For All those People out there having Hard Times

Firehearted

I'm facing somewhat hard times right now. My dad just shipped off to Afganastan for six months to help with the pullout. Despite this being the seventh time he's gone off to war it's still hard without him being around. My situation may not be as bad as others but these are some of the hardest times of my life.

Amen! Just keep swimming and smile it takes more muscles to frown than to smile. Be optimistic and positive. Everything will always get better

That is so true thank you for this everyone always needs a reminder to just look at others around them and see what others have to go through. I hope the best for your father and your current situation as of right now as well. But as you said this is so true.

I don't really see how jumping on a rope works like that 3lnNF.png

Dealing with depression isn't as easy as patting someone's back, saying that things will get better in the end. If such simplistic Disney-esque technique works, there will be no suicides in the world.

I just first and foremost wanna say thank you to your father for his service, and I appreciate the sacrifice. Secondly, I have a little story. There was a group of boys who were split into two teams. There was one boy in the middle of the room who's task was to stand on a piece of paper. Each team was supposed to push and shove that boy off the paper and into the other wall. Eventually the one team succeeded and shoved him off the paper. They all landed in a pile and the boy got up and walked over and once again stood on the piece of paper. Cheesy story, but the moral is life will push and pull you, but what really matters is where you choose to stand at the end of each day.

You can either despair that a rosebush has thorns, or rejoice that a thornbush has roses.

Depression is a serious issue and we aren't trying to disneyfy it but you can make a choice to pull yourself out of the dark hole you find yourself in or to stay in it pulling yourself out is crazy hard I have been there multiple times in my life. But you can't let it control you. You have to decide you want to be better you have to acknowledge your troubles and battle to fix them. Be strong like all the ponies are and pony up! Refuse to let depression control your life.

I remember a time when I was depressed constantly because well, I thought my life sucked. I went through little waves of this. During my last wave, which was probably almost two years ago, I finally convinced myself it was time to end it. I spent six hours at work trying to convince myself it was the best option. I talked to someone I trusted and told them I felt like a failure at life. That's basically ow I felt, that I had failed. He said "no you failed when you gave up." that day I made a promise to never give up no matter what happens and it has served me well. Something good always came after the hardship if I could just make myself wait a little longer. Now I realize that everyones situations are different. No two people ever have exactly the same circumstances or experience the same way. Ive learned that I may be walking down the same street as the person next to me, in the same rainstorm, going in the same direction to the same destination. But the raindrops hitting my head is not the same raindrops hitting his head. But I can tell you that depressed or not, when you push through, everything becomes worth it in the end in one way or another. You learn things about yourself and others and life that you didn't know before when you make it through hardship. There is a reason we have trials. You can't know the sweet if you don't taste the bitter.

It honestly depends on everyone's outlook. I've always had a positive outlook: despite abuse, despite my mom dying, despite things that happened to me that are too graphic to say. I've kept a positive outlook because I don't want to be a "victim" of these things and have people pity me. I'm a survivor and I'm MORE than emotionally strong because of all this.

Realize you have to be strong or your life could very well crumble around you. If you're not gonna be strong for yourself, no one else can help you. That being said, I'm always willing to talk things out with people.

Your dad sounds like a good, respectable man and it's nice to know all he's done for our country. Hats off to him. If you ever want to talk or need anything, I'm here. :)
