Things you don't understand about the opposite gender?

I'll never understand the exact reasoning behind these "cat and mouse" games women play. Maybe my "manly" desire for straightforwardness in any relationship I carry has given me an overly idealized outlook on how I believe women should act in this day and age, but I don't understand why 90% of them can't just have the balls to say "You know what? I like you. Wanna do something later?" Honestly, how hard is that? Is it really asking too much for that particular ball to land in the other court from time to time?

I know it has something to do with some kind of need for validation, as in, "He's got to prove how much he wants to be with me." But you know what? I've struggled with self-worth issues for many years, and damned if I'm gonna let someone lead me around by my nose in some bizarre quest to prove my worth to her. It took me long enough to prove my worth to myself, thanks - I shouldn't have to prove it to anyone else.

Sorry if this comes off as bitchy, preachy, condescending or bitter, but...well, I truly do not understand why it has to be this way in a world that has changed so much. Is asking women to be more bold really asking too much in a time where asking a man to be a stay-at-home dad is perfectly normal?

My high school science teacher once said, "There are only three kinds of men who don't understand women: young, middle-aged, and old"

Really, I think I know a few things about women but I'm doubtful I'll ever fully comprehend why they do certain things.

Like wear uncomfortable clothes just to look good. I'll definitely be comfortable before I look good although both would be prefereable

In total agreement. In particular my best female friend tends to wear half tight, half loose clothes that aren't usually comfortable and don't do much against  our cool weather. does she look good? yes. but I look good and I'm wearing clothes of a ruffian. If you couldn't sleep comfortably in the clothes you are wearing in a casual occasion, then you should wear something different. Some say a nice frame does a lot for any picture, but i don't give a shit about the frame unless it was made by the artist. It's the art that's important. dont take my metaphor as a reason to dress naked because after reading it out that crossed my thoughts. dress nice and casual, das it

Well, I don't get how guys are able to fight one second and be friends the next. A lot of guys at my school also do stupid things because then they would feel cool. I don't see the logic in that.

Speaking as a guy myself i guess we just tend to not hold grudges either.

Plus disagreements between guys don't always end as badly i guess.

I just don't see the point in holding a grudge much on anyone anyways ;p. But like i said disagreements aren't a reason to end a friendship necessarily, just a part of it.

As for doing stupid things... Well frankly idk lol. I'm a guy and even i don't understand that. Because i don't do stupid stuff to be "Cool".

A man's answer- Everything.

One thing I don't get is how most (teenage) guys feel such a need to swear all the time. I know it probably makes them feel more 'manly' but it's not getting them any decent girls.

Even as a guy i don't know the exact reason, but i guess its partly peer pressure. I mean guys do tend to swear at each other, and thus some guys feel they need to do so aswell to feel accepted and alot of guys think its unmanly to not i suppose. I've been mocked before for it as i generally don't curse as a guy.

The only time i really curse is if someone really really ticks me off. As far as the frequent cursing for no reason i don't do that, and i still try to avoid it overall.

Then again, despite trying to keep clean i have yet to date anyone ;p. Of course i don't really like cursing that much myself. But i'd guess for exerting theirselves and acting "Manly" or sometimes just because they feel it gets their point across or makes them cool is the reason.

So your pretty accurate in your assumptions frankly. Essentially its peer pressure in a nutshell i guess mostly. Then it becomes habit. I again try to avoid it.

On a random side note, how come girls don't have nearly as many questions about guys as guys do girls? Seems like guys could pile question after question about girls and their mysterious ways, but i frankly do see girls with tons of questions. ;p.

Are we just barbaric and stupid, or simple minded or something? Or maybe were just upfront? idk. just kinda odd how girls seem to have guys figured out, while guys ponder over random stuff about girls.

I have always been baffled as to why the female mind is so susceptible to preconceived notions of cultural beauty and why women spend hundreds of dollars in the lifetimes in a vain attempt to replicate it.

I don't get it either especially because what popular culture considers beautiful is completely and totally contrary to what most men actually find attractive. Alot of women most of them perfectly fine keep saying that they are fat even if they are a healthy weight some of them take this to such extremes as to starve themselves thinking it will make them look attractive when it makes them look like a walking skeleton. There are many different body types and there is no one perfect flawless form and I think that is a good thing because if everyone looked the same life would be very boring. Makeup is okay but there are some women that really use too much, and plastic surgery is just unnecessary.

Yeah, while being overweight isn't exactly good for any gender, theres a difference between actually being overweight, and just being to self conscious that your not a skeleton.

Being underweight actually has alot more health risks associated with it then being overweight.

And yeah people are attracted to many different people and things and what not, so i don't think every girl needs to look like a magazine model or something..

And while makeup is ok, i agree some use to much, and frankly i don't find it that necessary, but if girls want to use it its ok. Just not a ton. Frankly i'd mostly rather girls without makeup, but almost all of them wear some.

Crazy what society can do i guess.

I'm not really sure about that myself. I guess girls are just much harder to understand than guys are. I think the questions girls ask about guys are usually "Why doesn't he like me?" or "What is his middle name, I'm taking an online compatibility test."

I guess girls don't feel too much of a need to understand a guy. Heck, most girls don't even understand themselves! :P

Yes and one of the main reasons for that is when people starve themselves they actually lose muscle even faster than they lose fat, The reason for this is because when the body kicks into starvation mode the metabolism slows down and cause more calories to be stored as fat as opposed to muscle. In starvation mode fat is eventually lost as well due to the lack of calories, unfortunately this slowdown in metabolism lasts well after starvation mode which is why so many people who go on extreme diets gain back even more than they lost after going to more normal diet.

I guess maybe so, although that makes me feel inferior almost... Which is weird, dunno why.

I guess thats true, haha, they do ask those questions alot from what i can tell. Well, not in interest of me personally, but i hang around alot of girls, so yeah.

I think that also gives me a much better understanding of girls, in an odd way, since i kinda get to observe things, plus i can ask questions and typically get answers ;p.

Maybe thats it to, i mean idk if i'd be willing to say that i'm super easy to read or something, and that theres really nothing to me. So maybe thats why.

And frankly i don't think girls are the only ones who don't understand themselves ;p. I mean i don't understand myself for the most part, i really don't think humans in general do ;p.

Dangit, i need an extra life ;p, so i can live life as a girl, and then understand everything. Haha. Ok well.. everything from bother sex's viewpoints i guess.

I guess i understand more then the average guy about girls probably since i've hung around them a bunch, maybe that'll come in handy sometime, who knows ;p.

Sorry if i accidentally offended you at all in anytime during that post, i may have done so accidentally and not know it by not choosing my words correctly or something, so i just wanted to apologize in advance if i did say something offensive. I meant no harm, i have nothing against either gender, and i don't thing either is better then the other or anything.

Yeah, it honestly doesn't help much.

plus theres actually a bunch of other health related issues that seem to correlate with being underweight, besides losing muscle fat and all the other weight related stuff thats more common talk.

Nah, I wasn't offended. I'm bad with choosing words too, so I get that feel. :P Also, I wasn't meaning to make guys seem inferior to girls, i just meant girls have ridiculously complicated minds. I know some complicated guys too, so I guess it's not just the girls. :P

Ok good ;p.

And its ok, you weren't really. I mean generally girls do tend to be a little smarter, so it would make sense i guess that they're minds are more complex idk. ;p.

But really alot of behaviors i guess and stuff isn't terribly accurate since many people prove those things wrong, so really the actual variations that are directly gender related aren't probably that large.

Also, since i've never asked any girls this, i just figured i'd ask here for you or other girls to answer.

But why is it that girls always go to the bathroom in groups? Thats like almost taboo in mens society it seems ;p. Heck even making eye contact in the bathroom is taboo, but girls seem to always go in groups to the bathroom.

On a related side note, why do girls talk so openly about bodily functions? I'm just curious, i've been around girls and it doesn't really bother me that much anymore, (Heck i've even caught myself saying pee a few times.) but i'm just curious.

Hopefully you can answer, unless its going to involve something thats NSFW or something, in that case sorry about that. I'm just quite a curious person as i think i've said before ;p.

Usually when girls go to the bathroom, they just hang out and talk at the sinks for a while. Well, that's what happens at my school when girls try to get out of class.

But, it's not really gross for girls to go to the bathroom together when they actually need to go. It's not like they can see each other doing their business anyway. :P

And, I'm not sure about the bodily functions thing. I don't know many girls who talk about that stuff at all. d:

Here's what I don't and probably will never know since I'm a guy. I guess this is arguably SFW or not, knowing it comes from a certain woman's part but...

What the hell is a period like? Like is it painful? Seriously, when they are on one, some don't really... act like themselves and I wonder "are they in pain?" :/

Oh, ok, that makes sense. ;p. I dunno why i didn't think of that.

Maybe its just because i'm use to the boys bathroom where its essentially taboo to even look at another guy during your time in there most of the time, especially a stranger.

And i guess you have a point, especially since girls do all their business sitting down. And in a stall, where as guys typically use urinals, and well that means it is a bit different..

I actually use the stalls even as a guy typically, because i feel to uncomfortable going in front of other guys, i don't get how other guys do it frankly. I've even got made fun of for going in stalls, which i don't get really. I guess i'm weird or something ;p.. I even sit down alot of the time if i'm like home and not in a disgusting public bathroom, its more relaxing, so the only time i really stand is when its a public bathroom, which is typically disgusting,(Sure you can imagine) or like if i'm camping outside or something like that, only time i really abuse my being a guy that often ;p. Or when i'm in a rush or something idk.

Sorry that was a bit of a ramblefest. I get rambly to often ;p.

And really? It seems like alot of the girls i'm around are much more open about announcing that they need to pee, instead of even just saying they have to go to the bathroom or something. Like i said i hang around it alot, so it doesn't bother me that much, just seems kinda unnecessary ;p.

Anyways, thanks for answering my question, I don't mean to be nosy, i'm just curious ;p.

Idk whether or not its considered SFW personally, probably like borderline at best, but i'm not a mod or anything so idk.

I can't answer unfortunately as a guy, so yeah. Sorry.

To answer your main question, they might be in pain, yeah. But they might not. Everyone is different, the various available types of pain during a period can range from nonexistent to moderate to "ugh, ow, this is not bad enough to call in sick, is it?" to "physically incapable of uncurling from the fetal position."

They may be acting unlike themselves, as you say, because they feel cruddy in some other way. I tell ya, the side effects of menstruation are many and varied. And I think the majority of women, given a choice in the matter, would probably opt out of the whole thing.

@,

It has a lot to do with subconscious (and some conscious too) insecurities. Women are far more emotional than men, that's why their input in a relationship costs them much more than it costs us usually. They invest their time and resources in it, the same way we do, but their understanding of that is vastly different. Once again, this is connected to instincts. Throughout thousands of years, women were not as independent as they are today. A man, being usually physically stronger, was the one to hunt and provide food required for survival. If the man died, woman along with children was left in a really dire situation. Look at the animals once more, too. The females always search for the strongest males, that's why males compete to show off their superiority. This applies to humans as well.

The insecurities still find their reflection in today's world. They usually sound: "What if he leaves me?" - as I've said, the price they pay to contribute to a relationship is greater. We're much more lightly spirited in this concern. They must make sure that once you get together, you won't leave them. And I perfectly understand that. If you'd get her pregnant and then tell her you're leaving, you'd be leaving her completely on ice there. For men, one big deed a woman does might be worth remembering forever. But women usually require multiple small deeds, to show that you care at each step and you're dependable in every situation.

But still, men are also capable of playing the "cat and mouse" game in a way that it'll be woman trying to prove their worth to a man. The issue is, women had hundreds of years of perfecting their methods, whereas men were busy fighting each other for their attention. So don't be surprised that it requires a lot of effort from us to step up to their game :>

yeah, i do kinda don't like how the men are the ones who have to ask the girls out essentially. Especially as someone whos incredibly shy. I mean honestly i don't have nearly enough dominance or mainlyness to just ask a girl out.

Thats probably one of the bigger reasons i've never went out with any, but honestly unless a girl asks me out that probably won't change throughout highschool at all. Who knows how long it'll be that way though.

I do agree that it sucks having to be the hunter, especially when your personality is not that of a hunter really, but more a shy reserved guy.

To answer your main question, they might be in pain, yeah. But they might not. Interesting, i never thought it was that complicated and differing. I always thought it was just kinda pain and thats about it. I was kinda curious about this to, so its nice to get some insight(Hope that doesn't sound... weird.)

It does sorta make it make sense why i never have noticed women showing any pain ever. Even those i see daily, i guess they just aren't necessarily in a ton of pain then and there.

i've never seen a girl go into the fetal position during school thats for sure.

And frankly i don't think anyone would want to go through it. Not men nor women. I must say i have sympathies for women regarding that.

Although i will say that i know some who are very prissy about it and almost use it as a way to talk down to men as being inferior, and that just aggravates me and sometimes destroys my respect for women.

I personally think both men and women have their own challenges to deal with, and even for those who don't agree it seems like alot of girls at my school just are very prissy about how being a guy is super easy and guys never have any type of problems and essentially makes me feel like i shouldn't have any problems and that i'm dirt and inferior in everyway.

Sorry, i didn't mean to rant, i just got carried away again, i do that alot.

Thank you for your explanation that doesn't go into any gross details aswell. It was very insightful.

I will never understand women who think that they are still in the Womens' rights movement.

I think that women already have essentially the rights equal to men for the most part, if not greater in some cases, i really don't think they need to worry about their rights, although i agree some still complain about it, almost like some want women superiority, not rights.

But thats a different topic kinda ;p.

It should be SFW, seeing as it's not a direct conversation about the parts... I shall spoiler.

It's not painful when the stuff is coming out, but before it starts it gives some woman or teens unbearable cramps, headaches and stuff like that. Oh god, the cramps... You guys are lucky. Anyway, to put it simply, a period ain't fun for a lot of girls.

Yeah, i guess its ok as long as we're not getting really graphic about it, or posting pictures or something.

Oh ok, so then its not a consistent loss of well blood through the process.

And yeah, it sounds kinda painful, like i've said i have respect for girls for being able to deal with that stuff, since me being a weakling of a guy idk if i could ;p.

Of course like i said, some girls are to prissy about it and just like to use it as a way to make guys inferior... their the ones who make me loss some of that respect and wanna prove them wrong.

Sorry, don't wanna ramble again ;p.

Well yeah i guess, most girls luckily aren't like that though. And most realize that girls are essentially equal, if a group of women push things to much further we might have to start a mens rights movement ;p.

Why some girls wear gigantic sunglasses that cover half their face lol... :P not all girls though.

Idk I am weird too

I actually find that purses seem quite convient, given that it was socially acceptable i might even carry one myself, gives me a place to put everything ;p. Of course if its anything like my moms it'd be quite cluttered lol.

I don't get high heels though, a friend whos a girl told me its because they like to feel tall, but like, i don't get it still, i'd rather be short and comfortable, then tall and uncomfortable.

I'm not sure i've seen the sunglasses ;p.

Maybe we're all just a little weird haha, ;p. Thats ok, being normal is kinda boring anyways hehe.

What 'everything'!? DX

Two pockets are enough for me to carry all the things I need outside. Wallet, cellphone with MP3 or anythin' player and keys. And there's still plenty of free place left!

What else could I possibly need? Enlighten me! Perhaps I'm living my life the wrong way DX!

meh ;p, dunno, i don't really know if i need the space on second thought.

Plus i'm kinda lazy ;p.

Iron ball in a purse sounds interesting. Perfect defense weapon ;p.

Or maybe keep something more practical, like some nun-chucks ;p.

Meh, i dunno, like i said maybe i don't need the space.

Still i can see the uses if i was carrying around a bunch of stuff. i don't go out much, so frankly idk.

I'm tired ok, my brains not working fully exactly ;p.
