  1. So, I invested $33 into Bitcoin and so far have made like 30 cents. Neat. :mlp_please:

  2. Loving other people is a great thing. Just don't forget to love yourself as well

This is a trait that I still struggle with, since it feels more natural for me to focus on others and ignore my own needs and desires.

  3. Really weighted down with stress from work and paying bills right now.  So I have a non-work related question for ya'll take my mind off of things.  What kind of interest would there be from some of you if I were to attempt a film-related podcast or YT series?  I don't really know where to start on any of that, but I've always enjoyed reviewing and discussing film and cinema history, and something like a podcast is something I've mulled more than once in the past.  Probably would have to find someone else to do it with, but I just want to get a general sense of if people have any interest in my thoughts on film and other creative enterprises.

The technical side is easy enough. I listen to plenty of casts that have the hosts all in different locations. It certainly be fun for me considering I’m that rare breed that loves classic films from the Golden Age as much as modern fare. Plus there’s ton to discuss regarding contextualizing Hollywood present news with history if you wanted to occasionally touch on news.

I’d love to do a Hitchcock episode, since modern horror seems to be borrowing from his bag of tricks.

Interesting. My bucket list includes creating something similar. Perhaps we could collab on a conversational podcast about cinema and cinema history.

  5. I really think I have some of eye strain. They hurt for quite a bit right now and I just feel like going to sleep. Anyone else got similar issues?

Yep. Then again I spend an unhealthy amount of time reading and correcting Java and C++. Always a good idea to incorporate some break time. Another thing that happens is that I can't work from my bedroom. My body associates it with the place I sleep so spending any time in there not sleeping tends to make me feel a little tired. This is why they tell students to study away from the place they sleep.

I figure we can discuss a seemingly shared admiration for more "underground" acts.

  10. The mass shooting in New Zealand yesterday is pure right-wing, white supremacy terrorism. People like Trump and their racist, threatening rhetoric are directly responsible for it and its increase over the past two-plus years.

Let’s raise the game of the discussion above single minded tribalism. Let me toss out one of the thousands of studies that show that there is danger in communicating rhetoric. Ready? I doubt you are because a few of you did what the studies show.

The attitudinal or behavioral outcomes of media use can be expected to influence selection of and attention to media content. This process can be conceptualized in terms of mutually reinforcing spirals akin to positive feedback loops in general systems theory. This reinforcing spirals perspective highlights the need for longitudinal modeling of mutually influencing media selection and effects processes; study of the impact of such processes in youth and adolescent identity development; and analysis of social and psychological factors that control, dampen, or eventually extinguish the influence of such spirals. This perspective may also, more speculatively, be extended to address the maintenance of social identity for political, religious, and lifestyle groups. The relevance of a reinforcing spirals model to theories including spiral of silence, agenda-setting, framing, cultivation, selective attention, and uses and gratifications is also discussed.

And yes, this IS who you think it is. Assuming you haven't forgotten me already, of course. Been super busy with Uni work lately, so not much time for forums. Decided to unwind for awhile and check up on things around here since I finally managed to catch a break.

@Blazelicious Why in heavens name does age have to do with a person liking a cartoon? That’s kinda absurd. I turn 42 this month and no one is ever going to tell me what I can watch on my devices and TV and enjoy. This site have quite a few my age and a few older so ... I suggest that you drop it. K thnx

Also Moon landing is why Fhaolan likes BSG and Buck Rogers confirmed! He was weaned on space!

@Captain Clark you mean an entertaining game not a good one. Each punt means the Defense kicked ass. I’m biased since my top five favorite players are Linebackers and Safeties, but balance can be boring too. Most of those play calls by the DC were brilliant with each DC almost perfectly anticipating 3rd down calls from the offense. Even with Goff holding back until the mic drop didn’t stop it, even though that was a great attempt at trying to get the Parts D out of their head.

Oh and it was a VERY clean defensive game. Very few penalties on D and no real unsportsmanlike moments. This is old school football that I grew up watching.

Congrats. I’ve said this before, I live for good defensive games and this was a crazy good defensive game. So many drives killed by stellar plays on the ball! Many people who have become used to offensive affairs will hate this game, but like a pitching duel in MLB I quite loved this one.
