Lemmie defend the Chan real quick, even though this conversation has otherwise advanced beyond the point where I care about it. Everyone is a terrible person in some respect. 4 Chan is just honest about that fact. That's why they're respectable, in my opinion. I also admire the power of anonymity, Moot's made quite a few good points on it and how it promotes free idea exchange (for good and ill) if you follow him on Tumblr.

What I've realized in recent years, is that at the end of the day all you're doing is being a bully. I've long since stopped thinking that "being a dick" is something that anyone should be proud of.

What I've realized in recent years, is that at the end of the day all you're doing is being a bully. I've long since stopped thinking that "being a dick" is something that anyone should be proud of.

Nobody can force anyone to be a decent human being, it's just something that all humans should want to do. I know trolls inferiority give them comfort in online superiority in anonymity, but I just think that maybe instead of trying to make internet memes out of suicidal children and lashing out like the pissy 14 year old boy who was never good enough for his daddy, maybe they could just try to be nice, make some actual friends, get a girlfriend, maybe a job, join a club, and surprise themselves with how the world repays you when you are the best you that you can be. Once upon a time I was 13, I thought other peoples distress was funny, and I tried to get a rise out of everyone, then I grew up becasue I realized how lame it was, and I was tired of being another societal parasite. You can contribute, or you can take away.

And also, 4chan users aren't really dicks, imo, they're really just able to take a joke and have a crude and straight forward sense of humor. I've seen actual pricks on 4chan, and normally the users bash them and tell them to leave.

Thats the difference between "trolls" if you will, and myself. I don't hate anyone, and yeah a founder that knew a way to attract a plague of insecure mid 20's- mid 30's men that lack proper social structure. People are allowed to have artistic tastes however they please. I quit going to that website when I became a freshman in highschool so I guess you can speak on your own behalf if you truly believe that 4chan is responsible for everyone being bronies. It doesnt make sense to me that you take so much pride in a site with people that have no balls to come out and say the hurtful things they need to say without being anonymous. You might as well say that 4chan created half of the internet, because half of the internet has passed through the /b/ folder. There is a difference in taking a joke, and making a hateful meme out of people that have passed away, and jsut being completely disrespectful. We all have friends,(surprisingly in the internet trolls case) and we all have people that dog us and we dog back. However I am comfortable saying what I have to say to someone to their face, and speaking from my perspective, not snickering behind a keyboard for correcting someones grammar after they tried sticking up for a dead kid being made fun of by trolls.

Everyone does have flaws, I can be a real asshole to but I don't indiscriminately attack everyone and say my anger issues and bad attitude aren't problems because they're things I seek to fix or at least minimize. I try to use that part of myself constructively or vent it in non-harmful ways.

I never said you should. I admitted myself the site has some merits(such as /x/ on a good day) but it's like a toxic pit where even the best boards eventually rot and turn to crap as the worthwhile discussion  get's buried under shitposting and bile. Literally everything worthwhile from there(this fandom, Creepypasta, and even memes to some extent) end up forging their own identity outside the site and eventually start burning bridges to it much the same way /mlp/ is quickly becoming toxic and alienated from the rest of the fandom.

Same thing here. I grew out of that bullshit sometime in High-School and started trying to be a productive member of the net.
