  1. Twilicorn and EqG were once seen far-fetched. Megan McCarthy said, "Every little girl wants to be a princess" and that there will be 53 alicorns(this one might be an April 1st joke). At this point I'm not sure if she really means it or she trolls us.
  2. An alicorn Rarity just surfaced. As we learn from our experience, we can’t easily dismiss every rumor because while some of them turned out to be false, some of them were confirmed. Let’s speculate the possibility that the mane six becomes alicorn princesses. The poll: I like it because they all deserve the reward. I like it because it’s their destiny. They are the element bearers after all. I like it because they look better as alicorns. I like it because they are equal. I like it because it opens doors to new possibilities. I’m looking forward to episodes where they learn to fly/cast magic. I don’t like it because it cheapens alicorn myths. I don’t like it because the mane six don’t represent 3 races anymore. I don’t like it because it propagates the message “Every little girl wants to be a princess”. I don’t like it because it’s executive meddling. I don’t like it because some of them won’t be comfortable being a princess. I don’t like it because it’s difficult to get used to their new look. I can’t relate to them anymore. NOTE: You can select multiple options.
  3. The stolen tiara isn't the Element of Magic. It was another tiara which was worn by Twilicorn only during the coronation ceremony.
  4. What's the point in being a princess if Twilicorn keeps asking everypony to treat her as a regular pony? It's awkward and it gets tiring real quick. Having said that, it's the scenario I disliked the least because at least Twilicorn seems to inherit Twilight's personality and I can feel sorry for her. Some pro-Twilicorn might still be disappointed that Twilicorn isn't as royal and graceful as they would hope.
  5. Sibsy gives some interesting details about the season 3 opener which can be found in the video below at 10:33 and 36:12. I think It's safe assume that the issue of not fitting to be a princess will be brought up. I still can't find any piece of information which would confirm or deny that the transformation is permanent. I tried to piece together all available information but I wasn't able to come up with a consistent theory.
  6. At the end of episode Celestia said: "Congratulations on your success, ponies. I definitely sense a big change in Discord. [to Twilight] I'll leave the Elements of Harmony with you, Twilight. Just in case." Why would she let Twilight keep such dangerous artifacts if Discord had been reformed? Unless Celestia knew what was going to happen when someone casts the spell. Another thing. Let’s take a look at what the writers said about the Star Swirl’s spell at Unicon. What do you think of it? Asker: I have two questions for M.A. Larson. Asker: In the season 3 finale, what was the original intent of Star Swirl the bearded’ spell? M.A. Larson: What’s the one one? [snip] M.A. Larson: ...As for the first part, I’m gonna take the Fifth and pass it over to my left Meghan McCarthy: Oh, I can’t... FinalDraft: You brought it upon yourself Meghan McCarthy: I know. Meghan McCarthy: Um. That’s a good question. I don’t know if we went into it knowing what he thought that the end result was he was sorta working... what he was working towards... Um... But.. Yeah...
  7. I actually consider Twilight and Twilicorn to be completely different ponies with different appearance, social status and personality. It looks to me as if Twilight Sparkle was killed off to be replaced with a new pony. If there was no fandom, it would be easy to wait for Season 4 to find out whether or not the worries are justified but the fandom can't wait and people are already excited about Twilicorn and they come up with stories which explore Twilicorn's duties and personality. Meanwhile Twilight is gradually being wiped out from the existence. After Derpygate, people were concern about Derpy being wiped out and that the consensus would be that she was offensive and people should never mention her again but in the end Derpy lived on in the fandom and she is loved by everyone. Looking at the Twilight/Twilicorn ratio trend in fanon, I'm afraid no one will remember Twilight by the time Season 4 starts. People seem to agreed that becoming a princess(celerity/boss) should be everyone's goal and it's more important than being someone who has a very focused talent in a specific filed of knowledge.
  8. Actually Brain from the show called Family Guy isn't treated as a pet but as a family member. Maybe the same thing applies here.
  9. But baby Cakes have been having magic surges for at least a month(Happy monthiversary). Anyway I personally don't understand why are people looking forward to seeing her learning to fly. I see it as exciting as watching an adult learning to ride a bicycle. There is no interesting struggle like addressing Scootaloo inability to fly.
  10. Faust said that Celestia and Luna were meant to be the only alicorns and Cadance was supposed to be a unicorn. Things had changed in Canterlot Wedding. Cadance become an alicorn. It was easy for us to accept it because it's a new character. She is easily to ignored and according to Brony Study, she is the least liked character anyway. Despite the change, the established canon doesn't support the "Alicorns=princess" theory. Unlike Cadance, Twilight is a fully established and developed character and she can't radically changed without anyone noticing. If Twilight become a princess trough the most unconventional method possible, I don't see why Shining Armor couldn't have the same alicorn treatment too. Blue Blood was established as a unicorn before the change and he's a supporting character which plays a significant part so you can't easily dismiss him.
  11. You said that royalties are supposed to stick out. But neither Shining Armor nor Prince Blueblood is an alicorn. They didn't have to undergo any transformation to become a prince.
  12. She's definitely taller and it can be seen in the EqG trailer. Why a mare supposed to be tall and be an alicorn to become a princess while it isn't required for stallions? It's akin suggesting that girls should undergo a cosmetic surgery to be allowed to be recognized.
  13. Does she want to look majestic? She's also taller now. Does she need it? It's not like she can reach higher places now. I guess she's having a better view in crowd and sticks out among ponies like a sore thumb.
  14. That would mean that Celestia tricked Twilight into using the spell, fully knowing what would happen. If it wasn't for Celestia direct influence, nothing would have happened by itself. The transformation was evidently initiated by Celestia when she started floating and radiating light. Why would they put this scene otherwise? The color of aura isn't as important at this point. It also should be noted that neither Celestia’s nor Twilight’s horn was glowing at the time, and Twilight looked confused. Twilight had already realized and applied magic of friendship before in a more impressive ways. It’s also hard to believe that she understands friendship better than anypony else who lived during Celestia rule. We should have been seeing more alicorns. It breaks willing suspension of disbelief. We already know CMC’s talent but they haven’t realized that yet. Their talents are so natural for them that they don’t consider them special. As for Twilight, it wasn't established that she was going to be transformed. Unlike cutie marks, the concept of transformation to Alicorns wasn't properly integrated into canon. If this can happen, we should expect that everything is possible while previously it appeared that ponies didn't see their world as strange.
  15. The problem with this idea is it's not what the MLP:FIM crew wanted to do. If the crew was independent, it might have worked but they’re not. It will be seen as giving up all creative control to Hasbro. I don’t think artist will like the message that they should surrender their creative freedom.
  16. Let’s consider these hypothetical scenarios even if you can’t imagine that it will ever happen. People believed that some people were overreacting over nothing, only to find themselves in the same situation later on. They're going to be more dramas in the future which will claim new victims who wasn't affected before. Scenarios: 1) You realize that the show isn't as good as it used to be or some sudden change deeply upsets. Latter you find it difficult to filter out the things which constantly rubs you the wrong way. 2) You’re deeply disappointed in some fan made content and it start affects your enjoyment of other fan made content. Eventually you don’t like any fan made content. 3) You’re no longer feel yourself in tune with the fandom because your opinions are different from the people who are staying loyal to the fandom. I understand that It might never happen to some people because they don’t have high expectations for quality, consistency or would rather find ways to explain faults to keep positive attitude. I think that if they let themselves believe in negative opinions, they’ll likely lose interest. Which is why they prefer to shield themselves from negativity. For the sake of this poll, let's assume that negativity took over you. EDIT: the show refers to both MLP:FIM and EqG.
  17. @Zygen I posted a video where Sibsy said "She's not super down with it". Even if she becomes comfortable with this new role, it would mean that her characters has to change and people don't want this to happen.
  18. I think we should establish what princesses actually do and which values they represent. Once we agreed on that, we can start discussing whether or not Twilight would like to be a princess. I did my interpretation of princesshood in the post #4. I don't want Twilight to be this kind of princess because she wouldn't be comfortable with her royal duties. You can suggest your own interpretation of princesses. You don't have to relay on the show this time. Maybe I'll like other types more.
  19. I think we have different ideas about what princesses do. I base my understanding on what we see princesses do in the show(I showed examples above). I don't see them using their leadership and organizing skills as much being public figures. Can you give examples to back your vision of princess duties? Speaking about the mane 6. Rarity would be the one who would be glad to be a princess. She knows how behave gracefully in high society, wants to be the center of attention. She was hoping to fall in love with the prince which could have made her a princess. I relate to Twilight(we have a lot in common). This why I believe I can understand her better. By saying that she dreams about becoming a princess, you're indirectly implying what I'm dreaming about becoming a leader which isn't true for me. I prefer to be an expert in the field of my expertise, but occasionally I had to take leadership roles while the coordinator didn't have the time or motivation to do his job properly. The same way Twilight wouldn't take leadership role unless no one else steps forward or the formal leader is incompetent(Mayer Mare in Winter Wrap Up).
  20. Actual transcript: Young Twilight Sparkle: I am so lucky to have you as my foalsitter! Young Cadance: I'm the one who's lucky, Twilight. Young Twilight Sparkle: [scoffs] You're a princess. I'm just a regular old unicorn. Young Cadance: You are anything but a regular old unicorn. Twilight is very modest and doesn't think that she is special as can be seen in Boast Busters. But she has been special long before MMC despite being an "ordinary" unicorn. Having become an alicorn, she's no longer special because her talents are taken for granted. As for accomplishments. Whatever she did in MMC wasn't as impressive as what she did before. We are expected to believe Celestia that this was an unprecedented achievement without any explanation. M.A. Larson was asked on Unicon about this new magic and he told that he doesn't know what it was supposed to do. Since the writers didn't though this trough, it appears that this achievement isn't so important story-wise.
  21. I'd like to see how our opinion on EqG changed after watching the trailer. I think I'll make the next poll after EqG is released. This way will be able to see how our opinion changes over time. I have to warn you that it's a public poll. I made it so I could trace change in opinions. As for me. I'm not interested. The show has been ruined for me anyway since Twilicorn was introduced. My opinion on EqD improved because at least human Twilight neither an alicorn nor a princess. If you end up hating EqD, you'll have to get used to seeing humanized ponies everywhere.
  22. Let's look at what princesses do. Celestia takes part in Summer Sun Celebration, The Running of the Leaves, the Best Young Flyer competition, Grand Galloping Gala, the wedding, official visit to Ponyville in Swarm of the Century. Luna takes part in Nightmare Night(Luna Eclipsed). Cadance oversees the Faire, welcomes the Equestria Games Inspector. They are all are the center of attention in the coronation. Princesses in Equestria mostly do official visits and are treated as special quests of honor by folk, and I don't see them act as leaders so it appears that leadership isn't that important. I don't think Twilight will be comfortable doing her royal duties. In "Best Night Ever" Twilight wanted to talk to Celestia about magic. Interestingly, this episode shows that Celestia is bored by these social events. Take a listen at what Sibsy has to say about it at 36:30 I don't think everyone aspires to be a celebrity or a boss. I don't. I rather be an expert and I feel like Twilight would like to be a wizard like Star Swirled The Bearded. There is nothing wrong in wanting to wanting to be a princess but it shouldn't be expected that everyone has the same goal.
  23. It doesn't matter if some of these come true or not. I'd like to assess how important each particular reason for us. If it's a pro-Twilicorn reason, we'll rate it depending on how much we would like it come true and might be disappointed if it doesn't. If it's a anti-Twilicorn reason, we'll rate it depending on how much it spoils fun for us. When Season 4 starts, we will be able to see which expectations will come true and which worries will be justified.
  24. What again? As far as I can see this hasn't been done before. Could you elaborate the "stress"? Do you mean that she will be too stressed out due her new duties?
  25. I'd like to hear as many reasons as possible. You can also suggest some reasons which you often hear from the opposing party.
