  1. I think that's a fair point. But those who are so scared of losing their status or position hardly stick to calm and reason. Especially so since he had an inner moral of using dirty tricks anyways. You like Rarity, jazz, AND noire? Well, brohoof. /) If this was golf, that'd be a birdie.
  2. Yep. It's Spike. Rarity just doesn't know it. He's making a killing.
  3. You're not the only one! Alright then. I have to concur that this episode was quite splendid. Really now. *polishes monocle* Lady Rarity was at her finest, I must say. Rainbow Dash as well, I should add. I was absolutely taken by Lady Rarity's ensembles. Her coiffure, at various points, was simply magnificent.
  4. There is indeed a parallel there. Now the next question is how much is that merely a reflection of what the ponies wanted and how much is manipulation through marketing? If it weren't for Sassy's actions then would the dress have gained the same level of demand based on it's own allure and Canterlot's pre-existing desires? The ponies of this world are like humans in that they are pattern-seeking creatures. Sassy found a pattern and exploited it for success. So I pose a thought-inducing question. If it is possible to find a psychological aspect to what makes somepony buy or not buy, is it ethical to exploit it? Is this simply inevitable even if nopony did it intentionally? Keep in mind that there are, in fact, human psychological exploits in real life that are banned from being used. (As an example, check out: http://www.progressiveawareness.org/research_desk_reference/legal_status_of_subliminal_communication.html)
  5. I'm certainly not offended. Actually, I'm a Linux person so I'm hardly involved in any Microsoft/Apple fanism. I've only been against Mac because it offers nothing functionally unique (similar to Windows minus the PC games) and instead uses style and status to maintain popularity. But is that badly reflective of Apple or the people who buy it? That also assumes putting style before substance is a bad thing (which I admit I do happen to believe). This is actually a part of this episode's underlying message. Rarity has to choose what direction she wants to go because both are actually profitable in the end. She's just happier one way than another. :grin2:
  6. I was thinking the same thing while I was watching. I was like: how much money are you making from all of these orders? Can't you just like...I don't know, hire somepony else to do it while you design new things?
  7. Actually, this is how classic business works in the early stage. The process of becoming a designer and quickly signing deals with manufacturers is only a corporate culture idea. It puts emphasis on networking and marketing rather than old-fashioned hard work. Call me old world or whatever you want, but that's how it goes. Yes. ... What? You're right. There's only a finite amount of work an individual creator can manage. After that, it's either someone else's creative work or mass-production. The irony.
  8. All sorts of linkage on the Daily: http://www.equestriadaily.com/2015/09/season-5-episode-14-canterlot-botique.html Updates with info as time goes by. Support the show by buying the episodes when they become available.
  9. Yeah. Shoot, I've enjoyed some pretty awesome crack ships in my time. But I don't think Rarisass is that far fetched. Not that I'd go for that 100%. Sparity is my Rariship queen, so let's not go crazy here.
  10. And she made it on the cover of that mag. If only they had copies of that in doctor/dentist offices. Maybe I would read something interesting for once rather than Golf Digest (August 1974) for the 13th time.
  11. Well sure. I mean, that just makes sense. If you want greater variety then that means more time making that variety. They could do it but it would take time and money. Even if Hasbro could afford it, none of us would survive the extra wait time for episodes. We nearly died waiting just this long. Homogeneity is magic, I guess.
  12. I think a valid argument can be made that this presented several of the problems with modern mass-production. Homogenous replication is itself a lack of creativity and individuality but can also lead to greater levels of sameness. The more a mass-produced product becomes common through mass-production and mass-distribution, the more people will feel they have to fit in by having it. Thoughts, everypony?
  13. I see your point but for them to drag it out longer would require making it a multi-episode plot. I wouldn't have anything against that, but most episodes are one-shot deals. Only the most major plots get interwoven. I do like Sassy and wouldn't mind seeing more of her.
  14. Equestria is such a bright place. She was such a rebel I can't help but love her. Also, Maud vibes.
  15. Beautiful Rarity banner? I approve. :3

  16. Rotten/moldy watermelon. You haven't really died until you've caught that scent. Avoid if you want to live.
  17. Well, it goes without saying that nobody is completely in one of these camps and not the others. For the most part, I'd say I'm a skeptic, but I also have some traits of a pragmatist. Another way I might describe myself is: someone who accepts almost nothing at face value, is realistic rather than idealistic, but also does not settle for the status quo. A more poetic way of putting my views...

      LOL

She's Sunny and Twi's daughter from the future. <___<

      Oh, dear.... D:

Probably just a case of the writers being lazy with names. Or they like screwing with us. Probably that. xD

Yeah, I suppose it was them just needing to create another character on Twilight's level. Well, not quite but at least close as far as the maniacal planning goes. ;)

  19. The Perseids were incredible last night. ^-^

Oh, I didn't realize there was a meteor shower yesterday! -- too bad I missed it. :( Next time for sure!

Well technically last night was only the peak viewing, Jaxsie. You could still watch the night sky and have a chance to see some shooting stars. The shower will still be active as it diminishes over the next 1-2 weeks I think. Might need to check NASA for more details. :)

      Oh ok, I see -- Thanks! ^^

  20. Yes..... ...I agree with the others here. A live action could be really good if done well. Chance of it being done well: 0.001%
  21. I shower...with lava! I don't wash the dirt off - I burn it off! Hardcore! *Bulk Biceps YEAH* Seriously though, I shower every day. Down where I live, sweating is a part of life.
  22. Shire music....the FEELS! TT_TT <3 #ConcerningHobbits

Howard Shore is one of my fav composers of all time ^-^

  23. *pounds gavel* Here here. Let it be known to the House that the right and honorable gentleman has made his point. And what a wonderful point it is. Besides my terrible love of Lyrabon shipping, this episode did also satiate my need for a little more Flutterbat. We could use some vampire Shy in all of our lives.
  24. And aside from Twilight's moves and the great message, one of the greatest songs of the show...though I accept that may be my personal opinion. Rarity owned the stage.
  25. Words are not sufficient to describe how much she rocks her outfits. Seriously, for me it has to be Sunset. I love pony-Twi and can't wait to see human-Twi in the 3rd movie but Sunset has been my top pick since Rocks hands down. She very relatable and incredibly adorkable.
