EDIT: This post basically became a WIP gallery showing the progression... The final image is at the bottom so please scroll to the bottom of this post to see the result! So, this is my first drawing in a couple months now... I had a lot of fun with it. Please tell me what you think!! Here's the DeviantArt page: http://randomsketchman.deviantart.com/art/The-Fight-for-Tradition-384712729 I used these stock photos: http://piechot-stock.deviantart.com/art/Texture-008-97178897 "desert view from above" on this page:http://www.mayang.com/textures/Architectural/html/Aerial%20Views/index.html http://www.stockvault.net/photo/117639/rock-landscape I sort of expecting to not touch it after the state it is in above... But then I got tempted to work on it a bit more... Who know if this is the final revision... Regardless, drawing is a lot of fun! ... This better be the final revision to the image... After spending basically the whole day on this, I think the picture is done!

visual art Does anyone have tutorials here ?
hellocat replied to Scootadress's topic in Photo Finish's Magics (Visual Art)
Ooo, talking about software, try MyPaint or Krita. I use Krita almost exclusively now, but MyPaint is good too They are both free btw. They also have very different feels so it might make sense to try both of them. The biggest step I found to learning to draw was learning to erase. When I was starting out, I was always afraid to touch something which I had drawn because I was afraid to make it worse. With proportions, that tends to be a big thing. You can draw an initial sketch and have the proportions be wrong, but in that case, don't be afraid to just erase and redraw. If I have a lot of progressive steps, I find I can slowly work my way towards the correct proportions. Also, practicing helps a lot One of the best ways to practice I think is to draw quick sketches (5 min ~ 30 min) and then just toss them out. If you do a few of these, I think it'll help you get better proportions because of that. -
Thanks! I spent the vast majority of the time on the sky and sort of trying to set the general mood, so I'm glad that's the part your comment focused on! Thanks Sapphire! I'm hoping I'll be able to do a lot more drawing

So, I did a request for Night Shine who wrote a fic called Wisp http://www.fimfiction.net/story/99376/wisp I haven't read it yet, but it sounds really interesting! Anyway, here's the piece I did for him... This is my first real request and my second actual pony drawing (I've done a number of sketches but not that many) so tell me what you think! EDIT: also, here's the DeviantArt page: http://randomsketchman.deviantart.com/art/Wisp-Request-374122309

Do You Support Twilicorn?

I just found it to be sad because it felt like a final episode... Though I know season 4 is supposed to still come out. By the way, slightly off topic, but am I the only one that found it super creepy that Celestia seems to have been effectively spying on Twilight and her friends this whole time with those screens...?- 1,021 replies

Haha, I too should be doing uni work (studying for finals.... :/) but got much too distracted. Here's my list: Infection type: Bitten Vampire type: Vampire Sustinance: Human blood Other vampires: Small clans Public knowledge: Localized knowledge Hunted by: Hunters I would imagine I would be a rather stereotypical vampire in a world of many vampires...

Also, Frozen Mint, I completely agree.... I'm rather overwhelmed XD While Motion is a really wonderful friend of mine, I wasn't expecting anything like this (or actually anything at all)
-
Yup, I believe so... Almost a year eh? Part of friendship's magic is it's odd ability to make time seem a lot shorter than it actually is.
-
Thanks so much Motion!! This is absolutely amazing I don't really even know what to say... I really love it It's been a great 10 months of friendship! Happy birthday Chaotic Parsley!!

I hope so! Oh, I'm sure they'll be confused... They don't get many drawings since it's an engineering school. They actually post a lot of the feedback with responses on a board. So, even if they don't get it, I'm sure a lot of students will The "feedback" took me about 5 minutes.
-
The dining halls at my school has little slips you can write feedback on. So, I decided to take a shot at providing some feedback. I hope it's sufficient feedback I uploaded it on DeviantArt as well... http://randomsketchman.deviantart.com/art/Dining-Hall-Feedback-367057513

Human Wonderbolts Academy Art Thread - STABLE THREAD!
hellocat replied to Motion Spark's topic in Visual Fan Art
This looks phenomenal!! I really like the color palette you chose for the image, really works well! Interesting texturing on the background as well Rainbow looks quite Dashing if you will! @Silverwisp, I have to say I disagree with you on the spine. Though I am male (so arguably less flexible than a female), I can still contort my spine to angles more radical than this one... And I don't have any spinal issues or anything About the mouth, I can see more where you're coming from on this one, but the nature of cartooning is exaggeration and disproportionality. Therefore, again, I don't think that point is valid. Though I think I too would prefer it a little bit further left (though only a very very small touch...) -

You should know that I'm part Japanese (fluent in the language in fact.. Most of the games I've played have been in Japanese XD) and I'm visiting this summer... Perhaps I'll pick up Monster Hunter 4 while I'm there. -

2 of my friends and I have been playing under one account. We all like different weapon classes: one's a sword and shield user, the other is a long sword user, and I'm great sword. So far, we have 50 hours racked up We've been basically grinding for materials for a lot of it, with 14 Lagiacruses killed, 12 Rathians, 7 Duramboros, etc, so we're not too far into the game. We just got into HR3, and we have 2 5* local quests left, so we still haven't gotten to the Ceadeus. We have a full Arzuros, Lagiacrus, and Lagambi armor, Eternal Strife, Dijn, a few other sword and shields, Rimeblossom (I think..?), some other long swords, and Red Wing and Ravager Blade. I'll admit I haven't been able to play too much (one kid played probably 35~40 hours or so, but he's a comp sci major so he has time) but it's so much fun!! -

That's an absolutely amazing analogy. It takes a long time to find your weapon too, just like a cutie mark. I switched between almost all the classes before I ended up with great sword on one of the PSP releases back in the day. I am so much more effective with it. Also, is it just me or are Rathalos/Rathians easier in this game than previous ones? -

Personally, I feel like the whole Tri series is a lot easier than the previous ones... Still love the series though! Greatsword FTW Duramboros is most definitely my favorite thus far. Really funny monster XD -
visual art An uncomfortable creature doodle
hellocat replied to hellocat's topic in Non-Pony Art & Creations
Personally, I think it looks a touch like a camel or something... A super creepy 2 legged demented camel Also, thanks for commenting!! Haha, I've never tried Spore... But a quick Google search does render some interesting creatures And cute? You're the first who's said that! Thanks! I always like it when people find my creatures cute, because even when I actively try to make them cute, "creepy" seems to be the more common reaction XD Deranged? Berserk? Disturbing? Thanks! Yeah, perhaps it's an odd combination of things -
Only the mouse? Oh my!! That's absolutely absurd XD I can only dream of doing such a thing. Looks really good, and congrats on graduating!!

request shop I am so bored of drawing the same things again and again
hellocat replied to Preeminent Pisces's topic in Requestria
Feel free to draw my OC if you want I've only drawn her once... I should draw more of her. Perhaps she's not the kind of pony you're looking for though. http://mlpforums.com/topic/33095-my-first-oc-d-scarlet-scribes/ Or, you could draw Scootaloo piloting a fighter jet. -
Mmm... Hard choice, but I suppose my least favorite Mane 6 is RD... I am fairly athletic, and people tell me I am quick on my feet. I have a severe obsession with speed (hence, an obsession with cars, skiing, and basically anything else that involves a lot of speed). Everything is about going faster, turning sharper, etc. Heck, even my field, electrical engineering, is about things that move very fast (electricity... well.. sort of... the net velocity of an electron traveling down a wire, also called the drift velocity, is actually pretty slow...)

They used to be pretty much exclusive to the Sony platform. Monster Hunter 3 Portable is for the PSP (came out after Tri) and there is a Monster Hunter 3 Portable HD Edition for the PS3. However, not sure if those ever made it to the states.
