Either 1940s or 3rd century BC. The reason for the latter is because that was around the time the Egyptian city of Alexandria was founded by Alexander the Great. It was the world center of commerce, culture, and learning. The Alexandrian Library was probably the city's greatest asset, right behind the legendary lighthouse, the Pharos, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. The library was where we humans first collected all the knowledge of the world. It's a shame there is hardly anything left of it today. I would have loved to visit that library and read the vast collection of scrolls written by some of the greatest minds back then (Berossus, Aristarchus of Samos, Hypatia, Ptolemy, Euclid, etc.). 90% of that is now forever lost in history.
