Iridescent Quill 70 February 1, 2014 Share February 1, 2014 Hello all . So I've been suffering from OCD for about ten years. I'm on medication for it, but I still have a lot of symptoms. Anyway, I was curious if other people on these forums have OCD or anxiety. I haven't really talked to others with OCD before and I thought it'd be nice to have a thread on here to talk about what you're going through so others can see they are not alone. It's always nice to know when someone truly knows what you're going through. So, do you have OCD? Have you been diagnosed by a psychiatrist? How much does it affect your life? If on meds, do you find they help at all or are you still experiencing symptoms?
Scootalove 10,689 February 1, 2014 Share February 1, 2014 I don't have OCD, but I do have anxiety. I've had some times where I start to feel stressful, and I start to feel angry & frustrated when I go through a lot of pain physically and mentally. So, I have to take pills to ease the pain. I used to get really angry and frustrated too when things would go wrong. And I would get anxiety attacks. My meds have definitely reduced the anger and I can be much more mellow now during crises. I'm sorry that you have anxiety, it's definitely a hard thing to deal with.

tropicolacrescent 2 February 15, 2014 Share February 15, 2014 Yes, I suffer from OCD too, I know what it's like . Some times I have good days and I can ignore the OCD compulsions, but when I'm tired, stressed, etc.. my OCD can get really bad and difficult to deal with. I think stress has a lot to do with it, stress makes the OCD worse which makes you more stressed. It's a vicious cycle.
Judgement 445 February 15, 2014 Share February 15, 2014 (edited) I used to have OCD for the first 10 years of my life. I grew out of it, but everything HAD to be in perfect order and nothing was to be touched or moved or else I would freak out. Now days, I frankly wouldn't care if everything in my room started flying around. Just as long as my stuff doesn't disapear, I'm fine with it. Though, one part of OCD that I still have is how I HATE when my objects, especially screens, get scratches on them. My OCD gets in the way of me making friends. My OCD has gotten in the way of relationships and friendships. My former high school friends stopped wanting to have anything to do with me when my symptoms got worse. Funny how you learn who your real friends are when times get tough.

Same here, everything has to be in perfect order and perfection condition for me and if I touch something with one hand/foot I have to touch it with the other! It's so annoying!
Cash In 22,346 June 19, 2018 Share June 19, 2018 (edited) I have severe OCD and I'm on medication to keep it under control. I can't really explain my compulsions, because most of them don't really make any sense. Edited November 25, 2020 by Cash_In At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.

Olly 1,011 March 3, 2020 Share March 3, 2020 I have it and it's a nightmare. Constantly battling your own mind, afraid of everything. I wish I had a regular brain We have two ears and one mouth, so we should listen more than we say.
Dreambiscuit 9,815 March 5, 2020 Share March 5, 2020 I had severe OCD when I was a teenager. It was horrible and debilitating. I got to the point where I couldn’t even function and had an emotional breakdown. My family helped me a lot by talking about it with me and telling me the things my brain was assailing me with weren’t real but a fabrication of a mind that was too active and had no outlet. I was a smart kid, but having no options for using that knowledge and instinct all bottled up inside made my brain feed off itself and it drove me nearly insane. No matter what I did, or didn’t do, my mind would find some reason to convince me something bad would come of it. So I applied logic to the problem and figured that if I’m damned if I do and damned if I don’t I shouldn’t have to care anymore what I do, and stopped worrying. I let the obsessions cancel themselves out. That was the foothold that helped me to start working my way out of the problem and becoming normal again. As I got older I had other things to do and the activity also helped me to stop being so internalized all the time, and that also made a big difference.
Stone Cold Steve Jobs 22,440 March 9, 2020 Share March 9, 2020 I’ve had OCD most of my life. My compulsions are centered around things like floor tiles. When walking on floor tiles I have to step on the last three sets of tiles with both feet. If I miss one I have to go back and get it without touching the other tiles. If I bump an arm into something I have to bump my other arm in the same manner. I sometimes get up several times in a short amount of time to check the door locks and oven. I also don’t like touching doorknobs outside my house. I can do it but I have to wash my hands after. It’s just something I learned to live with over time. 2 And that’s the bottom line, ‘cause Stone Cold said so!
Splashee 28,564 March 9, 2020 Share March 9, 2020 I have OCD when it comes to seeing things unordered that should be ordered to make sense. I also am very OCD about how I make my bed, and when vacuuming (which makes it a forever task, which I hate!)
