Fluttershyfan94 5,742 January 30, 2014 Share January 30, 2014 I had read about this a while ago, just shows what effects bullying can have. He suffered some brain damage if I remember correctly, there is a donation dedicate to him. Hopefully he'll have a full recovery but at the moment hoping is all they can do as well as donating. It's sad that this happened but don't forget that this happens a lot people are bullied and often take their own lives. Hopefully he'll be alright though, as for the people that caused him to feel this way I have nothing to say but this. The damage they have inflicted on this young boy will follow them into their graves. Static Electricity 729 January 30, 2014 Share January 30, 2014 and what do you want to happen to the bullies? they're small children too aswell as the victim. do you want them to get brain damaged? Lol, being a child does not make you a beacon of innocence, or innocent at all. If a child does something terrible, then they have to pay.
Horsy 193 January 30, 2014 Share January 30, 2014 I want them to face the consequences, not to damage their brains. By consequences I don't mean "beat them to death", "make them die slowly". But we can't pretend like it did not happen. They are young. And if they will now be taught that they suffer no consequences for this kind of thing they will do that again in future to other kid. Kicking out of school, forcing to stay longer after classes, strict control, those kind of consequences. And long, very long lecture about why did they do wrong. Bullies will always exist. Punishing them won't get rid of the problem. There needs to be a change in the system. KEEP CALM AND EAT CUPCAKES.

Burning Question 69 January 30, 2014 Share January 30, 2014 (edited) Good parent would punish his kid for bullying, theft, violence and lying by giving him lots of hard work to do which would be equivalent of doing something for society after you fucked up as an adult (sending kid to his room doesn't do much nowadays and may give him time to get even more wrong thoughts anyway). Also good parent would stay angry at such bully untill he'd properly apologize to his victim. ...I'm gonna be harsh mom someday but I'd rather do that than let my kids be immature, irresponsible sociopaths with no honour whatsoever. >.> Edited January 30, 2014 by Burning Question 1 Adventure and danger, love from a stranger, Let me be surprised! Burning Question 69 January 30, 2014 Share January 30, 2014 To fix ANY kind of problem you need to start with baby steps. Raising children to be understanding and empatheting is part of the system so punishing them properly and making them learn is part of it too. You can't just suddenly fix system generally so what you're talking about is pointless in practice - you gotta start somewhere. Adventure and danger, love from a stranger, Let me be surprised! In Poland it is their responsibility yet they still don't do it. What's worse is that when bully has good grades - then he can do literally everything to others. At least it was problem in my school. Telling them to "look after" kids might still not work. But I'd rather not talk about system as I am not familiar with the one that is in USA. EDIT: also I would go back to thing this thread is about - this one poor kid. Like Burning Question said - it would be nice to encourage that kid and show him that he is not alone. He needs that now more than ever. So if anyone knows any way to contact him or his family - it will be most appreciated at least by me. Planty 1,053 January 31, 2014 Share January 31, 2014 OK so regarding this, this is from reddit: First, there is the issue of if the money the fandom is throwing into this is actually worth it, or if we really could be directing the money to some places that would better use the funds. I feel like Bronies throwing tens of thousands of dollars for a child's medical bills is not solving a problem, its putting a band-aid on the symptom. I'd feel much more comfortable if there were donation drives for organizations meant to combat bullying and prevent suicide. Brain damage is irreversible. From the information we know so far, I do not believe Michael will be returning to any sort of normal brain function, and I personally do not believe it is a high-impact use of charity funds to pay for the life support of a vegetative person. I feel we really could use the funds we're raising for something much more impacting in the long run. I encourage anyone who is thinking of donating to educate themselves on what "severe brain damage" really is. It's not something you generally make a full recovery from. Second, there has been a few worrying inconsistencies in the story and in how his family is handling this problem. Recently uncovered was a facebook post from one of the Morones family friends who revealed that Michael did not attempt suicide because of bullying from school, but because he got in a fight with his older brother. The facebook post is listed here:https://www.facebook.com/stacy.suttle/posts/10203153890755091?stream_ref=10 I know this isn't like me. But please send all your prayers to Michael, Chris's stepson. Last night he got in a fight with his brother, and tried to kill himself. Michael is 11 years old. He's a wonderful sweet, smart outgoing boy. I love him. I love Chris's other stepchildren. Ethan's step-brothers. I might complain about Chris and be envious of his family sometimes. But the truth is I love them all very much. So please pray for Chris, Tiffany, Angel, Xavier and especially Michael. He's in ICU and they don't know if he's going to make it. Please pray. There is some other speculation regarding that his family may be inflating the story and trying to "play the right notes" for the fandom to sympathize, with our thoughts and money. However, they are speculative and not entirely conclusive, so I do not wish to state them right now. Its just that not everything is adding up, and his family is trying to hammer hard how much of a brony Michael was, possibly to replicate the same support the Kiki Havivy fundraiser had. Third I have a bit more commentary on the fandom's support for this. It seems like some folks have been shaming groups and organizations for not taking part in this. This is not right at all. I've known many people are feeling very skeptical about this fundraiser in light of recent evidence. I'll keep this condensed, but I had my reasons fornot taking part in the Kiki fundraiser because I did not believe the fundraising for her alternative medicine impacts would have any effect, nor do I believe in sending my condolences and feelings in the form of monetary donation for (alternative) medicine bills. I feel this is more or less becoming the same deal. I'm also speculating some more entrepreneurial bronies are trying to get a bit of attention or fandom fame by latching themselves onto this fund, or see it is a great boost to PR. Overall, these are my thoughts on this. Overall, I hope that somehow, Michael is able to make a full recovery and that this situation gets resolved. I respect the sentiment of the fandom and it's great good will and intent. I'm just advising you all look into this with some critical thought first. Remember, sending your sympathies and sending monetary donations are different things. Be vigilant. I will second them, be very carful with this. 2 Have ANY questions about Christianity? INBOX ME!
