Eating alone vs. eating with people

Eating is a private thing for me. I don't know if it's because I'm so frustrated of eating around others after decades of people nitpicking me over what I do and/or don't eat, or if I'm just naturally private about it, but I don't like eating around others and I don't like being watched eating.

I got so used to eating alone that now I feel a little bit uncomfortable eating with other people, but I can do it.

I do weird things while eating alone, like spending too much time strategically organizing all the food on my plate so I can enjoy it more (even if it looks bad). I've realised that I make weird sounds when I really like the food... I've spent more than 20 minutes straight savoring the honey from a spoon...

When I'm eating with other people I can't do that stuff because it WILL make them uncomfortable (Which I find completely understandable).

I prefer to eat alone and in silence. To not rush,  just wat, and just enjoy the food. Moment by moment. If you eat with people, sometimes they want to turn it into a 2 minutes hate, and that kills my appetite.

Out in public, I definitely prefer eating with a friend or family. Everyone seems to be in a pair when I go out to eat and I end up just staying on my phone while chowing down on a burger or tacos. 

At home, I tend to eat by myself while reading a book or watching a YouTube playthrough. Helps me forget about work and school.

I find eating by myself in a restaurant to be a fair bit uncomfortable, I'd very much prefer to be with someone. On the other hand sitting down to eat in a food court or park is hardly an issue.

I've never eaten with someone other than my mother (and my sister when she lived with us.) I can't say I'm really eating with anyone when I'm at school since they're not talking to me. I find that I can take hours to finish one meal when I'm at home, but in public, I try to hurry since I don't have time and since I'm very anxious. Eating with a friend sounds nice, though!

Alone. I'm a very fast eater and whenever I eat with other people, I always finish up way before anyone else, which means awkwardly waiting until they finish eating their meal. I mean, yeah, I could leave and  go do something else, but part of me would feel like I'm being rude.

I can't stand family dinners, so much pedestrian talk of nothing except either work or children.  Do you people not have souls? Not have lives? If this is all you can talk about?
