movies/tv The Fate of Cartoon Network

Yesterday, there was the new, remade version of the Powerpuff Girls, which of course, got mixed reviews. I didn't watched it because it lacks nostalgia and same styling the older version has. I have a feeling that Cartoon Network is treading on thin ice as they're trying too hard to appeal the viewers. I hope by next year or two, or later this year, if they don't realize their mistakes and bring back older shows and omitting generic shows like Johnny Test (dunno how and why they're still airing it when they should know the show is just terrible beyond many reasons) and Teen Titans Go! (because it does not follow up to the original Teen Titans and focusing more on comedy than action would mean they have lost respect to the original version), and bring back classic shows, or even remake the shows, but keep the original and nostalgic style to it, they're going to be on thin ice and sooner or later, the channel we knew and love will become non-existent because of their poor, inexcusable attempts to even try to please the viewers, young and old, by adding generic shows that does not come close to please us, and be replaced by [adult swim] and Toonami 24/7, but keep Boomerang because its the only channel I would watch because of the majority of classic shows I would love to watch.

I know you people still love Cartoon Network to this day, but I myself would still think that they need to stop airing new, unwanted shows and get rid of ones we hate, and bring back older shows, or risk being shut down for good. Other than that, what are your opinions to Cartoon Network's fate, whether you want it to stay or you want it gone and replaced forever?

Audiences change, thus networks change.

Personally I like Adventure Time and Regular show and they should start making more shows like them. They have already tried racking people in with nostalgia, and it just isn't working. It's time to move forward, but do so with intelligent decisions. Cartoon Network Reality Block was by far the dumbest choice on their part.

I'll be honest, while the anniversary special of the powerpuff girls wasn't the best that I thought it would be, even as far as saying it was kind of disappointing, it was still a great little nod to a successful series.

But despite the horrible shows that CN throws out every once in a while like Johnny Test and the annoying orange, they do throw out some other great cartoons like the greatest one next to regular show and adventure time, steven universe, which I recommend watching if you liked the other two so much.

But like any other program network, they have to expand and see what cartoons work, otherwise, you'd be a network that does nothing but put out re-runs of spongbob squarepants....

Anyone notice Nick and CN have switched places? Back in the day CN was the big anime provider, now it seems like Nick is scrapping up as much anime or anime-esque shows they can get.

Oh will people stop...I know it was probably not a good move to begin with, but Jesus can you give them credit for keeping a series alive the best way they know how?

Besides, I think the styling is unique and very adorable...I haven't watched an episode, but it looks very interesting to say the least. I didn't say the above sentence as a nod to those who think otherwise, but I wish we could be a little more appreciative.

Despite the horrible shows that are still on the air on Cartoon Network, they are still able to produce the new shows that can appeal to a new audience because you can't always have the same audience from the past. Regular Show, Adventure Time, and Steven Universe are able to balance out the horrible shows that should be canceled by now.

I'll still support Cartoon Network, since Nick is just not cutting it anymore.

I don't hate the new one, but it didn't had any same appeal as the older one has.

The styling, as you mentioned, is unique and adorable yes, but it doesn't excite me by much in my honest opinion.

Right now the only good show on Cartoon Network is Adventure Time. I've also heard Regular Show is pretty good. My brother likes it (he's 20).

But yeah, most of the shows on there are generic and unfunny.

I didn't say you hated the new one, i'm respectful about one's opinion.

I just don't get some people when they are all like, "Oh they made a new series about my childhood show, it's ruined!"

Those are the kind of people I think are being unappreciative about this all new PPG series. :/

To be quite honest, the only thing about the new ppg that bothered me was that it was Bubbles that used ice breath instead of Blossom. But regarding CN, they really need to put some actually good cartoons on. The only good ones are Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Steven Universe. Don't even get me started on Uncle Grandpa and Annoying Orange. I can't even comprehend why they thought those shows were good ideas.

Truth. All they've got (as far as I know) is SpongeBob.

I for one still love Cartoon Network.

There are still some freaking fantastic shows on it. One is Adventure Time, another Regular Show, then Steven Universe is great. This new Teen Titans show is great, and them bringing back PPG might lead them to bring back classic shows.

I for one still support it, it's a good tv network with some lacklucker shows, but hey what network doesn't?

I forgot to watch the Powerpuff girls special. I don't think bringing back the old shows and getting rid of the new shows would be a good business strategy either. Networks stay in business from coming up with new ideas for shows not doing the same thing over and over again. I can agree that most of Cartoon Network's lineup is not that good but I think they should come up with more original shows that are amazing.

They have, but CN omitted it because they clearly thought many anime shows are completely violent and removed it (which, of course, led to Adult Swim bring back Toonami after CN removed it), which I found it to be inexcusable and disgraceful.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, but the main factor is that if they do bring older shows back, they can gain more viewers, rather than relying solely on money. And yes, I do like Regular Show, but I only watch it whenever I felt like it, but other than that, I mostly watch classic shows Boomerang offers, including The Hub with Batman Beyond and Transformers Prime.

Johnny Test (dunno how and why they're still airing it when they should know the show is just terrible beyond many reasons) and Teen Titans Go! (because it does not follow up to the original Teen Titans and focusing more on comedy than action would mean they have lost respect to the original version),

Because,Johnny Test has cheap animation, and is easy to make, and the only thing wrong with Teen Titans Go! is the fact that it is Teen Titans,it is legitimately funny.

and bring back classic shows,

Yeah,a whole channel of reruns, that would be cool...until we started seeing the same thing over and over and over, that's why I don't watch Boomerang anymore.

the channel we knew and love will become non-existent because of their poor, inexcusable attempts to even try to please the viewers,

Yeah, let's forget Adventure Time's humongous fanbase, and Regular Show's humongous fanbase, they don't know what they like.

And before you start spouting out "BUT UNCLE GRANDPA IS DUMB!!!" Uncle Grandpa is a show that uses gross out humor, gross out humor is something that people don't like anymore,if Cow and Chicken came out today,NOBODY would like it.

I think Cartoon Network has better shows than Nickelodeon nowadays. The only show on Nick I watch is the Legend of Korra.

On Cartoon Network, I watch Adventure Time and Steven Universe. Both are great shows. Anyways, I'm not sure about the future of Cartoon Network but as of now it has some pretty good shows on it so I'd like to think it has a bright future.

That's true, but Cartoon Network has been focusing more on comedy than action, one that I'm thinking that they're being too overprotective because they thought that if one particular scene is violent, they'll remove it without warning, which of course, I found it a sad excuse for it (not counting Pokémon, though). The Hub has action shows (mostly in the mornings throughout the weekends) and there were violent scenes, but at least they're smart enough to know that the shows they air weren't too violent instead of going trigger-happy by instantly removing it.

Yeah, because Symbionic Titan isn't violent at all.

I think CN has been on thin ice for a long time now way back years ago. Around 2006 things went to crap for the network and I lost interest. But seriously there were so many great shows to choose from back then! Ed, Edd & Eddy, Courage, Johnny Bravo, Looney Toons, Cow & Chicken, Code Name Kids Next Door, Toonami back then was freaking amazing, Dexter's Lab, PPG, Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends, Teen Titans, Samurai Jack, *Classic* Pokemon, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy,  Duck Dogers, and many more I could name from memory!

Look at all of that all those great great shows to choose from.

Now basically as I see it. On CN

Adventure Time is great, and Regular show is decent... There are *a lot* less few great cartoons nowadays as compared to those times in my opinion.

Still better Nickelodeon.

Cartoon Network may have their fair share of stinkers like Annoying Orange, Johnny Test, and the recent Uncle Grandpa, but they also manage to have some surprise hits like Regular Show, Adventure Time, and the also recent Steven Universe. The only reason I'm so harsh on CN all the time is because they cancelled Megas and Sym-Bionic Titan, which I still find inexcusable
