Anime bloggers what do you think of them, the community and the medium?

I do like anime though I don't really follow it. I'm okay with the anime community since some of my YouTube subscriptions are anime fans. Dorm anime bloggers probably are elitist but not all of them.

Anime bloggers can be elitist, but most of them are pretty alright, as far as I've seen.

I like anime but I don't particularly take part in the community or follow news on it. If I find something I want to watch the most I look for is if it's English dubbed so I can figure out how much I need to look around for a copy of the anime or if I can just find it on like CrunchyRoll if it's not dubbed.

 

I wouldn't really know where to go for news but there's always Anime News Network. By name it should be where you get the latest news, eh?

 

I used to get my news from Anime Insider but that got shot down back in 2008.

Anime has never been my thing; it's so confusing and disorienting. Overall, I can't get into anime at all -_-

 

Also, the community doesn't bode well with me, honestly. For every cool dude that's into anime there's two dudes who are utter jerk-offs. Luckily, though, all the anime-lovers I've spoken with on this site are hella cool

 

Can't say on the blog, since I don't read anime blogs, so I have no ability to make a judgement on that matter, not knowing anything about them

 

So, yeahh. There's my opinions on anime as a whole

Obviously I'm not saying everyone in the community is like this, but having to deal with so many assholes wanting to murder me over the most trivial bullshit like like watching a fucking show in a language I actually understand just shits all over my opinion on the community

I haven't watched hardly any anime since Poke'mon when I was a kid. I'd like to do some reviews of anime tying into videogames just for the fun of it. Also to kind of of crack a few jokes, hopefully.the anime fandom can laugh at themselves. Either way it'll amuse

Depends on the Anime.  Most of them are just utterly ridiculous.  However, there are some good ones like Black Lagoon, Gundam, Code Geass, and a few others.

I'm with you on the whole language thing. People try to say all English sucks compared to Japanese but it's like...you don't even speak the language, how could you possibly know that they are better? This obviously doesn't apply to everyone as there are people who genuinely try to learn Japanese, sometimes because of anime. Even if we WEREN'T comparing the two, English voice actors ARE good, people just don't want to give them the chance because it's "not the original" or hear them when they are at their worst voicing a character that they aren't used to and give up on all of it.

 

What's more is I find subtitles distracting. I like to see all the little details on the screen but having to read subtitles at a million miles a minute I don't get to do that and I miss little animations that make an anime great. Fuck that. I want to see it all.

 

But I digress...

An anime blogger is someone who post reviews, editorials, news, opinion pieces and other articles on a blog either primarily about anime or dedicated to it, they be a casual blogger or a pro. A very few anime bloggers I've come across have seemed snobbish, and elitist.

I like anime. I watch some every week, though I'm not obsessed over it. I watch over stuff too like Doctor Who and well MLP of course heheh. I haven't really had any bad experiences with the anime community and the anime fans I have met usually are all pretty cool so yeah. And I don't follow anime bloggers so I don't have an opinion on that. I'd say I watch 1-2 hours a week, maybe more or less depending if I'm into a show or not.

As long as it does not contain any unnaturally huge breasts, scampy clothing or horny tentacles, I would be perfectly fine with it. Sadly, what I just explained is all I basically see nowadays, at least what I see people tossing in my face. Then again, I would be seeing much more decent things if I actually decided to find something.

 

However, I have seen a few anime in the past. I've seen Pokemon, Fruits Basket, Ouran High School Host Club, and a little bit of Mew-Mew Power. I don't know what anyone thinks of any of these, but I think I like Fruits Basket the most.

 

So, yeah. Depends. Greatly on the SFW factor.

I agree that most anime fans are pretty douchetacular.

 

As in, if their heads were shoved any further up their assholes, they'd be able to eat their food twice before it even has a chance to digest.

 

As for anime itself, I find it a bit odd, but I don't hate it. I watched (and thoroughly enjoyed) Evangelion, as well as some of the more notable works of Miyazaki, but I have found neither the time nor the will to get into anything else.

I used to hate everything that had to do with anime, as I did MLP, but then I decided to actually watch it and I found that there's some pretty decent stuff out there. As you can tell by my avatar I've recently become a huge fan of Dragon Ball Z. Soon I'll start watching more animes but as an American viewer some can be hard to get into. I can't stand reading a TV show so if it doesn't have an english dub I won't watch it

Well, I've always loved animation, and I make absolutely no exception for anime. In fact, my favorite series of all-time is an anime/manga - One Piece.

 

However, I have always been at odds with at least a good portion of the anime/manga fandom.

 

Obviously, the elitism against other forms of animation is bothersome. But I also hate the elitism within the anime/manga community. However, I can't fault the anime/manga fandom in particular for this one, it's just people. This same kind of elitism is very widespread within the music "fandom" as well.

 

Another major issue I had with the fandom is the amount of piracy. I suppose this comes from the way I was raised, but I do not feel entitled to download everything I want without paying for it. Anime/manga is a product, and this fandom has shown to me exactly how bad false entitlement gets. English companies in recent years have made incredible strides in bringing over more titles to us, MUCH faster (simulcasts and simultaneous publishing of WSJ, and with better translations/dubs, but that's still not enough for this community. As long as words like "nakama" are translated, they will stick to their illegal subs and avoid supporting the companies altogether. It drives me up a wall.

I'd have to say nay. Anime influences both bad and good things into our lives. But you you watch too much violent anime, you have a tendency to become violent. I've also noticed that serious lovers of anime get aggressive when someone insults anime. It just makes me wonder.

I've never read any of anime blog. I don't have so much time to read stupid things. So, I don't think that they are elitist.

No. I don't like people, who watch only anime and talk almost always about anime. And think, that the best contry ever is Japan, although they have never been there. It's weird, when they talk, that in Japan is fucking paradise. Because it isn't, lol.

But I know some normal people, who call themselves otaku and they are normal, but not much

 

Do you like anime?

Depends. I only watch gore anime with interesting story. So, I don't see many anime, a few only. And I watch it vevry rarely.
