general media Most heroic characters

Who do you think are the most heroic characters? They could be from anime, movies, comics, books, whatever. Here are my top 10

Usagi Tsukino (Sailor Moon)

She is practically a living embodiment of the elements of harmony, in spades. She started off as a whiny brat who only cared about pigging out and dating boys, but she ended up getting a ton of development. Now, she's the best friend anyone could ask for. She shows kindness by sparing most of her enemies, only killing when necessary, and redeeming those who want to be redeemed. She shows loyalty by standing up for her friends, even putting herself at great physical harm. She shows honesty by being extremely reliable. Even in the earlier episodes when she was usually late, as said in the Sailor Moon x Batman crossover fanfic, she couldn't take the bus from her house and she ran as fast as she could, even tripping and scraping her knees to make it to downtown where the action always happened. She showed generosity by visiting Mamoru in the hospital when they were little, and also by giving a flower to that one alien who was gonna send an asteroid crashing into earth in that one Sailor Moon movie (think Super S). Also, by giving Queen Nehilenia a chance to take her full revenge on her, knowing that she would've killed her if she did so. She shows laughter by being one of the most happy go lucky people anywhere. Only Goku and Pinkie Pie has her matched in the happy go lucky department I think. And she definitely knows the magic of friendship. Honestly though, I was tempted to put all the Sailor Senshi in the number one slot, because they've all showed strong character.

Sapphire (Sailor Moon)

He did whatever he could to show his brother Prince Diamond that he was being manipulated, and the Wiseman who was guiding him was really the Doom Phantom. He ended up sacrificing himself to tell him, which triggered Prince Diamond's transformation from villain to tragic hero.

Laharl (Disgaea)

Even though he would hate being on a list of heroic characters, and he is the overlord of the netherworld, he always ended up doing the right thing in the end, despite how much he hated it. And when Flonne was turned into a flower by Lamington, instead of taking him out for revenge, he sacrificed himself to save Flonne. He also showed a strong emotional side in Disgaea D2, when he was wishing Etna good luck in his own way when she decided to take her brother's amulet that was full of the netherworld's magic to keep the magic from getting out of control. And also, by accepting that one girl (forgot her name) as his little sister, even though she provided only one bit of proof of them being related.

Kikaider (Android Kikaider the Animation)

Despite being made a robot, he ended up slowly developing emotions, especially when his friends were in danger. He fought the submission circuit within him that would've turned him evil, holding out til the final episode where he was forced to kill his own brothers to stop Dr Gil. Even then, he didn't become evil, but he did become fully human.

Megan (MLP)

Think about it, she was a little girl, who fought alongside her pony friends to stop some powerful evil. She could've been easily killed, but she still got involved whenever possible anyways.

Sora (Kingdom Hearts)

He's not only saved numerous worlds from being destroyed, but he shared his heart with Ventus, and even sacrificed himself to protect Kairi. And he's returning in KH3, because he knows there are still people out there who need him.

Cecil (Final Fantasy IV)

He started out as a Dark Knight, and the only reason he stayed a Dark Knight for so long was out of loyalty to the king, who he didn't realize got replaced by a monster. His guilt tore at him for a long time, until finally, he ends up becoming a Paladin, finally overcoming the shadows of his past (literally), before going off to save the world.

Rydia (Final Fantasy IV)

Despite Cecil and Kain killing her mother, and destroying her village with a firebomb, she not only ends up forgiving them, but she overcomes her fear of fire to learn fire magic to help her friends, and later after she disappears, she comes back from the monster world just in time to stop Golbez from finishing off Cecil.

Virginia (Wild Arms 3)

Despite facing overwhelming odds, this brave girl united people who would be the salvation of Filgaia, and even when all hope was lost, she never lost hope and fought on, even preferring to be labelled as an outlaw instead of fighting the people who were trying to kill her and her friends due because of a misunderstanding. And her speeches near the end are perhaps the most inspirational speeches ever.

Sialeeds (Suikoden V)

Some people hate her for preventing Lym from being rescued earlier, but she knew that if she did that, that wouldn't have solved anything. She sacrificed her reputation and her life, to fight for her beliefs, because she knew that if she didn't, even when the prince won, there would've still been the same corruption and new problems would arise, so she took the system down from the inside.

Shining armour

Like yeah, he is just so awesome! A true true hero in MLP :)! He is exactly as I imagine a hero to be, so I guess he is stereotypical and not as interesting as some that have been mentioned here, but he fits perfectly.

Just about anyone in Madoka Magica, really.

Including Kyubey and post-Rebellion Homura.

How is Kyubey a hero by the traditional definition of the word? Or, like, any definition of the word?

Kuwabara: took more pain and punishment than anyone else in Yu Yu Hakusho, and he was the only character who didnt actually need to fight.

Rick The Prick: (a character from klay world) stuck his hand in a rocket launcher to save his friend.

Mrs. Brisby from Secret of Nimh.

No powers, no mad fighting skills, just the willingness to risk her life to protect her family.

Honourable mention goes to Solaire of Astora.

I guess he is stereotypical and not as interesting as some that have been mentioned here, but he fits perfectly.

Nothing wrong with being old fashioned. I'll take a well written nice guy (Capatin America, Carrot from Discworld) over any amount of brooding, "tortured" heroes.

You can't get more heroic than this guy.

All the Hell he goes through is for Zelda or the Kingdom of Hyrule.

This guy is the one true hero!!
