gaming Do you think Gamefreak made the right decision to add the Fairy type to Pokémon?

Yes, because in the last metagame, dragons were ridiculous and needed some kind of counterweight. They're incredibly bulky in type coverage and are a great way to counter pokemon locked in outrage. Take togekiss for example; switch in to an outrage, free nasty plot, sweep / flinch hax.

So yeah, I'd say they're a welcome addition. I'd like there to be some pseudo legendary fairies, but then they'd potentially become the new dragon type.

Absolutely. Pokemon, as great of games as they are, is mired in tradition with no big changes before this. Before Fairy type, I think the biggest change was separating moves into Special and Physical based on what they do rather than type and that was R/S/E, three generations ago now. Not only was it a major change-up, but it also weakened the also extremely powerful Fighting types as well as giving Poison types more than niche positions. I approve of the change wholeheartedly.

Yes.  While I don't think they needed to a new type to de-nerf dragon types, it did successfully do that.  It also improved the usefulness of poison and fire types.  Also, making another type would require them make most of their new Pokemon of that type.  There already were "fairy" Pokemon that could easily be part of that type.  It also allowed them to fix a lot of Pokemon that were really lame.

Yeah, I'd say. A lot of Pokémon became better just by becoming the Fairy type like Togekiss(especially so I'd say), Mawile, and Gardevoir, and they added at least a few great new ones like Sylveon, Florges, and Xerneas. Overall I really love the type, with its brilliant resistances and weaknesses, and the fact that it can really wreck Dark, Fighting, and Dragon types, I almost always have a Fairy on my team. :yay:

Yes because Sylveon is so kawaii it hurts and waifumon gardy has been massively buffed.

Also Dragons were everywhere in gen 5, take note that Haxorus was considering to be very close to hitting UU by the time Gen 5 had ended so they needed something to keep them in check. Poison needed a buff of some sort too.

The real question is how the hell the giant imposing panda and cthulu seem to be headed to RU/NU while Charizard, Pinsir, the regional bird and the evo of Sword are now the kings of OU

I mean I know why but jesus what a shake up of the system man.

Oh yes. Dragons are not quite as prevalent now, although they are still powerful. I admit, I was worried when I first heard about the new type, as it could have made things worse, but I am happy with how it turned out.

Of course I do, it was added in the game to oppose the OP Dragon Type, and is a nice touch, I really do like how a lot of the new fairies are designed, and the Pokemon they decided to include to be Fairies as well.

I did find it to be a little overpowered playing through the game... But do understand, that may not reflect on the type as a whole. It was more that I loved using Sylveon and the game's Exp All raised my Pokemon to such a high level that I mowed through the rest of the game with Sylveon. lol

I'm just happy to have another type to deal with dragons. Powerful attacks, powerful attackers and powerful coverage; you pretty much had to have a steel type somewhere to try and sponge those outrages and draco meteors. Of course, I've always kind of had it out for dragon types.
