  1. It is heavily implied that bullying is wrong and that Babs learned her lesson. It doesn't have to be spoken. Fighting back is a bad idea, especially since they could have killed her. It sounds like you're saying that the episode should have encouraged revenge, which would be terrible.
  2. -I like season 3 more than season 1 -I don't like My Little Dashie -I The Mysterious Mare Do Well > Boast Busters -I don't like the Octavia X Vinyl Scratch shipping. (I just don't like the idea that two people belong together just because they're both musicians.) -I hate the song "Antropology" (I haven't read the fanfic) -I hate the Rowdy Ruff Boys (from Powerpuff Girls)
  3. I loved the first one, but this one looks terrible. First of all, the Red Mist shouldn't have changed his name to "Mother ****er." And from what I've seen in the trailer, even Hit Girl has been ruined.
  4. I know what you're all thinking. "WHAT WHY?! Why would you ask such a question?" Well here's why. I was just lurking on /mlp/ and I found someone who didn't like Double Rainboom threaten to leave the fandom because of it. I know it sounds ridiculous, and that's why I only rarely go to /mlp/. If I'm bored and in the mood to laugh at them, than I'll lurk the place. Here are my quick thoughts on Double Rainboom: I liked it. It wasn't spectacular, and it was full of fan-service, and the story derailed once it got to the PPG crossover, but I wasn't expecting it to be anything great. It did have it's flaws, but it's not worth leaving the fandom over. My question is why would someone leave the fandom just because a over-hyped fan project ended up disappointing them? Do they not understand what happens in fandoms. You're always going to get crappy fanfics, crappy videos, and even crappy fans. Just because ONE fan didn't impress them, they're just going to leave the fandom? That's ridiculous! Than again, I've never understood why people leave fandoms anyways. Sure, even if you lose interest in the show, you still have the fan made stuff. And if you lose interest in that too.... well, I guess that is a good reason to leave. As long as you don't harass the people who haven't left, I have no problem with you leaving. tl;dr- Some guy on /mlp/ threatened to leave the fandom because they didn't like Double Rainboom. And this place is SO much better than /mlp/.
  5. I'm lucky enough to not have too many experiences with bullying, so maybe I'm missing something. What's so bad about the moral of one bad apple? I really want to hear from people who don't like it. I want to know why you don't like it. To me, the cmc learned that 2 wrongs don't make a right. That sounds like a good moral to me. In my eyes, the episode was perfect, and it was one of my favorites of season 3. Remember, this is coming from someone with very little experience with bullying, so I could definitely be missing something. Is it because Babs wasn't punished? To me, she learned her lesson, so she no longer needed to be punished. Does it have something to do with your own bullying experiences? I hope I don't sound insensitive here, and I apologize if I do, but do you not like the episode because it doesn't match your experiences? The people who like this episode like it because they can relate to it. Do you not like it because you can't relate to it? I think it would have been much worse if the cmc had gotten away with their revenge scheme without learning anything at the end. I think everyone can agree with that. I hope none of this sounds insensitive. I just want to understand what people found so wrong about the moral.
  6. That's like asking people to stop writing Vinyl Scratch X Octavia shipping fics. You can beg all you want but no matter what you do, they're never gonna go away. I personally don't care for Vinyl X Octavia shipping fics, so do you know what I do? I don't read them. You should try it.
  7. I loved it! -I'm not sure if anyone else noticed, but during that fluttershy scene some of the animals include bugs bunny, daffy duck, and perry the platypus. -I'm not sure why people in the comment section are complaining about the PPG crossover. A lot of their reasoning is that "it was supposed to resemble the actual show" and a PPG crossover would never happen in the real show. My question is since when did fanfiction ever have to resemble the actual show? Isn't the point of fanfiction to do something that the show would never do? -Oh, and I just have to say this. Every time bronies talk about PPG inevitably one brony will call Lauren Faust the creator of PPG. She's not the creator. She did work on the show though, but I don't think she had anything to do with the show until season 3. Her husband Craig McCracken is the creator.
  8. I'm not going to write this, but it's an idea that popped into my head today. It would be about a crystal pony who has a conspiracy theory: Princess Cadence is actually working for King Sombra behind closed doors. The fic would follow this conspiracy theorist as he/she searches for the "truth." What do you think of it? Has it been done before?
  9. I don't think supporting twilicorn makes anyone stupid... When I was a kid I noticed that fairly oddparents followed a formula every episode. Does that make ME smart? Definitely not. The reason that people are excited about Twilight becoming an Alicorn is because her original story arc is over and we get to see a new story arc which is incredibly exciting.
  10. I don't know anything about Mass Effect 3 so I'm not going to talk about that in my response. My first question is what was so "confusing" about Magical Mystery Cure's ending? Sure, it did give us a lot of questions, but what we did get was pretty simple. Twilight became a princess. Most likely the princess of friendship because that's what she has been learning about throughout the entire series. I don't think that they should "fix" anything just to satisfy the whining fans. The whining fans should learn that they can't have everything they want. Twilight will still be with her friends. Whether she will outlive them or not is debatable headcanon and will never be brought up in the show. So you're waiting for something that will never happen. My headcanon is that only Celestia and Luna are immortal, and Twilight and Cadence are lower level alicorns. And she's not turning back into a unicorn. That would just be weak. And how do you know that her life has become a living hell? Have you traveled to the future and seen Season 4? Stop it with this "Twilight is vastly superior to her friends" because she's not. Just because she has a higher social status than them, doesn't make her better. She has flaws just like her friends do. And stop tossing the term "mary-sue" at everything that you don't like. Mary-Sue has so many meanings that you could label any character from anything as a mary-sue.
  11. That's true, but what I really want is Rarity to have more screen time. It doesn't necessarily have to be a "Rarity episode" but I want her to have a big role in it. I understand what you're talking about though. I really hate that everyone calls Games Ponies Play a Rainbow Dash episode rather than a mane 6 episode.
  12. I've never heard that. I have seen the art, but I always thought it was just a thing now. Kind of like how drawing baby chrysalis was a thing for a few days.
  13. I highly doubt that the season 4 premiere will be a Rarity episode, but I hope that the very next episode is one. than could be a cmc episode, followed by an episode for another mane six character, etc. Do you think that Rarity's episode will come early in season 4? Because it's 26 episodes, there's bound to be at least one. And although it sucks that she didn't get a season 3 episode (i was really hoping Games Ponies Play would be one) there is a reason. No, Hasbro doesn't hate Rarity, and neither do the writers. Spike At Your Service was originally going to be a Rarity/Spike episode, but the writers noticed that they ended up writing Rarity very poorly. I've said before that Spike At Your Service isn't my favorite episode of the season, but what we got is better than seeing Rarity treat Spike like a slave.
  14. No one. I actually said in my original post that "Cherilee is not a Mary Sue because...well... I don't know. But no one ever accuses her of being one for some reason. My point is that I'm surprised she's never called a Mary Sue. She seems to give off the most Mary Sue-ish vibes. At least to me. I'm not exactly calling her a Mary Sue though. But if someone were to ask me to choose one character to label as a Mary Sue, I would choose her.
  15. He may have the ability to do whatever he wants, but that doesn't make him a Gary-Stu. He has obvious character flaws shown in both Return Of Harmony and Keep Calm And Flutter On.
  16. Okay, so maybe it's not the term itself I hate, but I hate how people just irresponsibly throw it around. I'm not just talking about Twilicorn. Cadence is labeled as one all the time. So, let me explain why I think it's used incorrectly. If I'm correct, a Mary-Sue is perfect and according to the logic of those who use it, they also have god-like powers. They are adored by EVERYONE. This isn't the only interpretation of Mary-Sue. If you look at the Mary Sue TV Tropes page, there are many. Even if TV Tropes isn't perfect reference guide, these seem like real life interpretations to me. These interpretations include: -Protagonist You Don't Like: Even before Twilight became an Alicorn, there have been people who labeled her as a Mary Sue. One of the reasons could have been that they just don't like her. -Poorly Written Character: This show has multiple writers so it could be a case of "depends of the writer." This could also be the reason why Cadence is always labeled as one. I personally am not accusing the writers of writing Cadence poorly, but she hasn't been developed yet. I think it's still too early to call her a Mary Sue. -Cliched Character: Twilight's a nerd, I guess...? Seriously though, Twilight is not your stereotypical nerd. I think everyone will agree with that. Cadence hasn't had enough characterization to be called cliche. -Author Avatar: Is Twilight an author avatar? I honestly don't know the answer to that one. -Idealized Character: This one could be argued, at least for Twilight, but she's not nearly as ideal as she could be. -Power Fantasy: This pretty much means that the character is a result of the author's fantasies. This might qualify, but than you would have to call every other character a Mary Sue as well. These characters are based on Faust's fantasies as a kid. She had the toys and she would create personalities for each of them. -Infallible Character: This means that the character never fails. This one is obviously false. -Center Of Attention: Twilight has been the "main" character ever since the beginning. However, the show has been having more episodes without a Twilight appearance as it has progressed. Sure, she's what everyone is thinking about after Magical Mystery Cure, but do we really know how much attention she's going to get in season 4? -Alien Element: This means that the character changes the dynamic of the work and shifts the focus away from the established characters and styles. While Twilight becoming an alicorn may have changed the dynamic of the show, we don't know to what degree it has changed, and there is no evidence that the show's focus has drifted away from the other characters. Twilight isn't a Mary Sue because she has flaws, and may not be as powerful as we think. Cadence isn't a Mary Sue because she is definitely not OP and does not have an overwhelmingly large in-universe fanbase. Shining Armor is not A Gary Stu because he has obvious flaws from his very first appearance. He was not able to tell Twilight about his wedding because he had to guard Canterlot. If he was OP he totally could have done both at once.Rather than admitting to crying, he uses the term "liquid pride." He was also handicapped by Sombra in The Crystal Empire. Cherilee is not a Mary Sue because.... well... I don't know.... But no one ever accuses her of being one for some reason. Not that I think she is one or anything. But if someone were to tell me to label one character from this show a Mary Sue, my first thought would be Cherilee. This does not mean that I actually think she's a Mary Sue. She just gives me more Mary Sue vibes than the other characters. Spitfire is not a Mary Sue. I don't have to explain. Just go watch Wonderbolts Academy. It's not because of her drill sergeant behavior, but because she didn't pay enough attention to her students. Also, everytime the Wonderbolts have attempted to save someone's life in the show, they have failed. That includes Spitfire. I know what some of you are thinking. That was random, why did you bring up Spitfire? Because Spitfire is captain of the Wonderbolts. She has a higher social status than Rainbow Dash and the other Wonderbolts. Twilight is called a Mary Sue for having a higher social status than her friends. Therefore, I can talk about Spitfire. I think everyone can agree that Spike is not a Gary Stu. But whenever he's showing his flaws, everyone labels him as "out of character." It makes sense in the case of Spike At Your Service, but I seriously don't understand what was so "out of character" about him in Just For Sidekicks.... Are there any other characters who are labeled as "Mary Sue" or "Gary Stu?" And what do you think about what I said? Do you think that any of the characters I mention are Mary Sues/Gary Stus?
  17. I've always wondered if the changelings even have a mind of their own. Until I see changelings who don't look like clones, my headcanon will be that they all came from the mirror pool. Maybe that's why their all evil. They don't have free will. I guess that wouldn't make the trope any better though....
  18. If you didn't already know, season 2 is coming to dvd in may. Hopefully, shout factory will release every season. If they do, would you buy the whole series? I have season 1 and I plan to buy season 2 once it comes out. If season 3 is ever released, I'll buy that. Seasons 4, 5 etc. But what if you don't like a season? Would you buy that too? I would. I think I'd feel incomplete without it. I personally have loved all 3 seasons so far, and I'm pretty sure season 4 won't let me down. So would you buy the entire series? Even if there was a season you didn't like? Would you buy it on DVD, or wait for it to come out on Blu-Ray? Would you buy the seasons separately, or wait for the complete series boxset? I'm not sure if a complete series boxset would ever happen. I'm not even sure if every season will get a dvd release.
  19. Suited For Success is really an episode about executive meddling. Rarity represents the show staff, and the other mane characters represent the executives. None of the crystal ponies have horns or wings. There are probably 6 cutie mark crusaders in Equestria. Not just 4. Spitfire should not be a wonderbolt. I think Rainbow Dash is going to replace her one day.
  20. It's about time I actually make a thread about the show rather than another thread defending season 3. So we all know that Fluttershy is terrified of dragons. She has no problem with baby dragons, but she's afraid of huge, gigantic, terrifying, enormous, teeth-gnashing, sharp-scale-having, horn-wearing, smoke-snoring, could-eat-a-pony-in-one-bite, totally all-grown-up dragons. Is there a reason that she's afraid of dragons? Could it have something to do with her past? Will we ever find out? If you ask me, that would make a pretty cool episode. I'm not creative enough to come up with a good title so I'll just call it "Dragonshy 2" for now. I don't know what the plot would be, but in the episode, we would learn about her past with dragons. Maybe she would visit the dragon kingdom or whatever it's called. Maybe Spike could be involved in the episode to. It could be a Fluttershy/Spike episode. So what do you think? Does Fluttershy have horrible past events that caused her to fear dragons? Or is she just afraid of them for a simpler reason?
  21. Well a lot of these fans who were worried are bigger fans of the slice of life episodes. They didn't want it to become a magical girl show.
  22. I'm not sure if the fandom is ready for a recurring villain. I heard that when Return Of Harmony first came out, many bronies were scared that Discord would become a recurring villain. I personally don't understand why they were so worried. It's not like the first season opened with a 2-parter with a villain or anything....
  23. I've seen it, and although I like it a lot, in my opinion it's nowhere near as good as code geass which it's often compared to. I don't even like code geass as much as the other anime I listed.
  24. It's hated just about as much as every popular anime there is. If it's popular than it's guaranteed to have a hatedom. Just enjoy it, and don't worry about the "haters."
  25. Let me explain. I actually really like anime, but I'm pretty picky about it. The strange thing is that I don't have very high standards.... Anime just has some cliches that other entertainment mediums don't. Like fanservice and panty shots for example. There are also just too many slice of life anime that don't try anything new. They just stick to a formula that they know works. And there are anime that have potential to be great, but are ruined by little pointless things. Guilty Crown had SO much potential, but I couldn't get over the fact that Inori was an incredibly boring character. The only reason why I wasn't completely bored by her was that her hair fascinates me for some reason. To me, it seems like she is there to look pretty. Although, I'm not gonna straight up call it a Code Geass rip-off like everyone else does. (everyone also calls Code Geass a Death Note rip-off.) I admire what Bakemonatagarti (excuse my spelling) was trying to be, but the fanservice just killed it. It was trying to be artistic, and if it weren't for all the fanservice, I would have actually watched more than the first few episodes. Dance In The Vampire Bund was also ruined by fanservice. The worst part is that Mina looks 12. And then there is some anime that is just plain terrible. Like Aria The Scarlet Ammo for example. I guess what I'm trying is that it's really hard for me to give a new anime a chance, because I'm always afraid of the cliches. I know that western animation also has cliches, but I prefer those cliches to anime cliches. Here's a list of anime I actually like, and a brief summary of why they don't suck. School Rumble- I've never been a fan of anime style humor, so it's refreshing to have something that's legitimately funny. Plus, it's not just an average slice-of-life school show. It's way different from most. It has the best english dub I've ever seen. (imo) And it has great characters. Clannad- A slice of life done right. No fanservice. Just story. Puella Magi Madoka Magicka- I have nothing against the magical girl genre, but this is the only one I've been into (other than Sailor Moon when I was seven). Despite not knowing much about the genre, I can still say that this is a fantastic deconstruction of it. The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya- The story is just fantastic! I don't know how else to explain it. I even like the endless eight arc. Angel Beats- I don't know what to say other than it has beautiful animation, great characters and is not a typical anime. Soul Eater- The best shounen I've ever seen. Hands down. Future Diary- I admit, this does have some elements of anime that I don't like, but somehow it works. So if you want, give me some recomendations. It's really hard for me to give new anime a chance for many reasons though.
