what to you is the darkest subject for an episode idea?

I think i exhausted this one,

but than someone made a suicide thread.

 

and i'm the king of cold,

and even i looked at that topic and went "Ow....."  I like stared at the title for a bit and felt, bad.

I'm not talking about what ever the OP's intent, what ever that have been, but

 

i think it hurt because taken to it's total extreme, suicide is a perversion of most episodes.  Slice of life being an every day problem.  Now we're all adults here (buck it i have faith we can be mature to hell with the adult b.s.)

Now while we know death is just not a show topic, (hearts and hooves day, funeral), death is a slice of life,

and ultimately it's something that comes for us all, with out acception.

 

we've all discused it.  we've all seen death in our shows, or movies, our lives, our friends, and families.  So with the right room full of people talking to any poster it's a subject that could be tackled?  (I'm not saying i'm that guy, hell i'm likely not)

 

But, is there a room of friends i'd be full comfy about talking about this one?

 

I laughed when enchantress made a thred as an abortion idea, cause it was so nutty i didn't take it seriously.

Drowning in horse shoes from fan analisis made the joke about scootaloe being flutter shy's secret rape baby and told only rainbow dash about it.

 

See, it's so goofy despite being grim, i just kinda laugh it off as gallows humor.

Now ignore the rating sysytem, ignore hasbro.

 

no holds barred i think those concepts would have a low percentage of showing up.

Suicide is easily one of the grimmest things in reality.

I would call it the the antithisis of feeling wise of everything mlp sheilds people from in reality.

 

Suicide metaphorically is like a dark, black sword plunging into the ground that would be mlp and descrating everything that fans feel.  That happeiness, that escape, that joy and chear.

 

I just wanted to capture my interpretation why it felt like such a devisive topic.

I totally agree it was a bad feeling topic, but i wanted to look at why.

like you hear goofy fan ideas of kiling off a character and depending on someoens mood, someone else might role with it.

 

like across the board fans responded "Damn that's grim.. wow that's dark."

no one took the topic lightly and when you see such a unversal response i like to look at why.

I mean after all as a fan base we have huge deversions and opinions,

and it's so rarely we agree on anything so completely.

this isn't a poorly written story like cup cakes, or rainbow factory.  it's discussinbg the concept,

it's a thought provoking concept.  I think Digi broney would been interested in it if like i suggested we could keep the topic mature.

Well I don't know, maybe the idea that some character of mane 6 must sacrifice herself for saving others? Or smth like that.

I'm a big fan of dramatic stories, and unhappy endings,but MLP don't need anything ANYTHING even a little dark thing. Maaaybe in some sort of parallel universe, exist the world where people are so kind and happy, that they need a little darkness in their lives, otherwise, the kindness will overflow them so that they will explode the flow of the rainbow. To avoid this, they watching a very popular show in Noir style "My saddest pony" in black and white tones, where all characters suffering every episode. But in our world the darkness and evil is everywhere and some people needs to get a little kindness, that's why (I hope) MLP exist.

 

P.S. Hey author did you play Spec ops: The line, or The Walking Dead? (Just asking)

I feel bad not about the topic itself but about losing my temper but I suppose we all have to try to move on from that. It wasn't meant to be taken entirely seriously and we of course knew some people wouldn't like it but I did take being accused of forcing it down peoples throats a bit personally because I felt that not only was I being insulted but my friend was as well. It could have been handled better but I still stand by the fact that if you are that vehemently opposed to a thread that it is probably best that you don't read or respond to it.

 

With that said the one "dark" topic that comes to mind that could be pulled off in the show is death particularly the death of Applejacks parents. Death has been done in childrens shows before with little controversy but because of the double standard of this being a "girls show" in addition to a "childrens show" that makes it even trickier. Alot of well meaning parents shield their children from this stuff only to make them too weak and soft to actually deal with these matters when they come up in their lives. If done right it could show that even through the bad times when things seem so horrible you don't think you can move on that there is hope, that you can get through it.
