Don't know much about the other ponies around, I grew up living with my grandparents and becoming exposed and entertained by the mass collection of classical and legendary movies and cartoon shows, a fine example : Woody Woodpecker. Originally aired in 1953 (Correct me if wrong por favor. ;) ) So if anypony out there has a favorite movie or cartoon from the older days, lets hear it :). I'll start by saying BladeRunner was my favorite retro movie. Made in 1982.

Well, Popeye and Max Fleischer's Superman, they made up a large proportion of my childhood and my imagination, Popeye could make me laugh and Superman gave me action and drama, the large amount of work and thought in the writing and animation from both cartoons, continue to give me an appreciation of the old school media. My favourite retro movie is Flight of the Phoenix from 1965, with James Stewart and Richard Attenborough, it is also my favourite survival movie as the marooned passengers of a plane clash in the Sahara Desert, struggle to live while they build a new plane from the remaining parts of the downed plane, and saved themselves, I love the acting and the dramatic setting and premise as the characters cope with the harshness of their situation, it is such a gripping movie I recommend it.

I recently managed to find Max Fleischer's Superman on DVD. The two disc set contains every episode. They're really very good.

Well, I throughly enjoy the classic Doctor Who series, including the specials. I kinda consider them classic films in a way. However, if you really a film that I love, Metropolis. It's a brilliant silent film.

Feels like we already had a thread like this for the cartoons part, not to0 recently, so I will stick to movies.

Back to the Future 1, 2 & 3

Terminator 1 & 2

Rambo First Blood, and First Blood Part 2

Total Recall (That remake was terrible and didn't need to happen)

Twister (Yes I liked this movie, Tornadoes tearing shit up)

Die Hard

Jurassic Park 1 & 2 (My two all time favorite movies from my childhood.)

Mad Max 2 Road Warrior

Ace Ventura 1 & 2

There are lots more, but I would keep going on. That right there is a chunk of my DVD/Bluray collection.

As an 80's kid, we had many fine cartoons. My childhood fav was Gummi Bears, and my fav movie was Neverending Story.

Define "Old School"?

My favorite cartoons were stuff like Kim Possible, Spongebob, Transformers: Animated, Arthur, SWAT Kats: The Radical Sqadron <3, Sonic X, stuff like that.

I like Speilberg's stuff in the 80's, for movies.

Don't know if you consider it a classic or old school, but A Clockwork Orange from 1971.  Great movie, one of the best I've ever seen.

Back to the Future trilogy, Ghost Busters 1 & 2 and Trading Places are some of my fave old skool movies. As for cartoons... well, can't beat a bit of He-man and She-ra. Never seen them? You haven't lived. :P

I love watching the classic looney tunes cartoons whenever they're on TV. Those are classics, if you ask me. Also, the older Disney movies are just as awesome. (Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite older Disney movies.)

Movies? I love the 80's kid-movie Milo and Otis, and it still remains as my favorite movie of all time~ Not so much in movies, though...

Cartoons? Sure, I have a lot. I love Felix the Cat, the 60's and 90's DC and Marvel animated series, Pokemon, the first season, Sailor Moon, pretty much anything from Disney even dating all the way back to the 30's, and My Little Pony. I loved My Little Pony and LPS back then as well before FiM.

(I was gonna fill this post with gifs, but oh well... too lazy right now.)

So you want classic and nostalgia do ya?

How are these then:

Terry Pratchet's Discworld (Soul Music and The Weird Sisters)

Milton the Monster

Just a point of interest. You corrected Terry Pratchett! The official title is "Wyrd Sisters".  I've watched and enjoyed both Wyrd Sisters and Soul Music. Have you seen the live action movies "The Color of Magic", "Going Postal", "The Hogfather"? They're wonderful! I love all of Terry Pratchett's works! The only book I haven't read yet is "Raising Steam". (I'm on a Perry Mason binge right now!)

Wow, you have a lot to catch up on! I liked "Thud" better than "Snuff". Sam Vimes  is one of my favorite characters on the Disc!
