gaming I want a Wii U, but there are more cons than pros.

I have a Wii U. Even though it's less powerful than the Xbox One and PS4, I like it more than those two. Atleast I can play my Wii games and virtual console games all on one system. The off tv play is pretty useful. Most of the run smooth at a steady 60fps, except for some games run at a smooth 30fps like Wind Waker HD. The Wii U has what I want and the PS4 and Xbox One doesn't. I could get most of the games on PC, like Titanfall.

I think you havent played it.

You should try it, instead of listening to the punks that told you that BS.

Its a great console.

The Wii U isn't a bad console by any means. It's just I would rather spend $100 extra and get and X1 or PS4. The exclusives aren't enough to cover the third party support and lack of online multiplayer for me.

And the controller has some cool features, but if you think it is a good controller if it didn't have the screen, the you are delusional. It's clunky and huge.

I want a Wii U, but I've heard so many bad things about it that I will wait for another price drop.

Plus, I just got a VITA, so I have my share of a portable device atm.

imo, it's gonna be worth getting soon in the future.

I know I have been off the topic for a bit. But I want to say thanks for the input. Here are my main gripes from buying it

Storage is lacking

The Wii Pad sucks. I also need to drop $50 on a pro controller that is an upside down Dual shock

I shouldn't need to buy a third party USB wifi adapter. Nintendo should have made a competent wifi part

$300 is too much in my situation, since I'm going to bronycon

Kingdom Hearts III is not going on the Wii U(The X1 and PS4 are not off the hook either. I'm disappointed that KH3 is not going to be on the PC.. There's no excuse)

So yes there are games I want to play. But there are third party games on the PC I can get for a dirt cheap price. Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros and Star Fox are the main sellers for me. The 3D Mario games and Zelda games have lost their flavor.

*Objections*

The Wii U Gamepad doesnt suck.

If you had the original wii, you can have addittional controlers.

KH3 is a PS3 game.

Storage? GET A FUPPIN SD card!

Actually, The newest 3D mario isnt all that bad. Its quite fun.

Dunno where you got your sources but KH3 is going to PS4 and Xbox One. Everything I've ever read on the subject says so. Not one has mentioned PS3.

Well, if you think the games will be worth it, get it. Otherwise, don't. It's not like it suddenly going to drop off the planet, you can always pick it up later when it's more appealing (and if it actually does fall of the face of the Earth, you'll probably be glad you didn't get it  :P ). I don't know how anyone can really doing much of anything to convince you one way or the other.

I personally don't like the Wii U. I don't have any interest in most of their exclusives and I've fallen out of love with Mario platformers and such. There's only Smashbros., and I'll get that for 3ds, and maybe Zelda and Metroid to look forward too. Bottom line is I'm just not interested enough in what the Wii U offers.

I know KHIII is on both those systems. But leaving out the PC is not fair.

I'd rather they kept it exclusive. Exclusive titles often work better than multiplat ones. More focus on the creating of the product than trying to make it work on multiple systems.

Getting it for SSB. That's literally the only reason why sales go up for Nintendo things like the Wii.

Um... Not correct, like at all. Mario Kart Wii sold three times as much as Brawl. As did the majority of Wii series titles, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and even Super Mario Galaxy sold better by a much smaller margin.

Mario Kart 8 may be the true test of the Wii U's success.

I've got a ps4 and I'm waiting for some new games to come out. Just picked up Watch Dogs today and I'm loving it so far. I decided I wanted to go with Sony this gen cuz they're coming out with some cool exclusives, and it's going to be my go to system for multi-plats. (Need to get a much bigger HDD eventually cuz games take up from like 16 GBs to 60. Not joking.)

As for the Wii U I'm gonna wait for more exclusives to come out. I think 32 GBs should be plenty if you're not looking to but Multi- plats like CoD, GTA, and Assassin's Creed. Though I'm sure they'll come out with bigger system storage. Personally, Nintendo needs to go with a proper HDD, which would open up a lot more opportunity for game development, without save limits.

Well, I'd like to point out a few more pros about the console.

  • Freebees.  Nintendo has been doing a lot to repay consumers for buying their stuff new rather than used.  For example, if you register Mario Kart 8 within the first month of it's release, you get a free download of either Mario 3D World or Pikmin 3 (there is another game on that list, but it's a stupid one).  They've been doing a lot of promotions like this.  Even when they are in the red, consumer satisfaction is priority number one!
  • Cost.  Not only is the console the cheapest, but games are properly priced.  None of that "pay $15 for Tetris" nonsense EA pulled.  The Wii U is the most economically sound investment of the 8th generation.
  • Navigation.  The gamepad makes it incredibly easy to navigate through menus.  I actually browse the internet with the Wii U, and it works quite well.  Nintendo's eShop and other social networks are also rather easy to navigate.
  • Multimedia.  Yeah, I find it quite funny that the Wii U can do all the nonsense Microsoft advertised the Xbox One could do (even the stuff it really couldn't do).  Nintendo TVii is a central hub for Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Live and can reasonably replace your cablebox.  There have been some hiccups, but it's had a strong start.  Which is more than the Xbox One can say.

So...Nintendo, if you're looking for a new marketing director, I'm open for the job.  And I just proved I'm better at advertizing your console than you guys are.

I know some have a wii u here. It's an ambiguous system that has games I want to play

Super Smash Bros

Mario Kart 8

Mario 3D World

New Super Luigi

Star Fox(if it even happens)

I want to get the first two games on the list since I am a Mario Kart beast, a legend, cannot be stopped. Same with Smash, but I am not that good in comparison to Mario Kart.

The Wii U is just garbage as hardware. I can get passed graphics. I'm talking about the lack of passable storage space, I mean who will pay $300 for 32GB of storage? :eww:  Also why don't we have an Ethernet port? We is the controller awkward(the pro pad has the two analog sticks on top. This system just has to much problems. Also my veteran status on Smash is over since the gamecube controller is gone. Same with Mario Kart, which I have been loyal to. Nintendo in Mario Kart Wii and 7 punished players for being skillful. In Mario Kart 64 and even Double Dash. You can dodge the blue shell if you had some intuition. In the newer games you will get stomped. My friends told me in Mario Kart 8 the blue shell can be stopped with some critical thinking. I hope he's right.

So again...I want the system. It's too expensive and the PS4 is $100 more with better features and will have more games.

As a Wii U owner, I'd just like to tell you that you can't really appreciate the Wii U (or its gamepad) until you've tried it. So if there's a demo somewhere in your area, or if a friend has one, I'd highly suggest you play it for a decent amount of time, to get a feel for it.

However, if you think the price is too high, there isn't much I can do for you... I like to get physical copies of my games, so there's rarely a reason to download something as huge as a "AAA game". You can always hook up external storage... As far as an ethernet port, you can buy a USB to ethernet adapter for it. Awkward controls? If you haven't tried it, you really should. And if you have, and it's impossible to play like that, there are some third party "Pro Controllers" that move the control sticks to be more like Xbox.

Yeah, Mario Kart 8 is pretty punishing to players in first, too. Seeing as it's more of a family/party game, though, I can see why they wouldn't want one person to always be in first. The blue shell is much rarer now, though, and there's a new item that can block it and other projectiles, as well as spinning out players that are next to you.

So I guess it all comes down to taste. If you like Nintendo games a lot, it's silly (at least in my opinion) to let these few problems (almost all of which can be solved) steer you off. I think it's a great console; the only problem I have with it right now is the lack of games, which, with Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros., a new Legend of Zelda game and more around the corner, won't be a problem for long. :)

I'm sorry, not meaning to be rude, but I have to find it funny that you went and made that last line, when the information you posted in the bullet above is false.

The free downloadable games you can choose from when you buy Mario Kart 8 in North America are New Super Mario Bros. U, Pikmin 3, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, and Wii Party U.
