I actually just recently got that album and I've been listening to it pretty often lately. It's not the kind of thing I normally listen to, but I like it quite a bit, it's pretty interesting.

Parallax 2! Listen to Parallax 2!

Anyway, I'm beginning to listen to some sludgier stuff, like ISIS, Cult of Luna, and Consciousness Removal Project's free album because I saw it on Bandcamp for freeeeee.

Also, more Contortionist because I'm taking a liking to this album.

One man bands, man. Can't get enough. This project is like Chimp Spanner but a lot darker and Townsend-like. All the Meshuggan tones and such are there, though.

Yeah man I know

At first it started out with ISIS

And now I've just started to get into Cult of Luna

The only problem is that I don't know really any other

of those type of atmospheric sludge bands

Anyone got any suggestions?

Neurosis!  Definitely Neurosis.

They're like the originators of that atmospheric sludge stuff.

You can't go wrong with Pelican either.  Or the Ocean.

Pelican. Specifically Australasia. Also Jesu's debut.

Jesu in particular makes some of the heaviest and most melodic music ever. AT THE SAME TIME.

Also, nice Amnesiac signature. The B-sides of that album are amazing.

I've only heard Heliocentric. DEFINITELY not doing it right.

I have only heard of Pelican

But now that I've actually listened to them

I really don't regret giving them a try

Neurosis were quite good

Maybe they'll grow onto me sometime

But thank you guys a lot

And Amnesiac was Radiohead's greatest album

That album is them at their worst.  Anthropocentric is them doing it right.  I prefer that album over a lot of other sludge efforts.

Aww... I liked that album. I don't see the hate for it as reasonable. Maybe it's different from their other stuff, but that doesn't make it bad. "Firmament" kicks all kinds of ass.

Oh no, it doesn't suck by any means.  It's just not my personal favorite.  Trust me, I don't hate it by any means.  I quite like it, it's just that they've done better IMO.

@, how do you feel about this? :P WHERE IS YOUR IN RAINBOWS GOD NOW?

Also, Eyehategod is amazing sludge. Listen to that.

Anypony who doesn't like Carcass deserves to be smacked with a golf club. I'm a Carcass fanboy, don't mess with me. Or i'll kill you with hugs and flowers.

Eh, they're not THAT good. Edgy though.

I think you mean my Kid A god. That's the record in my top 10 of all time. Oh and by the way there's a universe in us all. Devy said so. This is a GOOD song.

Well, almost bedtime for me. Nothing like some Deftones to calm the soul, maaaan.

Especially Koi No Yokan. It can be such a relaxing record sometimes

There is no such thing as a wrong time to listen to

Some nice good Deftones music

You can never go wrong with Koi No Yokan

It's an awesome album

Oh, a STREAM! I didn't think of that. That'd be cool actually.

For me it goes Atmo = gaze > folk > blackened > 1st wave. Fuck all y'all purists, ain't no one taking my Deafheaven, and Alcest from me.

7nTnr.png

And if the song isn't at least 9 minutes long, well then... it's just not kvlt.

Though I'll admit, these guys are great. They were also good when I saw the perform with Alcest last year.

And now for some Fen.

Revisited Ne Obliviscaris' debut this morning. Australia has a lot going for them in their metal scene.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wa4zqBwPVE

If they released an instrumental version, that would be cool. This is one of the few albums in metal I could do a cover for (the cleans anyway).

Speaking of Aussie metal, have some Meridian.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIPHLoNXxmU

They offer the digital copy of this ep with a "name your price" model, so technically you could download it for free, and they've actually marketed it as such.  I bought the physical copy though; its that good!

Here's the link to their bandcamp, in case anyone is interested.

I feel like I have to put some pone in here, so I will.

Now, seriously.  I'm addicted to these guys.  It's nothing we haven't heard before, but it's well made and chuggy. I dig it.

As for local metal, I'm not realy part of the local metal scene.

GET ON THAT.  You'll learn a lot about music that way, and make some killer friends.

Sounds like In Flames V 2.0 to me.

Woods Of Ypres

Oh, fuck. This band has a lot of history. I haven't even heard all of Woods V, and I don't see the unreal praise, but David Gold's passing makes it eerie to listen to nonetheless.

No breakdowns? Not music.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J34TSmC6r_o

I've been listening to these guys since Jason left Born of Osiris and joined them. They can be pretty br00tal.

I like Megadeth, their still considered metal, right? :P

That's what we like to call thrash metal! Ask NeverNeverLand when he comes back, he'll give you a TON of recommendations and stuff.

I can give you a few,  like Slayer, Lich King, Pantera, Anthrax, Sodom, and Kreator.

Now, seriously.  I'm addicted to these guys.  It's nothing we haven't heard before, but it's well made and chuggy. I dig it.

I take a liking to Gideon, but they're one of those bands that I just can't decide if they're more hardcore or metalcore.

Also, pony thread simulators? I'm in one. Though I won't tell you which post, to keep some dignity.
