So... Guessing Discord's going to be rendered useless this time again. Cozy glow reformation yeah yeah. Unless Mind Control is going to be involved i'm not sure if it'll be too interesting, i have to say that i wanted a sombra/chrysi finale, but i suppose tirek will do. If nicole dubuc is the writer... i'm not going to be too excited, i pretty much hated shadow play and School Daze felt a bit boring, matter of principal felt like it portrayed discord in a wrongful way and had a terrible moral, marks for effort had humor going for it, but fell flat in other ways.

Predictable, rushed and felt like a badly executed idea. The fact that RD and Rarity break up as friends so quickly just due to not finding similarities immediately just feels like a s2/1 thing, which actually applies to many of the later episodes, aside from the obvious student/school. Seriously, remove the students and the school and it'd fit perfectly into the early slice of life seasons. (I couldn't analyze this perfectly due to me actually not being able to watch all the way through at first, and barely making it to the end while groaning on the second watch.) Rating: 4/10 for being genuinely hard to watch as an episode so far down the line.

I found this episode to be enjoyable, though i agree with @PacificGreen 's points, however i also think that the Flim Flam brothers using the school as a ploy was a blackhearted thing to do, the sad thing is that corrupt schools like the one shown in this episode actually exist, just not exactly for expanding a resort.

Erm, i'm pretty sure Fluttershy Leans in wasn't a season 8 episode, I didn't dislike her overall goal and her achieving it, it's just that first off she apparently doesn't have enough knowledge of Angel and has to go to a vet, but we'll ignore that for now. The mane six in that episode felt dumbed down and just boring, but we'll ignore that. Fluttershy didn't feel like Fluttershy, the way she acted and the fact that she didn't even talk out the problems and went straight to ignoring them was even worse, she completely rejects any contribution or suggestions from the "Experts" and then just... builds it anyways while McColt and her friends come and resolves the issue. Wonder why she didn't do this from the start. Overall, her rejection of help, being impossible for me to sympathize with and the fact that she fixed the issue so easily without an expert's genuine experience and does it Perfectly made me genuinely dislike this episode. God i absolutely hate 28 pranks later, the horrible writing, the fact that RD's past character development was suddenly rejected, the fact that the ENTIRE TOWN joined in with the prank, a prank that could scar RD forever, stereotypical zombie tropes, etc. Non-Compete clause was a pretty meh episode i'd agree, felt like a season 2/1 episode and not an episode after the clear character development from "Buckball Season". I personally don't think stereotypical zombie tropes make up for a genuinely terrible episode, but as i said i respect your opinion and the opinions of others.

Agreed, season 8's band of writers make each episode seem out of universe and characters seem out of character. One of my pet peeves was Fluttershy Leans in where it feels like blatant fan service that they push fluttershy's assertiveness this far. God 28 pranks later has to be the worst episode of the season.

Best: S1: “The Best Night Ever" Fantastic ending to a fantastic season. S2: “Return of Harmony (Both Parts)” Discord is a great villain, and the whole climax was exemplary . S3: “Wonderbolt Academy” Teaches a valuable lesson, generally fun to watch. S4: “Testing Testing 1 2 3” Astoundingly well for an episode mid season. S5: “Amending Fences" Had one of the most emotional touches ever in mlp, great episode to watch and show how twilight has changed throughout the series. S6: “Every Little Thing She Does” Great way to use Mind Control to teach a lesson, shows how starlight isn't perfectly turned around from using magic to solve issues. S7: “Fame And Misfortune” M.A. Larson, love ya my man. S8: “Surf and/or Turf” Amazing nod to the movie, great character writing for scootaloo and sweetie bell. Worst: S1: "Bride Gossip" Bad in so many aspects, bad character writing. S2: “The mysterious Mare do Well” Horrible Writing for RD, bad way to teach a moral. S3: “One Bad Apple” Teaches: Defending yourself from bullies makes you a horrible person/. S4: “Some Pony to Watch Over Me” Dumbs down applejack completely. S5: "Princess Spike” Dumbs down and uses Spike as a punching bag. S6: “Newbie Dash” and "28 Pranks Later" (Newbie Dash) Cringe sequences, horrible moral, dumbs down RD. (28 Pranks Later) Dumbs down RD, erases character development, mentally scars RD because of pranks. S7: “A Flurry of Emotions” Zero punishment to Flurry for vandalizing, and potentially harming others, when twilight speaks up she is depicted as cruel, however that doesn't make the least bit of sense. S8: (So far) a three way tie between "Yakity-Sax" "Fake it til you Make it" and "Horse Play" All were just... Awful... Yakity-Sax had horrendous writing and morals, Fake it had the worst depiction of fluttershy so far save from Fluttershy Leans in, and Horse Play had clunky dialogue with a horrible moral. Best Season: Season two/Season five Worst Season: Season Eight

This episode genuinely annoyed me, for multiple reasons. For one, i realise that discord would completely destroy any reason for these two episodes to exist, but come on, he was literally called out by pinkie for being a defeated villain, none of the ponies thought of discord as an option, it would have been much better for the show to either address discord as being in another dimension, or address the villain as immune to chaos magic (Which to be honest doesn't really make sense.) Celestia and Luna didn't help a single bit either, they HAD to have a stronger magic than starlight right? Secondly, the Pony of Shadows was a complete disappointment, not only did it have weaker magic than starlight (Granted, in a weakened state.), monologue and as a result giving the pillars a full chance to contain him, get defeated almost immediately upon the second sighting, it also left itself completely open to attack after clearly noticing the abilities of starlight, twilight, star swirl and the pillars. Third of all, why did it even take the elements of harmony to completely disappear after sending the pony of shadows to limbo? The Elements didn't disappear when Discord was stoned, and discord was a FAR greater threat than the pony of shadows. Star swirl also banished the Sirens into the equestria girls universe with the Magic Mirror, couldn't he just do that again? I also have to say, Star Swirl was Really really dumb in this episode, he completely disregarded Twilight's feats, disregarded the possibilities of befriending the Pony of Shadows, and disregarded the fact that there were many other banishment spells as his disposal. That was something i'd expect Chancellor Neighsay to pull, not Beardo himself. Though i have to say something, the parallels drawn between Starlight's actions and Stygion's actions were great in my opinion, it shows that Star Swirl couldn't accomplish as great of acts as Twilight sparkles due to him not learning the true values of Friendship, and that if he was here instead of Twilight, Starlight would have been banished instead of reformed.
