Working with FIM in a competitive light, I say no... but only personally. There's just as much downplaying as there is overplaying in the forums that its lost all sense of stability. When your fights go from "MLPverse vs Galactus" to "MLPverse vs one Marine", it gets kind of tiring trying to explain everything.
It eventually ends up with an entire thread talking about deestablishing things that happened onscreen, something i've never seen done for any other show. If Superman busts a planet, Superman busts a planet, and that's it. If you want to prove anything in MLP, you need a DNA test from Celestia confirming its her magical DNA on the sun, and a letter from Congress. fifteen pages later, when we finally decide that yes, it is Luna moving the moon, and not the invisible hand of TOAA... it immediately jumps to deestablishig something else. It gets...repetitive after a while.
The other side is worse. I've heard people argue that Discord could defeat Emperor Joker and Mr.Mxyptlk because he can't die unless chaos is destroyed, and chaos always exists. I've seen people say Twilight Sparkle could take on Darth Vader because "MAG1c Haxzz"! It's so mind numbingly dumb that I start to understand why people hate these match-ups.
Bottom line: Fanboys won't let it go, and haters won't take it seriously; i've given up making MLP fight threads for that specific reason. It will never end well.

They're able to move the star around pretty easily (Return of Harmony and Twilight's Kingdom), at least their top tiers like Discord and Twilight with all of the Alicorn magic can. Other than that, I pretty much agree the Imperium of man stomps.

I don't. I think bronies are more likely to give the Mane Six and others a chance where some would just say "no they're ponies, X would kill them!"

 

Just off the top of my head for instance, if Twilight was fighting a wild Pikachu, I think Twilight would trounce it. Where a non-brony, unaware of Twilight's upward capabilities and just spiteful of the setup in the first place, would just say Twilight looses on the first Thundershock.

I was simply illustrating that bronies don't think the Mane Six can kill everything universally, just that they will weigh the strengths and weaknesses of them against their opponent as fairly as they would any other match up.

Let's think about it rationally, then. For the ponies, we'll use Celestia because she's the pony god.

 

I don't think Mario wouldn't be able to do much without power-ups. Jumping on her wouldn't do much in normal form, but Mega-Mario would crush her. He could freeze her with ice, but I'm assuming that, with her being the embodiment of the sun and all, it wouldn't be effective. Same for fire-flowers. So unless Mario has a Mega-Mushroom on him, he's got a tough fight ahead of him. Celestia could also just send him to the moon, but from Mario Galaxy he wouldn't die from lack of oxygen. Let him fall off a building and he's gone.

 

Unless Celestia's got some kryptonite on her, she's screwed, so let's go to DBZ. Goku is one crazy strong motherbucker, so he'd be a tough fight. If he can't take out Celestia on his own, he's got to power up, and that takes forever, so Celestia could just impale him with her horn right then and there. Of course, that is assuming Goku doesn't take her out. I mean, Celestia's strong, but lately she can't really take a hit. Goku could punch her a few times and she'd be down.

 

Personally, I think magic beats guns, but that's a matter of opinion. In the end, the ponies wouldn't always win, but they'd put up one heck of a fight. (I know I didn't put examples of all the characters, but I think you get the idea.)

If we're talking mythology, then hercules. At his weakest, he's as strong as Beowulf, but has much better items(poison arrows, an invincible coat,etc.) It only gets progressively worse from there,every other version of Hercules is overpowered and I don't remember another version of Beowulf.

Considering Twilight was pushed through a mountain and survived, I'm sure she can withstand a much weaker bullet. Heck Discord split his head in two without any problems so bullets likely won't hurt him either.

Didn't Star Wars received a massive nerf to their abilities though thanks to Disney retconning tons of lore in the expanded universe and nearly destroying it in turn? As for the rest of your info, I heartily agree.
