Pick a Flaw - S4E19 For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils

This ain't so much a flaw as it is a nitpick.

 

Plain and simple, I was expecting a cutie mark.

I am way behind in season 4. My dad will not keep them on the DVR, so I catch them on youtube before they're removed. This episode is my favorite in season 4 so far, I can't find anything wrong with it. Simply put it just shows how much Rarity loves Sweetie Bell over her own career in fashion. Sweetie Bell immaturely gets jealous and almost ruins Rarity's career. 

 

Although one question is raised? Can Luna really go into the future? Or did she scare Sweetie Bell into not pulling such a stunt again?

Sweetie Belle's behavior - not because it was a big flaw of the episode (maybe it was a little too exaggerated), but I just don't like meanies and wanted to pick one option other than "other".

I've seen some good analysis's poke at things like claiming the past dream sequence dragged,

and for me personally it didn't bug me.

 

By the time I'm done reviewing it might,

there's nothing wrong "in" the episode.

 

If i had to find fault is that it took so long to get this much with luna.  That's not really a failing of the episode but the staff.

I don't get how people say Sweetie was being OOC , like , she barely gets a development of her personality in the show!, this is the first episode where we can see a major character development , i also don't get how her bad behavior is a flaw for the episode, i mean, that's the whole point of the episode.

 

And even since Twilight Time we can see that she is a filly that wishes and desires for attention and recognition, man, if you analyse past episodes, you can see that too in Sisterhooves Social (how she was upset because of Rarity's lack of attention towards her),

 

The fact is that everypony has a flaw, and MUST have a flaw, if not, it wouldn't be a well written character, and hers is that, along with the lack of autoconfidence (she's still afraid of singing in front of everybody)

 

And i don't see how that makes her like DT, because DT also wants attention, but she wants it at any cost (the butler doing everything for example)

This is a question which I was so interested in myself as it was in itself a hole in the story so far so let me start with this. The holiday Scrooge story made sense it showcased the thoughts of scrooge as it contemplated his hatred of christmas and why and where he might end up though in that it was merely him, no outside help was involved. The interaction was presented as Sweetie bells thoughts and despite it being that way Luna showed the past to her which must mean in this sense that Rarity might have been thinking of the same thing maybe, though the portion of the possible future was interesting when they ended it with Luna at Saphirshores place and without even being asked knew what was going on show casing her physical or rather mental presence was there in Sweetie Bells dream but to prove her showcasing the future well My only evidence is the mare in the moon myth as it was predated 1000 years before her return.

I chose Episode Pacing as my flaw for this episode. I'm mainly referring to Sweetie Belle's flashback to her 5th birthday party scene.

 

This is just a minor nitpick but I doubt that 5 year olds in real life would have such a broad vocabulary. My cousins are 5 years old and they don't talk like that. 

 

This scene mainly bugged me because it played twice in succession w/o any buildup or anticipation whatsoever. We see Sweetie's pov of her memory than Luna suddenly changes it so that we're seeing it from Rarity's pov. If they played Sweetie's version at the beginning of the episode when she's lashing out at Rarity, then it would have made the whole scene a lot stronger.

Was not a problem for me either. Maybe i was just invested too much in the whole affair.  I was like: "Ohmygosh! What is happening? Sweetie Belle what have you done? What will happen next? Will you make up for the errors of your ways? Such drama!  "

I thought Sweetie Belle's behavior was a little bratty, but at least it was necessary to the plot and was resolved well.

I would have to choose 'Sweetie Belle's behavior', although there also were some pros for her behavior.

She was being selfish to the point were she was just plain rude, but then again, she did learn from her actions and desperately tried to make things better with Luna's help, which shows how much she really cares for her sister.

And, it did show semi character development, for now we know she can get pretty dramatic just like her older sister.

As much as I'd love to take the time to complain about how shockingly dark this episode was for the show... I go on to remember that Sweetie Belle sucked in this episode.

I'm sorry if I did not watch the episode, but if I had to pick a flaw then I would say that Sweetie Belle's behavior would be what would have turned me off.
