When was Celestia born?

I've often wondered when Celestia came about into the world of ponies.

If you had to guess, what year do you think she was born?

Also who do you think her father and mother were?

I think she was born during the Medieval times in their universe. As for her parents, we might not know for sure let's leave the fan fictions to tell us.

Like Scootalove said, she was probably born in the Medieval times, as well as her being over 1,000 years old, so im guessing she's 1500 yrs old, and Luna 1300 years old.

 

As for their parents.......indeed, we'll leave it for fan fics.   Yet, in my fan fic, I somewhat introduced their parents who had left them in the care of their older/enstranged brother, due to prev. conflicts (has a similar historic reference there).  So yeah.......its a very long story, but there are some, including mine that may involve Celestia and Luna's parents,

I just don't think she was the first pony or anything. Definitely the oldest living one though, except Discord perhaps if he counts as a pony.

She is somewhere after the Fire of Friendship and 1000 years ago from current equestrian date. During the Fires of Friendship, unicorns handles the sun and moon movements so the Princesses were not needed yet.

So far only fan speculation can come out of anything relating to Celestia and Luna's Childhood.

 

If anything they lived like normal royal ponies and simply took over when their parents died.

It was definitely after clover the clever who came after star swirl. Celestial ruled I'm guessing for approximately 1000 years before discord's reign of chaos. Perhaps she wasn't born, seeing as she never ages. Perhaps she was plopped down to equistria from another dimension

I'm guessing sometime between the founding of Equestria by the 3 Tribes and prior to the takeover of Discord (since she was fully matured by the time she and Luna defeated Discord).

Well we know that 1000 years ago both Celestia and Luna were fully grown Alicorns, powerful and confident in their ability, but still young enough to need to seek the Tree of Harmony and The Elements to defeat Discord. I also think that Celestia and Luna are only a couple years apart and stopped physically aging around the same time. It is unknown whether or not they were born Alicorns, but I am willing to bet they ascended. I want to use the Three Tribes Era as a reference, but I can't find a canon timeline for either that or Star Swirl, but they were not yet in power. I place their birth after the formation of Equestria, and their ascension within 100 years. Not knowing the exact time, I will guesstimate Celestia to have been born 1500 years prior to Luna's return, unless a canon time for Equestria's formation is arises.

 

 

I'm going to go on a limb here and say she was born when her mom knew she was getting older and was losing her power to raise the sun.

Now this raises an interesting idea. It is possible that the Rulers of Sun and Moon, like phoenixes, "die" and regenerate in order to maintain their power, meaning that Celestia could be a few thousand years old or only a couple, at least in her current incarnation. She may give birth then die, with her essence passed onto the offspring. There are two questions that stem from this: how often do they need to renew, and when the first Sun Princess was born or ascended. My first instinct is to say that the current incarnations are at least 1000 years old, because they looked the same fighting Discord, but we don't know whether or not the offspring are identical to the parent. As for the question of the first Sun Princess, she would have had to taken the role post-Three Tribes, raising the question of where she came from or what she did during the Three Tribes Era if she existed. This has rambled away from the question at hand, but the idea is that Celestia's year of birth may be difficult to anticipate even with clearer timelines.

 

One more random sidetrack: What if the Elements of Harmony forced the regeneration of Luna, destroying the corrupted Nightmare Moon Luna and giving birth to a new Luna, explaining her smaller size and initial lack of a magic wavy mane, she had not yet regained her power at that moment.

On a similar note, I think it would be awesome if they did a spin off movie telling the story of Celestia and Luna before they became immortal demi-goddesses.  It would be the story of their mortal lives, and how they became immortal.  My Little Pony: Ascension.  Before they were goddesses, they were ponies.  Oh yeah.  That would rock.  They need to make this.  In your face, Equestria Girls!

I guess she was born( or created) in the era, when Titans was banished into Tartarus. And Equestria needs someone to control sun and moon.

About her parents... What if Celestia and Luna never had parents? What if Tree of Harmony created them? If Tree has power to create crystal castle in 5 seconds, so why it can't make 2 goddes-alicorn-princesses. Well.........if she was born when the Sun was created, that's like "prehistoric times" or the "Big Bang Theory" type of thing.   However, IMO, they don't look old at all.    They still have a young appearance, so i think they are only "successors".
