  1. FYI, there is a fourth movie. It's all about the ancestors of most of the people from Tremors 1 and how they dealt with the worms "back in the day." I've thoroughly enjoyed every single one.
  2. So, in the course of writing my most recent fanfic, I accidentally threw in your OC. I needed a Rarity lookalike to be the damsel in distress. *spoiler* She's going to be a spy. :)

  3. No matter what problems you may face today, remember, it's not the end of the world. :D

  4. http://youtu.be/mxJcW-el3ds On my phone, so that probably won't show up right. But that's about it for me. Much as people always want to be around others at the end, I think I'd prefer a quiet walk by myself when it all comes crashing down.
  5. Yea, definitely a welcome to the Internet moment. Overall, what difference does it make if they're gay or straight? A good romance story hardly focuses on those kind of things, but it can use them as plot points. I've read plenty of gay and lesbian fics that have been heart warming and amazing. Most notably, "Green" on FIMFiction. As for adult and child stuff, there are a lot of people in this world and every one of us is different. Some people are just attracted to stuff like that. Some people just like the idea that the relationship is taboo and therefore exciting. There are many weird attractions and fetishes like that, that you can find anywhere. Grand scheme, none of those things define what bronies are. They define what people happen to be. Gay or straight, taboo or normal, brony or not. Bronies should be defined by the love and tolerance that we preach. But that's hard when things you've been taught in your normal life tell you that something is wrong and it shouldn't be happening. Think of it this way, as long as no one is being hurt, just be happy for them.
  6. @@Lightning Dust, Yea, I don't sleep much. So I get bored and vector. One of these days I'll have a real job and not be able to stay up and do these. Until then though... Wheeeeeee!!!
  7. Okay, the last Vinyl I did, I wasn't exactly satisfied with the results. So I tried something of her that I chose. Definitely happier with the results. Trying to practice more on objects.
  8. Looks pretty good! A few rough edges here and there but those are barely noticeable. Looks like my advice really paid off for you! Keep at it, sir!
  9. This made me laugh. Anyway, I gave Vinyl a shot and she didn't really turn out like I was expecting. Just something I can't ID what looks weird to me. I think it's because she's the first pony I've had to draw that had accessories, like the glasses and the headphones. Ponies are easy, objects like those can be pretty hard because they're not layered or built the same as ponies. (And the busted part of the shades made me completely stop to figure out how to put them together.) But here she is. I'll probably give Spitfire a shot as well. (Though that may be a while.)
  10. Now that's a load of crap. You spell it however you wish! Both are accepted. Just because your teacher can't accept that you learned differently than them doesn't make you wrong. Reading, I prefer British spellings. Writing, I prefer American. As an American, I understand it, and you're pretty close to NSFW territory. Because just because most Americans won't get it, there are others from Europe that will.
  11. Quick tip: There is a thing in the layer window that looks like a little eye. You can set your base on the very bottom and as you layer over the top you can click the eye (on any layer but for this the bottom) and it'll turn off the base and you can see where you are with the above layers. Sometimes I flip the bottom layer on and off for quick references for how things should look.
  12. Glad you like the vectors. Even more glad that my advice was helpful. I usually skip a step when trying to explain things to people and end up confusing them more. haha Keep plugging along though, I still run into parts of vectors that make me scratch my head and have to figure out how to do what I'm trying to do. In fact, I redid the hair on Moon's head three times until I got it to line up properly. I also sorta cheated with how I made her ear line up with the hair outline. haha
  13. Thanks for the compliments guys. I really do appreciate it. Here's the version of Shadow I'll be using for the background. I don't often get a chance to include his cutie mark in drawings so it was nice to have this one noticeable this time.
  14. Just my mouse. When I was in high school I took drafting for three years so I actually got pretty accurate using just a mouse. I've actually never even gotten my hands on a drawing pad. Even if I did though, I'd probly stick with my mouse. I find it to be a bit more precise. And for a free program, that I think isn't even fully released yet, Inkscape is pretty awesome. I picked it up and watched a few tutorials of some stuff on Youtube and then I was out the door and doing my own. I don't really do commissions, but I do take requests. Like, Hey, I'd like to see my character drawn in this kind of position! As long as you give me a template for your OC and something close to the position you want them in (Google images are your friend.) I'll put it on my to-do list. I mean, if you want to pay me, I won't say no. haha But I don't really have anything like that set up. Also, thank you both for the compliments. So, every once in a while, I go through people's profiles and look for OCs and stuff to draw. Well, this time I came across Shankveld's OC, Cherished, and here she is. Okay, first time doing a filly. .. That doesn't sound right. Anyway, this was my first shot at drawing a filly. I'm working on a wallpaper to coincide with a fanfic I'm writing. My OC, Shadow Chaser, has a family. With Rainbow Dash. This is the first of the two daughters. Sky Chaser. Cutie mark of a cloud because her special talent is shaping and modeling clouds. Side notes: I don't much like drawing fillies. I had a small template to work from but this was mostly freehand. This took me like two freakin' hours! Context: Dash lounging on her cloud only took me an hour. Also, not counting the shadow on her back legs, Sky has 5 unique blues on her. And here is Sky's little sister, Moon Chaser. She takes after Shadow while Sky takes after Rainbow. I had a lot of fun with her hair and finding the right colors.
  15. "Everyone is religious under fire." That's what my old chief told me once when we were discussing God and prayers. I don't think it's necessarily a whether or not they care moment. They care enough to write the words, so it's not a far and away chance that they do really care about the people affected. Granted, there are always going to be the people who write it just to write it cuz it's the popular thing to do at the moment. But when you hear about loss of life on a massive scale lots of people choose to take a step back and really evaluate their lives and what is and isn't important. I had a friend who, after 9/11, became deeply religious. He didn't want to believe that people could be that cruel for no reason and he turned to God and the church for support. And he is now one of those people who always writes about praying for people. You can think that some random person doesn't really care, and maybe they don't. But I choose to believe that the people that write things like that do mean it. Whether they're praying to their God or just thinking happy thoughts at the people affected. And sometimes, words and prayers are the only thing people have to offer. I never made a Facebook post or a tweet about praying for the victims in Newtown, but I thought it. I hope that they're at peace and, if there is an afterlife, I hope they're doing okay. But that's about all I can offer them, is a compassionate thought, because I'm currently out of work and barely making ends meet. I'd love to send them something of value, money, food or anything I can. But I cannot afford to. When it all boils down, it's not about whether that person really cares or not. Do you believe they care? That's the line between optimists and pessimists. And the better question, do you care? Because it's not about judging others on their thoughts or actions. It's about you and your connection to others as human beings. I think people that don't care, that don't feel anything at all for those lost, are missing a key part of life.
  16. Probably the first brohoof I actually earned. haha The best way to deal with curving the lines is to click wherever your start point is, generally a pointed end, and then click and hold another point along the curve, or sometimes the end point, and then you can adjust the line to match the curve of the drawing. It's gonna feel a little weird at first but that's how I do it and things work well. Just play around with it a bit. I know you said you're on a Mac so it might be a bit different but I can't imagine it's too far off from the Windows version.
  17. The following statement is an oxymoron. One thing I really hate about this fandom is all the people who complain about the fandom.

    1. Key Lime Pie

      Augh! My brain! D:

  18. That's pretty spectacular. Very good job. Nice to see someone else who seemed to pick up vectoring as easily as I did. The only thing that catches me as off is the right eyelash/eyebrow. Just seems to stop. But that's being super nit picky and isn't even really a negative. Overall, very smooth and well done!
  19. First of all, that looks pretty good. A couple rough edges here and there but with a little practice you'll be rocking. As for your question of how to fill, I'm going to post a few pictures that may help. First, this is Cherish. Everyone say hello. Now Cherish is sitting on the blank slate that you see every time you open Inkscape. The best way to handle being able to color things differently, and you're going to hate me for saying this, is to put each respective part on a different layer. (That pretty much means you're going to have to redo that outline.) The best way to do that is to first turn on two very important features. The "Layers" feature, and the "Fill and Stroke" feature. With those on, you can fine tune your drawing a lot easier. The Layers are a key part here because they are going to make your life a lot easier than just doing that outline and trying to color it correctly. To use them, look at your drawing. Figure out what need to be on top of what. With Derpy, the bag on her head would need to go over the hair layer but under the outline of her ear to make the ear appear smoother. And don't be afraid to put her ear on a new layer from the rest of her outline. They're going to be the same color so you'll be able to hide it when they overlap. And the best way to fill the picture after you outline it is to add another layer underneath the outline and then trace the outline of the drawing so when you go to fill it in with the Fill and Stroke tool, the edge of the filler is underneath the overall outline of the picture and it'll look fine. I know this is all a lot to take in at once so I'll be happy to stick around and answer more questions until you're confident.
  20. .. are upon us. First of all, every once in a while, I read random things here on the forum. Random threads and things of that nature. Invariably, I begin to slowly realize just how young the forum is as a collective because I begin to feel very old. Anyway, that's not important. I'm getting ready to make some pretty big life changes. I recently had a family member completely screw me over, and now I am left without a job or a car and I have to bounce back. Not the easiest venture. So, I'm preparing to move back to my home town and stay with a friend for a while. I've emptied my retirement account and having to buy a beater car with that money so I can get a job to pay for.. well, everything. Admittedly, staying positive lately has been hard. My move date is not set and at the same time rapidly approaching, if that makes sense. A part of me feels like I'm going to die. And I mean that in the truest sense. I've gathered up a donation of old clothes and CDs to give to Goodwill, and it's a hefty load. Like I'm just starting a brand new life all over again. I just feel like after I move that things will be incredibly difficult and my motivation is currently at an all time low. I'm not excited. About most of this. But at the same time, I am. It'll be nice to be back "home" for a while. Even if I have to struggle for a while I'm okay with it. I've been through worse problems with less ways to deal, so I know I'll be okay. And that makes me a bit happier about everything, but it only goes so far. I'm just trying to keep my head up and press on. Certain parts of the training will never go away, I guess.

  23. Like summer storms, the skies as grey as leaves. The rivers flood the banks and spill into the streets. But the people laughed and swore that they'd restore The city piece by piece. And then the clouds gave way as if to agree; When it rains it pours.
