RainboomCrash 173 May 19, 2014 Share May 19, 2014 I play American Football so I go to the gym and, as such, visit bodybuilding forums; I've noticed that many bodybuilders, in their unrelenting quests to be "alpha", seem to have disdain for Bronies, so I was just wondering how many of you are gym goers (in particular, bodybuilders). Also, would you wear pony clothing to the gym? I'd just love to see someone benching like 150kg wearing an MLP tanktop or something of a similar ilk.

Fluttershyfan94 5,742 May 19, 2014 Share May 19, 2014 @,There are a couple you might be referring to this guy: https://www.youtube.com/user/jaxblade07 He's awesome. I don't go to the gym I would totally go there wearing a pony t-shirt. I'm not a body builder, I have a few weights at home if I wanted to I could totally lift those 150 kg easily. lol I know there are a couple of bodybuilding bronies, at least on youtube and some on here I think as well. 1 DA: http://fluttershyfan94.deviantart.com/ Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/Fluttershyfan94
Appleloosa 90 May 19, 2014 Share May 19, 2014 I frequently go to the gym and lift, but by no means do i body build. mostly agility and lifting specifically for baseball. And I would never be able to wear mlp stuff there, wouldnt hear the end of it. Omg, it would be amazing to have some guy throw on 3 plates with a fluttershy tank
Shanks 10,816 May 20, 2014 Share May 20, 2014 Also, would you wear pony clothing to the gym? I'd just love to see someone benching like 150kg wearing an MLP tanktop or something of a similar ilk. Once I build myself back up to the monster I was before you very well might get an opportunity to see that it will most likely be my Applejack shirt both because she is my favorite pony and is the most physically strong of the mane 6. I got into weight lifting in high school and built myself into a monster but didn't stay as consistent with it as I should have afterwards. I got 4 work related and 1 semi work related knee injury that has reduced my lower body strength considerably but has thankfully not affected my upper body strength. Before my 5th knee injury I got back into weight lifting but got my 5th because I didn't fully heal from my 4th knee injury and sprained my shin which spread to my knee while doing walking lunges. I was off to a good start getting back into it and that happened, I haven't had a workout since (unless you include my physical therapy sessions and going for walks) but will fairly soon with most of my focus being upper body until my injury heals. 1 Rarity Get's Cockroaches

ponypowa96 106 May 22, 2014 Share May 22, 2014 Never expected to see a thread like this here. I'm not an incredibly dedicated bodybuilder, but I do it as a hobby and I like to think I'm in pretty decent shape, I'm a mesomorph, 6"2, 195 lbs and have 7% body fat. Could be better, but I've been avoiding steroids like the plague and I don't want to become one of those people who have such insane muscle definition that it begins to look gross. I probably go to the gym twice or three times a week, finding it hard to break through 200 lbs. I take creatine supplements occasionally and have a strict carbohydrate cycling diet, which alternates between a "bulking" diet and a "fat cutting" diet every two months or so. My lifestyle is otherwise rather sedentary. For the bulking diet, I try to get carbs and meat/protein every single meal. Best diet I've found to grow is just to get a decent protein intake. It's also important to limit carbs to stuff like pasta/brown rice/vegetables, and cut down on all sugar unless it comes from fruit (even then, on a limit). For the fat cutting diet, it's just the standard ketosis diet of protein, vegetables and a 20g carb limit per day. After about a week, the fat cutting diet will taste revolting, but it's pretty much the best way I've been able to reduce my body fat. And once a month I have a cheat day, where I just go to a restaraunt or something and order something purposely unhealthy. The thing I found hardest to cut out was fruit juice, I still get huge cravings for Tropicana in the mornings. ~=[,,_,,]:
Rugby Brony 23 May 23, 2014 Share May 23, 2014 I bodybuild enough to stay in shape for rugby, mostly legs and cardio, arm strengtg isn't important in rugby for my position but it's still useful and I can bench a little over my weight.
Nulln 755 May 23, 2014 Share May 23, 2014 I don't know if I count or not, but I'm trying to get into bodybuilding. I keep breaking toes and messing up knees and stuff though, so I have slow if any progress. :/

Oblivion 20,266 May 23, 2014 Share May 23, 2014 (edited) I do like to lift, and use to lift a lot more when I was inhigh school, I really didn't lift to become a body builder I lifted for stregnth alone. It was more or less just fun to see how much I could manage to pump up from week to week. And yes, I do a lot more lifts than just bench press. Fox 5,330 May 23, 2014 Share May 23, 2014 I twisted my wrist, hoping to hit the gym again to work out my upper body. No bench for four weeks has been really annoying for me. I've just been working out legs doing squats, leg press, leg curl, calf raises, ect.. I'm thinking I'm going to have a disproportionate body if my wrist doesn't heal any sooner. I wouldn't call myself a body builder, but I do take gym more seriously than casually. When I think of body builders I think of deadlifting like 400-500lbs+. (MARVEL) Blue Blood 991 August 11, 2014 Share August 11, 2014 I plan on working out some time in the future. I'm only 5'6 and a half, only 130 lbs, and I need some extra weight, so I'm going to get muscle to gain that weight I need. Second in Command of the Marvel Alliance!!! GhostPony750 959 August 11, 2014 Share August 11, 2014 We were forced last year to do bodybuilding, and I hated it. Maybe it's because I don't have enough energy due to my stomach problems, but it's very boring. Here's some specs: -60 push-ups -140 situps -I can lift 240lbs more than 25 times with my legs, I didn't bother doing more. And I sit infront of the computer all day long... SolidTwilight 383 August 11, 2014 Share August 11, 2014 (edited) I don't go to the gym and I am not a bodybuilder, but I do exercise several times a week. mostly biking and swimming. when I was in high school I was 220 or so with maybe 28-30% body fat. I started going to the gym after high school and went down to 180 and then added muscle and got back up to 192 at around 20% bodyfat after about a year or two of going to the gym. a few years ago I did p90x for a few mouths on an off and it did not make be to much bigger but it really halp me get define muscle tone every where. also lots of swimming help do that too. I just finished my 6 mouth training for the Ironman triathlon I did 3 weeks ago and my new goal is to get down to 12-15% body fat. I may start going to the gym and lifting to help me do this but I don't know yet. Edited August 11, 2014 by SolidTwilight

IcyT 0 August 27, 2015 Share August 27, 2015 I do chins and Kroc rows at home, too antisocial to lift, if I did I don't think I'd have the guts to wear MLP stuff if I had it. I would love to be swole and rock it, but would need to be VERY swole. More than likely I'd still not do it, but being a Bulk Biceps guy at a brony con would be nice.
