How is she still a teenage girl if she was Celestia's student before Twilight? There are a lot of things we don't know about her...

I don't really need Rainbow to be punished for that, the problem is that most of the time when a character does that kind of stupid stuff they end up feeling bad about it. She was crying because the plan failed and Tank was going to hibernate, which was something that was gonna happen anyway so doesn't count as a punishment. She never seemed to feel bad because what she was doing was wrong. There wouldn't be so much time for crying if they had to fix all the damage she could have caused.... I think that just realizing you did something wrong and feeling bad a about it is enough punishment, but it didn't happen.

As I said before, I can see Dash coming up with the idea of stopping winter. The problem is that she got too far, Twilight decided that it was a good idea to make the CMC fight (which was the only bad thing she did that episode), and did it immediately, not so much time after that she realized that what she was doing was wrong and faced the consequences of her actions (The town fighting for a doll). Rainbow, in the other hand, kept going after she realized what she was doing was wrong, and kept acting irrational for a way longer time. In the end, she doesn't even feel bad for what she did, it was justified because she was feeling sad and it didn't have any bad consequences. Why didn't it ? Cause she was lucky. That's it.

Of course. I do understand that it must have been hard for Rainbow, but she went too far and acted like something worse was happening. One thing is having a hard time accepting that, and other thing is to go crazy, try to destroy an entire factory and mess with the nature (Not to mention she tried to destroy all the hard work of the other ponies) without thinking of the consequences. That's an overreaction, and if it wasn't because it was so "convenient" for the plot she would have had to face the consequences of her actions. They could have easily pulled that message without trying to make it look "deeper" than it was. Just an episode about Rainbow feeling sad and the mane 5 trying their best to cheer her up would have been nice. No crazy plans to destroy winter, no overdone reactions, just a nice episode about the loss of someone you love.

Of course she has grown as a character. Just ignore last episode.

I noticed that too. That's the problem i have with this episode. Nobody was dying and Rainbow acted like it was happening. That's why half of the episode seemed like a bad joke to me.

I'm having a hard time. I always enjoy every episode regardless of their flaws, but this one.... I couldn't. It started really great, but the way it was executed totally ruined it for me... First, dealing with the loss of a loved one is a great lesson for the audience. The problem? Nobody was losing anything. If you wanna pull a message like that make sure the characters in the episode are actually dealing with something similar. Otherwise everything ends up being an over-reaction. They did a better job with that in "Castle Sweet Castle". Second, the idea of stopping winter was totally stupid. I can see Rainbow coming up with that idea, but no getting that far. How in the world didn't she get punished for trying to sabotage the weather factory? She was lucky it ended up making winter come faster, and only for the convenience of the plot. Finally, the continuity issues some people have mentioned. It could have been a great episode with an amazing lesson, but it failed. The episode had other good things too, like Fluttershy's characterization, the song, the humor, seeing how much Rainbow loves Tank... It's sad not even that makes me enjoy the episode, or at least bear it.

That just wouldn't happen. You can't get a cutie mark if you don't like it, that's not the point.

Great episode, probably the best Applebloom episode, and one of the best of the whole show. Dark, funny, disturbing, clever, and Luna... what's not to like? "You can't accept who you are" That's something that the ones who think that the CMC were acting stupid in "The Show Stoppers" should consider, and I've talked about this before. It's not that they didn't know what their talents were, it's just that they didn't wanna accept them as their special talents.
