What is a proxy server, how do I use one, and where can I get one?

A proxy server is a server that acts as a "middle man" between your computer and the internet. It can put a "mask" upon your computer so that any monitoring that is going on from whatever website you access gets a different message, essentially hiding you and your internet actions.  It's a lot more complicated than that, but that's the gist of it.

 

You can buy proxy servers packages, or there are many online ones that are free. Even your web browser may have some addons (such as Mozilla). Although, if you torrent or download anything, the proxy's may affect the final product gotten, or may make the downloading process more difficult and/or lengthy....
