Best: Shooters

Worst: Strategies.

I've always been a casual shooter player, they just seem to come naturally to me now, although they're not the only games I play.

As for strategies, not only could I never get into them, but I just don't have the patience for them either.

I'd consider my best to be racing games and side scrollers. I've managed to beat kaizo Mario with a little perseverance and I can usually just pick up any racer and jump right into it.

My worst is easily FPS games. A lot probably has to do with my crap reaction time, it takes me top long to process an enemy suddenly appearing.

WORST:

Side Scrollers (Literally anything on the old Nintendo consoles, with the exception of Mario Kart and Super Mario Kart)

You and me both. For whatever reason I can't get good at sidescrolling platformers for nothin'. There's just something about the limited range of sight that throws me off unless I've played a game a million times like Sonic.

Haha yep! They're the only video games my little sisters were better at than I have ever been! I even struggle with the Minecart game on the MLP app! The Clear the Skies game is easy for a side-scroller, but that darn Minecart game is rough for me!!

I'm a pro gamer I make YouTube videos of me gaming but I will admit I'm not great at every game out there

my best games Real Time Strategy like Sims 3 and Animal Crossing also Strategy games like Stratego and Civilization Revolution, Racing games like Need For Speed and RPGs such as Dungeons and Dragons (the imagination game) but for actual video game RPGs I would say stuff like World of Warcraft, Wizard101, Skyrim, and Fallout

my worst games are Fighting games like WWE the game and Mortal Combat also Sports games like Madden NFL and FIFA

Kudos on the nice thread idea. :)

As for me:

Best:

-Platformers: I basically grew up on this genre playing Mario, Sonic, and Disney platformers on the Genesis, NES, & SNES, and didn't have much trouble adapting to the realm of 3D in Spyro the Dragon. I also love Sly Cooper & Ratchet & Clank. Awesome.

-Racing: I also grew up playing games based on auto-racing; such as Virtua Racing for the Genesis. As the genre has improved, I took a liking to Need for Speed & Forza, so my love for it is still strong.

-Action/Adventure: I feel like my first foray into this was Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine, but the controls alway worked against me. It really wasn't until Uncharted came along did I REALLY fall in love with the genre. Since then I've played other Uncharted games, Tomb Raider '13, and a little Assasin's Creed. Awesome stuff.

Worst:

-Fighters: Yah know, I love the fighting genre in a way as I grew up with Mortal Kombat & fell in love with Soulcalibur II, BUT I'm still terrible at these games. XD

-JRPG: I guess I'm intimidated by a system that seems complicated. I have nothing against the game, but some of them seem...so complex.

Decent/Adapting too:

-WRPG: Thanks to games like Skyrim, Witcher 2, and Dragon Age: Origins, I found an awesome home in WRPGs. Now, I'm still learning things and I definitely could be better, but hey! Getting there.

-FPS: Similarly, thanks to Bioshock Infinite, I have found that FPS games can be QUITE enjoyable.

-Sports: It...depends, but I'm not that great as certain sports games, but I still have fun with them. Meh.

Naw, they aren't particularly complicated. Some of them just have issue teaching it to you properly.

The only games I know that actually have legit complicated battle systems are games like Resonance of Fate. Learning curve is the name of the game on that one. lol

That was one of the games that came to mind when I wrote that. XD

Honestly one other game that I WANT to love and actually somewhat enjoyed was Final Fantasy XII; but things like the license & gambit systems kinda went over my head, though thanks to DA:O I think I understand the gambit system a little better at least.

The license board is pretty self-explanitory. You get LP from fighting and you spend it there. You can't use anything from spells to equipment until it's unlocked on the license board for that character.

The Gambit system is little more than a queue of importance. The number one slot will always be more important than the number two slot, which will be more important than the third slot, and so on. As long as the condition for the previous slot is true, it will always happen before the slot after it.

So putting Cure - Ally HP < 30% in the first slot and Thunder - Flying enemy in the second slot Cure will always activate as long as any of your allies are under 30% HP. Afterward it would go to the next slot and make sure that condition is true.

Typically you'll wanna put healing Gambits first so your characters heal when necessary. Another good gambit to have at the top is Steal - Enemy HP = 100% and then when you've stolen from them you manually attack them so they stop looping the Steal command. This will net you LOTS of materials to sell to the Bazaar and whatnot but you gotta watch out for the HP = 100%. If you have that on all characters they are just gonna steal forever even if the enemy doesn't have anymore items as long as the enemy's HP is full.

Best:

JRPGs

Some platformers

Worst:

Just about everything else, but especially real time strategy games. I just can't grasp them enough to play them well at all.

Y'know, I've been on this site for almost ten years and I've never had a proper signature. Ain't that something?

I think my main issue with the license board was that I was always unsure of what skills or equipment I was going to need later on, I was wary of getting LP then spending on stuff I didn't need.

As for the gambit, that makes sense. Dragon Age: Origins uses a very similar system, so I think I could get used to it, though your explanation simplified it for me a bit more.

Thanks. :)

My advice for the license board is to just wait to spend until you have the item, skill or spell itself. If you get an item that's good for your characters, try to find it on the license board. You could, if you so wished, make it easier on yourself by looking up a complete mapping of the license board so you know where to go and when.

Also keep in mind that you should only unlock stuff you know you're going to use but that might be more of a second playthrough thing when you know what skills and spells are better.

The only things you absolutely do want to unlock as soon as possible are the ones that increase item potency effects and increase your HP and MP.

Ahhhh, noted! That actually makes perfect sense. I'll keep that in mind then whenever I get to playing it.

TBH it has been a while, but I think I can get back into it fairly easily (if my old PS2 will allow me).

Best: Racing (Arcade racing mainly, though though I can hold my own in a more realistic racing game.)

Fighting (I'm by no means 'amazing' but I consider myself pretty good, and I love playing them, so...)

Platformers

RPGs (I haven't played many Western RPGs to really forge an opinion on them, but JRPGs definately)

Shooters

Worst: MMOs (I've never played one, but I'll just assume they go here)

MOBAs (I just... don't get them, sorry)

RTS (Too much resource management for my liking)

Sports (I just don't like sports, period.)

I like to think I'm good at RPGs, the ones I play anyway. I'm not too bad with fighting games either, well Smash Bros Melee/Brawl anyway, I can do some stuff.

I'm not great in platformers with a high amount of collectables though, I tend to enjoy Mario games the most in that genre since they tend to be simpler with that. Sometimes games with arbitrary grading systems can throw me off too- I mean, I barely did anything wrong in that segment! Why only A instead of S? That kind of thing lol, I kind of hate that Sonic games do this for example ;-;

5. puzzel games

4. bullet hell games

3. turn-based games

2. stealth games

I'm a Nintendo-centric fan so I'm especially familiar (I wouldn't call myself skilled however) with RPGs, battle arenas, platformers and other level-based games. I used to be pretty good at online arcade games but that's been a while so I'm not going to regard it as my stronger suits anymore. As for puzzle games, it all depends.

I'm laughable at best with first person shooters and realistic racing ones, however.

It would be easier to say what vg genres I am not horrible in. xD

I am okay in RPG's and strategy games. (Well those are the two easiest genres ever, just use five minutes to find out how things work)

Other than that I am a bit over average in dota 2 and CS:GO. I suck in most other games.

I enjoy FPSs mostly as well as many RPG/Action/Adventure series like Elder Scrolls (ok... Skyrim...) and Assassin's Creed.

Mostly I'm into BF4 right now, which leads me to...

SHAMELESS SELF-PROMOTION!!

If you are an avid BF4 player and would like to use some of my pony emblems, see the link in my sig! I'm trying to build up a sort of following.

Thanks!
