  1. You forgot dressmaking magic!! I'd say 'Just Magic' because I imagine that's where levitation and such fit under. Actually, isn't that where most of Twi's useful magic is?
  2. I had a dream in which I was in a field. Like, a super wide open huge grassy field. There was this skunk in front of me, who apparently had a vengeance against me because whenever i'd try to step around it, it would do a hardcore lateral shuffle to stay in front of me. Then, it went ahead and sprayed me in the leg. Dream world me thought that this sensation was caused because a squirrel had gotten into my bed and was peeing on my leg, so I woke up literally squealing, "agha agha agha agha" four times while shaking as though I had just stuck my finger in an outlet. Turns out my leg had just touched the wall. My roommate who was sleeping in the bunk below me woke up and stood up, looking at me, while I pretended to stay asleep until he went back to bed.
  3. Thanks! Since I stole it from the internet thinking the same thing, I will shamelessly go ahead and agree with you Yet another statement I agree with wholeheartedly. By far the most fabulous, good looking, amazing, and all around best pony in all of Equestria!!
  4. I know all of you have at least a couple things that you would love to just flaunt about without everypony around you judging you for 'not being modest' or something silly like that. So, this shall be a no-judging shameless bragging thread. What happens in "Braggin' Rights" stays in "Braggin' Rights"... Or something like that
  5. This girl: Also, Anne Hathaway. She's like... Really up there for me The other one is ????? (Haruka Ayase) who plays Yae in Yae no Sakura
  6. So, just looked it up... Sunrise for me right now is close to 6... 5:58 which makes civil dawn 5:28. The earliest sunrise for me is at 5:07, putting dawn at 4:37. Don't forget though, that although we are in the same timezone, sunrise and sunset differ based on where we are both in terms of longitude and latitude (though different latitude naturally makes a bigger difference, because different longitude would mean only an offset of up to an hour.)
  7. The whole development team, a lot of funding, and all the rights to MLP! Though I'd say it's not 'just because I want it'... But rather because I want it to continue... FOREEEVVEERRRR http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLkc1huIBCo
  8. Hmm... Okay. I'm on the East Coast of the US as well, but dawn is about... ~5:00 right now for us. I know cause I'm still awake half the time
  9. Wait a sec... When is dawn where you live? I think I'm misunderstanding something but I find it a little odd that the sun doesn't come out the window till 11...
  10. I had the whole midnight programming problem going on ever since 5th grade or so when I wrote my first lines of code over a decade ago... I'd been doing really well with sleep for the past couple of years that I've been in college, but lately it's been slipping... I can't sleep now because when I go to bed, my body starts trembling and my heart rate goes zebonkers. odd... :/ feels like I'm really nervous or something... I really do wish I could sleep properly again. So, all in all, I agree with you That sleep stuff is really important
  11. I'm glad my mother didn't adopt the soldering iron routine my grandmother apparently used with her.... She still has scars from that. I mean, I have scars from soldering irons too, but that's only due to my own stupidity
  12. So, I know you're out there, a bunch of night owls hooting about at night yet still waking up at a reasonable hour in the mornings. This isn't a thread to criticize or celebrate insomniacs, but just a chillin' thread for insomniacs I suppose. It's a little late where I am now, and I guess I'd like a bit of company, as I'm sure many of you do too! So, to get things started, I have a couple of questions for you guys. Have you always been an insomniac? Why are you an insomniac? Or do you not really know? Are you the kind that can't fall asleep at night, or the kind that wakes up after stepping but a foot into dreamland? Maybe you're both, like I used to be. Just share your thoughts, stories, and experiences relating to the late hours of the night!
  13. Ohhh, also, if you're under Windows, Paint.NET is a pretty good option. http://www.getpaint.net/download.html <- that's the site, and though it looks kind of sketchy, I can tell you it's fine. It's a lot easier to master than some of the others, but still can do a lot.
  14. Yup. Lots. Krita and MyPaint are awesome free painting tools.... Really, don't just dis them cause they're "not Photoshop" or because "they're free". They are pretty different in feel and I like both of them. EDIT: Gimp's also a very good photo editor/image manipulator, though not that great for painting IMO. I know people are gonna say Paint Tool Sai and Photoshop, which are both great tools, but I'm not going to recommend them unless you want to dish out the money for them cause pirating them hurts them as well as the free alternatives I mentioned.
  15. The biggest spoiler for me was probably... Twilicorn! I know there was a lot of anticipation and everyone expected it to happen but it was still disappointing because I didn't get to watch the episode until much later.
  16. Though I'd have to deal with the whole gender swap issue like many others... OH MAN I would be the most fabulous, talented, gorgeous, and overall best pony in all of Equestria!! But.... Can I get a Cutie Mark change first...?
  17. I'd say Java and Python are probably the best places to start. C++ is slightly lower level (though still a high level language) than those two so it's a little harder to pick up... Like, you have to manage memory by yourself and stuff. Java and Python have automatic garbage collection so it simplifies a lot. Besides, Java and Python have much more expansive built-in APIs than C++'s STL... +1 for Boost and Qt for C++ though! EDIT: Also, feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions I do a lot of programming. I should probs point out a couple of other things about the languages as well, some rationale behind choosing one language over another... C++, Python, and Java are all object oriented languages, but all three include non-object primitives (though I don't believe that is still true with Py3). Object orientation is a notion of treating groupings of code as a sort of blueprint from which you can build many of that object with. Object orientation is currently one of the most popular programming paradigms, though as with anything else, there is a fair amount of controversy surrounding its value. All three of these languages force a fair amount of structure. Python is based off a programming language designed for teaching, and forces clean syntax. Java on the other hand requires a class to be defined to even write 'hello world'. C++ has a few oddities that might throw you off at first when you're trying to learn to program which is why I wouldn't recommend it over the other two. Features like pointers, multiple inheritance, and garbage collection can be a little bit of a hassle. On the other hand, C++ gives you a lot more power and flexibility while being more verbose than the other two options. I would also recommend Ruby, but I find since it is a pure object oriented language while being rather functional, and being incredibly flexible, tends to result in bad code from new programmers, and good code only from very careful, clean programmers.
  18. Japanese and English, cause my dear mother is Japanese and my father is American. It's been kind of weird actually, cause my culture is also this weird mix and there are a lot of Japanese words I don't know in English and a lot of English words I don't know in Japanese... Lolz...
  19. You're lucky you're a Dashie fan... My favorite Mane Six is Rarity, and any necklace I've seen of her is absolutely way too girly Like this one: http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2012/112/4/4/rarity_cutie_mark_necklace_by_iamagrape-d4x79qt.jpg But man, this one is wicked sweet!! http://bluerosegoddess.deviantart.com/art/Rarity-Necklace-367205557 EDIT: I say go for it
  20. While I'm not sure of the details, you might have a little bit of trouble with that because of UEFI... Since Luna is based on 12.04, I don't know if there even is a packaged version of grub2-uefi, and wasn't that before they got the whole Secure Boot thing properly settled?
  21. You can boot it off a CD or a USB drive if you want to just try it out The Linux philosophy is pretty different but I like it better than Windows You can also 'dual boot' which means having multiple operating systems on the same computer! And yup, they did work hard
  22. This is a project I've been following since its infancy, an Ubuntu based Linux operating system that aims to simplify everything. It's called Elementary OS, and their latest (second) release is called 'Luna'! http://elementaryos.org/
  23. @Russia, what prompted you to let Snowden reside in Russia for a year? What conditions are included in the arrangement?
  24. As far as I'm aware, isn't RBR the ONLY real rally sim out there? I've heard great things about it. Ooooooooooh, GTL!!! Um... GTL is basically a modified version of the original rFactor. Of course, made by the same people too. ISI sims are known for their modding, so all of their sims have a huge amount of community made content. Well, except that rFactor 2 doesn't have THAT much content yet... But it's definitely enough to enjoy You should try the rF2 demo. I think you'd love it
  25. Anyone else into sim racing? Right now I'm driving a lot of RFactor 2. Really loving the Corvette, Camero, Skip, 370Z, and Eve. I figure there must be at least a few around here who love simulation racing as much (or more than) me P.S. can't wait for the SuperGT GT500 GT-R to come out... Xanavi Nismo here I come!!!
