So I had a security interview today and My Little Pony apparently came up

Funny thing that happened today that I thought I'd share...

 

I'm in the process of getting a security clearance upgrade for work, and part of that involves an interview with an investigator to go over my paperwork. Well I had my interview today, and after the first part the investigator wanted to talk separately to two coworkers who have known me for a while to ask about how I am, what I do in my free time, and so forth. So she talked to them (separately of course), and afterward when she was speaking with me again, she asked a few more questions, and then comes up with "So I understand you watch My Little Pony?"

 

Apparently one of my coworkers gave me up.

 

I'm just like, "um.. yeah?"

 

She replies with "seriously?"

 

to which I again reply "um... yeah?" (I'm not known for thinking on my feet)

 

And so she does that little slow-nodding thing and makes an annotation on her sheet, which I would very much have liked to read.

 

So she asks a few more ordinary questions, finishes up, and leaves.

 

I later asked the two she'd interviewed what they had said, and both of them were asked about my hobbies, and both had included My Little Pony in their replies.

 

So I guess the United States federal government is now officially aware that I like ponies :3

I doubt anyone other than the investigating agency will ever have access to the data collected. I just think its funny that My Little Pony is going to be mentioned on a security evaluation somewhere.

That's just standard procedure for any security clearance. They can never be too careful in handing those things out. If you expect to get one, its full disclosure. I remember when my dad got his Top Secret Clearance. (He worked with a lot of sensitive information at Boeing that dealt with the Air Force) He was rigorously checked, crosschecked, and rechecked on the validity of everything, including family, friends, hobbies, past travels, foreign friends, and so on.

Although skylights, I do hope that MLP doesn't hurt your chances of getting clearance... I could very easily see it hurting you in the review process....
