Why take the show seriously?

Even though your points are valid and they do make sense, it's just that no matter what happens with the fandom, people from the fandom will Shove MLP in everyone's faces, And haters will arise because of that. it's just human behaviour really.

How long ago was that? I have 1 gay friend on there, it's just, I've run across a lot of assholes who just wanted sex and relations.

I've heard people are often leaving the site, as it gets boring or people are scared off by drama.

I remember often rolling my eyes at the HomeStuck fandom as well. I'll admit, I searched porn and shippings but when it came to people whining about the series, I got really annoyed. Those people were highly critical of the comic and raged on whenever Hussie added something the disapproved of. The fandom has so much recolors, as does the Keroro Gunso fandom. I actually know people in real life who consider themselves "Morails". It's ridiculous and I'm forced to keep quiet about how idiotic I think their fake relationship is.

..I hate fandoms in general, I dunno. Makes me cringe how I always seem to end up in one.

It had to have been late 2011 or early 2012. I didn't use the site to much(because as I've said before, it wound up being far easier to find a nice brony chat group on Facebook as well as the forums here and FiMfiction) but I really did see behavior like that. It could have theoretical been a lot of really young people with social problems that you saw. I will say again though, 90% of the people on my feed seemed to either be gay or bisexual with a serious leaning towards gay. I'd also like to point out the site had a serious over-lap with the furry fandom, take that for what you will.

Note: not bashing, I AM a furry after all.

I think you're letting the small minority of bad bronies get to you, there are way more good and innocent bronies to the fandom who mean well

I think so too. Honestly, I always try my best to listen to everybody's points of views and I do have quite a few brony haters as friends.. Guess my thoughts get tangled, trying to understand every point of view. *shrug* Oh well, we all post things that make us cringe.

Ah, they probably have quit then. Most people do.

Yeah, people on that site aren't exactly the friendliest of people.

Their social problems don't mean anything to me. I'd never make a stupid mistake and expect it all to go away just because I'm socially awkward. I would explain myself but wouldn't expect to be forgiven.

It probably has something to do with how I add random people but I don't know.

Harsh but kinda true.

Before participated in this fandom, i always wondered why bronies are so much hated.

After spending some time in the fandom, i can now pretty much understand why those 'haters' hate the fandom so much.

It can be hard to try and understand every view when not all of them are rational. I'd be willing to bet that a good deal of hate heaped upon bronies is a function of either a.) people using a very small sample size (i.e., bronies who might in fact be off-putting) or b.) Cowboy Bebop at His Computer (i.e., not bothering to study the media/fandom but nonetheless rendering a claim to a firsthand opinion).

Why so serious you ask?

Please, go to the middle of a fotball game and ask the players to not take it too seriously.

Sure, at the end of the day its a ''tv show'' and a ''cartoon''. but you're not me and im not you. So you cant possibly understand why I feel a really deep love for the show and fandom.

That being said, im an individual and everyone is different. You cant find any other brony that is like me.

Just because ''the fandom'' thinks celestia is some sort of dictator who banishes ponies to the moon doesnt mean I do.

Infact I probably disagree with alot of what the ''general fandom'' agrees on. But I still like them, and they can ship whatever they want. Because I still have my opinion.

I personally don't understand why anyone hates anyone. If you want to be a brony, be one and if you don't then don't. Why do people find it necessary to hate on those that don't share their views? I like MLP:FIM regardless if 5 people do or 5 million do.

If I wanna buy merch, I will on the other hand I wont if I don't want to. I don't think your life is defined by just liking MLP, If I choose to decorate and spend most of my time with MLP that doesn't make it my life, just my main hobby. (Not saying it is my main hobby.) I really think everyone should just do what they want, and move  on. If a community forms because of a "fandom" there will always be those that hate on them. For those in the fandom to hate on the haters, well that's just pointless.

I decided to be labeled a brony, call it getting lost in the fandom or call it obsession. I really could care less. If I like it, I'll continue to like it until I decide I no longer do. If I forever like MLP then so be it. Those that don't care to take the label or even see the point in liking the show anymore shouldn't go around questioning why everyone else still does. So they do, get over it. Many people cosplay and collect things for different anime/cartoons. If someone in 20 years from now still likes MLP, watches it every Saturday and still collects merch then so what? To each their own.

There's my two cents.

Dude, their are not nearly as many crazy hardcore pony lovers in the fandom as you might think, every fandom has it's draw backs and the MLP fandom is no different, I don't see why YOU are so upset about the whole thing, after all if you don't like it so much, then you don't have to call yourself a "brony" you can just call yourself "A fan of MLP" and just shun the rest of the fandom away if you would like!

Btw, I am not hatting on you in the slightest, in fact I agree with a lot of what you said! :)

Your feelings are a bit hurt? lol

What, you didn't expect a reaction from the people you were calling out? You expected evryone to roll over on their belly and say "wow, man, I compltelty appreciate your point of view"?

I'm not even mad about you haing bronies. Far from it. I've encountered haters far more passionate than you with far more valid reasons to hate on a group.

I'm just severely annoyed at your impressive ignorance of the subject and your refusal to open your crusty eyes to a different POV, yet your insistance on staying here.

Go ahead, block me. I really, really couldn't give a flying f*ck, becaseu the only times I've seen you post is for you to say judgemental sh*t.

I'm merely saying what alot of people here are thinking but have too much decency to say.

Guess what, being socially awkward isn't always intentional and doesn't equal asshole. They may legitimately not know how to handle themselves talking to girls due to being very sheltered or very young.

I admit, it may not show online since I can express myself via text so well but I'm awkward as hell around people I don't either already know or have a specific reason to talk to.

You could literally replace the word "brony" with "weeaboo" in that post.

Yeah the MLP:FIM fandom is the first fanbase I've been properly exposed too I.e not just watching the show, listening to the music, reading the comics all that but also being around the forums and talking to other fans on a semi-regular basis, and of course looking at all the posts, images, and what not people constantly put up.

At first I thought it was the brony fandom who was this wierd and intense, then I realized after looking at other fandoms more closely that that is the nature of a fan base for anything. Be it video games, be it anime, comics etc. When you get to the heart of it, the people who are most interested in this stuff are going to be the creepiest about it. This fandom is no different, there is simpler more of us so we are louder.

I actually agree with most of your points. Then again, maybe I'm a bit "atypical" because I'm not male.

Regardless, I still like being a part of the fandom. Seriously, we make some pretty cool shit, and I know not all bronies are as freakin creepy and possessive as the ones you describe.

Some bronies really do need to take a chill pill though.

As far as male bronies being creepy towards you, you should just politely tell them to fuck off :D

I expected hate but I didn't expect to agree with most of the comments placed infront of me.

My emotions work randomly, I could be sent death threats and feel nothing but then be hurt by the stupidest of things.

This thread was made knowing full well what could have happened and I was prepared for it.

I'm just severely annoyed at your impressive ignorance of the subject and your refusal to open your crusty eyes to a different POV, yet your insistance on staying here

What are you talking about? I already changed my mind because of the other comments on this thread. I just needed to be shown that it's not all that bad. Is that so wrong? I highly doubt you haven't made any mistakes in your lifetime.

Go ahead, block me. I really, really couldn't give a flying f*ck,

Why would I block you? You're only expressing your opinion and feelings on this thread. Being blunt is a good thing, I don't just block people for being harsh with their replies, that'd be petty. I'd only block people if they're constantly spamming me or if they've legitimately harassed me.

Don't you think you're overreacting, just a tad?

Guess what, being socially awkward isn't always intentional and doesn't equal asshole. They may legitimately not know how to handle themselves talking to girls due to being very sheltered or very young.

Nobody's entitled to forgive anybody and if they think their issues are an excuse to behaving poorly, then that's not my problem. They'll never improve if they just blame everything on their social awkwardness and I'm not just going to forgive somebody who tried to cyber me while they had a girlfriend and then yelled at me for telling on them - followed by stalking my profile after being removed. Yeah, no. If it were just some awkward messages, I can ignore it but just saying they'e socially awkward and deserve the benefit of the doubt isn't helping anybody. I've met too many guys who pull this crap.

You could have made that clear at first instead just saying some dude was trying to flirt with you.

Also, fun fact: I'm not naming names of anyone involved but we had FEMALE member on here toying with guys that way, so it's in no way a male exclusive trait.

Wouldn't that have been evident in the OP where I pointed out that some people attacked others for rejecting them?

Actually, no it wouldn't because that still why and how they were rejected vague and I could argue both ways on whose right or wrong if only given that information? Was HE just being a creep? Did SHE act like a asshat and belittle him when she let him down?

Not to me either.

I don't know the exact case, I've only heard of these instances but those factors don't matter, on account they say that any girl who isn't with them is a bitch. My friend has told me they had posted this as their status.

Yes they do, when judging who is in the wrong the exact nature of the interaction and the exact words exchanged means a hell of a lot. Going off on someone for calling you "creepy little horsef****r" is understandable while doing the same because someone said "sorry, I'm looking for a relationship right now" is being an asshole.

Except I'm not. I'm not seeking a relationship, I have relatively no merchandise, I don't clop, I don't ship, I'm currently in college, and I have other hobbies and interests. Don't make blanket statements with falsified facts like your "90% of the fandom" comment (though those people do exist). It doesn't make us look bad, it makes you look ignorant.
