He doesn't have the power to stop their free speech anyway. And exercising free speech naturally comes with the downside of other people having the ability to criticize your opinions.

yes I get that but I was more talking about how ridiculous it is to even propose such a thing. Oh and I completely agree with you on the whole analyze video thing.

I agree with you, but the Lion King was just not the rightexample to use for me... I've never enjoyed it not even as a child. But yeah I agree with your over all argument.

The online "reviews" of MLP:FIM are both ranged and skilled, flawed and perfect, lazy and hours spent on. But my entire point of this thread is THEY ARE NOT NEEDED!

So just because we don't need something, we should get rid of it?

Also, after so much war and distrust between everyone, it shouldn't be a surprise that people are uneasy about things. Plus, I always feel at least a little bit insulted when people hold a door open for me.

I seriously think you are the thunderstorm on the Analysis Parade. Stop raining on it and go about your own business. You don't have to witness all of the people who try to have a deeper mind than you.

Even I want people to be nicer to each other, but we are human, so that can't happen easily, or at least with free will.

Just go with it. Something like this can't be changed for the better.

I never really understood why people watch the analysis videos. I can come here and read plenty of people's dumb opinions on MLP episodes. I don't see why I need a whole fancy video with a talking ponysona to go with it.

As someone who makes these videos himself, I can say that I enjoy it because it gives me a bigger chance to get my voice heard and engage directly with others.  And it's just fun to make these videos and put them up on a place like Youtube.  As for why I personally listen to other analysts, they give interesting ideas, and whether I disagree with them, hearing their opinion adds to the whole MLP experience for me.    Yes, even when they hate an episode that I like.

And if you don't care for someone's excessively negative opinion, you don't have to listen.

as for why I prefer vidoes over just regular text, well I do both (in the episode threads here and on my tumblr)) but I think video is a much more directly engaging experience.

And this tiny, tiny example is EXACTLY what is wrong with EVERYTHING in our society. The internet had bred an Ego that wont die.

tiny, tiny example

Just because I'd rather have my arm do the work that another didn't let me do doesn't make me immoral. I just want to experience the force.

Also, the Internet let people experience much more in life. With everything comes a positive and a negative. You can't stop it.

Technically neither is this forum, but I don't see anyone calling to get rid of it.

Not all pony analysis is excessively negative.  Most of my own videos are about what makes something *work well*, particularly characters, and only a handful are what I would consider fairly critical.

Humans NEED one another, we live and breath ONLY because of each other. The simple action of RESPECT to help someone with a door, or offer a place in line, or whatever IS THAT NEED shown to you.

Your pride blinds you, and on that note I will retire, I will not argue nor be drawn into blindness. You speak of humanity, of nature, but you do NOT understand it, that is the mark of the internet generation.

Opening doors for women is a strange tradition. It kind of implies that women are so weak and demure that they can't handle pulling a handle.

But I guess it's not the worst thing in the world.

Know what? Don't like, don't watch or read.

Simple as that. You don't like the analysis video? Don't watch them.

Don't like long detailed written reviews? Don't read them.

Ignore every damned involving them. They are not hurting the fanbase as much as you overly exaggerated they are.

Just don't pay any attention to any of it and let the reviwers do what they enjoy.

I just looked up all cutscenes from Shadow the Hedgehog, and I read the intro post in his voice! I can just imagine him standing on a rock and saying that (even if it isn't something he'd say in the first place).

Yo! I'm Shenron00, but you can call me “Shen” if you want!

Thanks to WheatleyCore for the sig! BTW, yes, I do realize that's Carnage and not Shenron.

To be fair, neither do you. You can't say you are right when the question in hand is something very little people can actually understand.

I know you don't want to argue, but you must know that it is not the Internet's fault. It's the anonymity that it brought. But, that isn't the point. Things can't be perfect and tailored exactly to what you want. I think it's hard for you to accept that, even at your age.

It is the height of maturity to be able to listen to someone's opinion and say that you respect it but disagree.

I watch analysis videos. Bronycurious and TBBBAP are my main entree. I disgree with their opinions a lot of the time, but respect them enough.

Why do they bother you so much?

Do their opinions change your mind about the show? Does it ruin it for you? That's being weak minded.

Do you feel that their opinions affect the opinions of others too much? Why do you care? Other people aren't you.

Rid yourself of these attachments. You're mad over nothing. That's my opinion.

There's a difference between stating one's own opinions and enforcing them on others.

People can choose to do what they prefer as long as it does not harm others. If they did, better stop and rethink.

Oh and op the MLP analysis side might be bad. But I don't think it's anywhere near the Frozen fandoms analysis side.

Some of them are convinced nearly every other if not every goddamned thing Hans did was foreshadowing him revealing his true self.

There were not as many foreshadowing bits as they seem to be convinced.

But yeah let the bronies who make analysis videos have their fun. It's not hurting you or anyone else. So telling the entire fandom that it needs to stop when the ones who do the analysis videos and their viewers enjoy them because you think they're "ruining" the show comes off as really rude if you ask me. Like I said, don't watch or read detailed analysis things if they bug you that damned much.

Oh and I have to agree with what Kel said.

Though many people are overly critical and finding flaws is a bit of human nature, we should keep it to ourselves because it makes the people who enjoy the show for what it is (like me) upset.

Reviewers enjoy Jesus Christ on a bicycle?

Well said.

But seriously, No need to be critical of the critics here, all your doing is just having a critical fest

 criticalhits.png

Just don't read the critical reviews. Shows aren't being run by the critics, a story is a story the author tells the story, and they can have it any way they want. They don't have to pertain to any rules because it's their story

This is the inevitable problem of an adult fanbase of a kid's show.  We all love MLP, but we want it to be Game of Thrones quality writing, storytelling, and continuity.  And that's just not going to happen.  Sometimes it can be fun to analzye the show, point out funny plot holes and such.  I for one enjoy doing that.  I'm just that type of person.  But I still absolutely love the show.  I'll watch an episode, love it, then point out some funny error, like why Twilight can easily levitate the entire group, as evident in Games Ponies Play, but then when they are falling to their deaths, like in Wonderbolt's academy, she seems to conveniently forget that she can do magic.  See?  There I go again.  I just have fun doing that.  But to me, it's only a joke.  I don't get all whirled up about it and angry.  I think it's important to remember that while it may be fun to analyze, we also shouldn't go overboard.  We should also remember that many of the folks overanalyzing the show, myself including, are just joking and doing it in a lighthearted manner.  A big problem with text is you can't hear vocal tone.  So when you read gripes about episodes on the forums, it may sound overly critial or even angry, but if you could hear the person talk, you might find that it's more lighthearted.  Now, I don't really watch video reviews, so I can't speak to that.

But I definitely agree with you, OP.  Now, I admit that I often wish we could have Game of Thrones quality writing, but I know it's just a kids show.  I want to enjoy it.  I don't want to analyze to point of souring myself.  (I.e. deciding that Celestia is a bitch in Magical Mystery Cure, as so many believe, and not liking her anymore, or stuff like that.)  I have made a conscious decision to accept the continuity errors, accept imperfection, and just relax and enjoy the magical moments.  Enjoy the music.  Enjoy the characters.  Enjoy the friendships.  It's easy to get soured by overanalyzing.  MLP can be such a beautiful thing, if you let it.

I'll be honest, I've never read nor watched a review for an MLP episode as long as I've been in the fandom, and that's been three years this month.

I understand people like to flex their critic muscle, especially with something they feel passionate with. I enjoy watching the episodes as they are and won't worry about the little things.

Critique is a time honored tradition. If the source material merits discussion, you will have multiple interpretation of any shows aspects. It's these interpretations and discussions of elements of any art/entertainment based product that allow it to continue to thrive long after the work is complete.

If your issue is how some Bronies or Non-Bronies passionately argue on minutiae and themes of MLP, then allow me to hold up Hamlet in my left hand and Galileo's Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems in my right hand and say this --

I desire to live in a world where ideas can be questioned and birth new truths, be they meaningful or insignificant. I welcome all opinions in their varying temperatures. To do otherwise is against the one human nature that unites all our races and cultures ... to ask the question, "WHY?"

I stopped watching reviews for that reason, we are getting TOO over analytical that it's ruining the show for others. It's a show, and they can make silly mistakes, hell, I don't remember a SINGLE show without pointing a mistake or two, like the Powerpuff Girls, changing places in their bed

I could not have said it better my self. I completely agree these "review" videos are starting to really piss me off. Like when people go into such depth about a cartoon and just tear it apart. I am like just enjoy the fucking show.

This! There are some people in my school who look into the show way too much, and tear it apart. They complain about over analyation, and yet that's what they're doing themselves. They can't even enjoy the show because they're too busy ranting about how much one of the characters sucks. Gosh, why can't they just enjoy the show? That's what I do.

Well .. that was a very impassioned speech .. about uh .. nothing of relevance ..

You know what the first thing I did involving MLP was? Watch an episode. Then I watched several more. I hadn't seen any fan-made reviews or parody videos, met any bronies, or joined any forums. I saw some image macros but I didn't know what they meant so they were quickly ignored. It was just me and the show, and there was nothing coloring my judgement of it but my own opinion. Had I not enjoyed it on it's own untinted merits, I wouldn't be here now.

Isn't that how everyone becomes a fan of anything? It would be very weird to me if I met someone who joined a community, read reviews, participated in discussion, and formed opinions of source material before actually seeing it. On the other hand, if someone likes the material enough to seek out a more in-depth analysis of it, they will.

So I guess my question is, who's harmed by the analysis? Not new viewers - they haven't seen one word of it. The veterans? I don't have much interest in analysis beyond a certain point, then I just ignore it, so not me. The people who choose to participate? Wow, I definitely don't see what's wrong with that.

Gain some perspective. Analysis of MLP is such an esoteric interest for a limited group of people, only those people have anything to gain or lose by it, and they're free to close the tab and just watch the show, if that's what they want to do.
