    It’s one of the worst, ponies. One. Of. The. WORST. Episodes I’ve ever had to sit through. I know many like to pull the "It’s Pinkie Pie. Don’t question it." card when it comes to her quirkiness, but this episode doesn’t deserve that free pass! Pinkie is flanderized to the point of being inconsiderate of her friends’ personal lives and jobs just because she got a musical gift from the yaks she isn’t even good at playing. And for that matter, SHE’S A LITERAL ONE PONY BAND!!! She played a multitude of musical instruments to lure the parasprites out of Ponyville a la the Pied Piper in season one, so not even I could buy her going through a depressed state because she wasn’t allowed to play one particular instrument anymore. On the other side of the coin, her friends used the wrong method of telling her to stop playing her yovidaphone. What they should’ve done is tell her to appreciate the gift, but only play it in Yakyakistan, if not get lessons there. But instead, we’ve got another episode where Pinkie Pie is selfish and inconsiderate and the others are terrible at giving good advice just to keep the plot moving. Definitely one episode to avoid at all costs. At least I certainly will.

    Opaline Arcana. She tore pony society apart, forced Twilight to hide the magic of Equestria for centuries, and possibly wiped out several creatures.

    Cozy Glow, I will never justify your actions, but I’d like to know something. Were you evil because ponies saw you as a means to an end? A tool to be discarded when of no more use? Even by your parents?

    Hey, girls! Smart Heart again. Your ordeal after finding out Misty worked for Opaline got me thinking. I don’t necessarily blame you for turning your backs on her when she tried making amends at first, but when Misty burst the force field keeping you five imprisoned, what kept you five from thinking that it would just be another trick by Misty and Opaline?

    Cozy, I will not justify your actions in any way, but I would like to at least know this. Did your parents influence you to become evil? Like, did they take you for granted like the rest of the world did?

    Ok, so I exaggerated. But at least certain plot points have satisfying payoffs and Opaline is a well-written and her punishment was well-deserved. And it’s not like the color palette in FIM was Owl House level subtle and dark. Plus, with the start of Secrets of Starlight, there might be other dimensions to explore. In the end, I have high hopes for G5 and no one will convince me otherwise.

    Bad? Absolutely not! The characters are three dimensional (figuratively and literally), the lessons are good to teach, the world building is fantastic, the lore rich, and splitting the slice of life comedy of TYT from the interesting and mostly serious storytelling of MYM and, by extension SoS, was the smartest decision by the staff writers.

    In regards to before all five of you became friends, were there any ponies who didn’t believe that the other pony races existed? For example, if there was an earth pony saying, "Ponies that fly? Now, really!" Or a unicorn saying "Are you sure those hornless ponies aren’t just one of your special wishes?"

    Fantastic story! Loved Misty’s character development here and the lore behind Opaline’s motivations! Here’s hoping the next chapter proves to be the most epic! I’ll be keeping Stan Bush's "The Touch" on standby.
