*spoiler*Will Flutterbat be a permanent thing?

I think of it as a plot point/plot device that the writers insert at the end of an episode to surprise us, they put it there to intrigue us even though it won't amount to anything else later in the season or have a significant importance later on. It's more of the writers trolling us instead of the answering the question if Fluttershy will become a bat again.

I hope not I personally dislike flutterbat and hope it stays a one episode thing permanently

I don't even dislike it I dislike how it's becoming a deal

"If you feel the need to treat me like garbage, I'll feel the need to throw you into the back of a compressing garbage truck."

"I'd rather "go to hell" for hugging a guy I like then makeout in heaven with a girl I don't."

"If someone has the intention of changing who you are, or stopping you from doing what you like, bite out your tongue before they can change you"

I don't think thats a good comparison: Avatar was conceived, written and (excellently) executed as one big story, whereas MLP  is meant as a slice-of-life series with the occasional adventure sprinkled in. Also keep in mind that MLP would have probably been axed if it failed to reek in money, hence it's pretty tricky to plan overarching stories.

That and editorial mandates (Cadence, Twilicorn) though luckily  not to the extend of other series (eg Transformers Prime got screwed over hard).

My point is that MLP is not really in a position to have epic, season-spanning arcs. And seeing as the slice-of-life elements are what the show des best, I'm ok with just  the occasional epicness sprinkled in.

I know. But the fact is that they have openly stated they are trying a season-spanning arc. That being said, I'm really nervous still, and will be until I see some proof that they can connect the dots properly, in good pace, without making it seem contrived. They are being insanely ambitious with this, especially given most of the writers have primarily dealt with the episodic style in their past experience. I hope it all works out.

What I'm hoping for is that Fluttershy won't turn back into a batpony, but instead she will still retain certain parts of her battiness, such as a craving for apples (which obviously would result in humorous situations between Fluttershy and Applejack, which would subsequently result in more character development between them). Besides, with endings such as this, it opens up room for opportunity. In this case, it would be purely for comedic purposes. Personally, I like Flutterbat's design, and I wouldn't mind if bits of her came back. Besides, the idea actually makes room for more squeeing, if you get my gist.

Not entirely....

It seems season 4 has not only introduced a lot more action than previous seasons, but have also left somewhat subtle hints towards a possible surprise near the end.

So far, the shadow in castle mania and the somewhat cannon flutterbat makes me wonder if it will have some connection towards the keys to opening the box... But again, this is just an estimate guess.

Tommy also said he refuseses to beleive that all those cling hangers aren't leading to something.

I don't think he does anymore and I think he said so in his most recent video. He's upset that they all might be meaningless because it's so unusual for the series to have ending gags.

Megan McCarthy has tweeted about there being a season long story arc, anid there has been a few so called 'random' cliffhangers so far. I'm unsure if this will be just a silly little thing they added or something that'll come back to bite us in the ass later. Though thre are a few good theorys that are a good way to explain the leftover fang..

I can't remember the full theory, I'll look around for it later, but it had something to do with the Power Ponies episode and foreshadowing. It had something about Radiance and Rarity in Rarity Takes Manehatten and Flutterhulk and 'Bats!'. And if I'm not mistaken, there's a Pinkie Pie ep coming up... So we'll have to see how this all plays out ;)

(Am I the only one hoping Fluttershys fang will appear later in the season?)
