Nails? I saw their record in a store along with Book Burner. I'm actually thinking about going to get them because hey, grindcore + vinyl can't be bad, right?

I actually relistened to Prowler in the Yard today. I have now scrobbled Pig Destroyer 139 times. :^)

Wow a Nails album and Book Burner all in one store

And in vinyl too?!? I didn't know that they sold those in Vinyl

All that I have near me is a CD store, that's getting closed down

Oh well I'll have to find another music store to shop at

my favorite metal vinyl :3 (shitty webcam/10)

They sell pretty much anything they can on vinyl. Like the store also had Aphex Twin, which is something strange to find on vinyl :P It was one of the SAWs I think.

Actually it's not strange to find Aphex Twin in vinyl records

I used to see them all the time on ebay

Though most of the time it was the Windowlicker-EP

Not one of the Selected Ambient Works albums

So yeah....I guess that is a strange find

And on your webcam I find it hard to see what the hell that record your holding is

I thought they were pretty recognizable, even from such a shitty picture ;_; They're pretty well discussed around here.

I would be more open in liking these guys if they didn't have such cheesy album art.

Oh yeah now I recognize that second album

I know the Between The Buried And Me one

Though I don't recognize the other two ones

Anything I said about the Point of No Return EP, disregard it. I like it now.

for a minute could you imagine what it would be like if the mane 6 came into our world and had to see all this? all the war, death, hatred, corruption, and general evil. i could picture Twilight being absolutely mortified, not sure bout the rest though.

I'm really liking this In Flames song. I checked out this album, it seems pretty decent. Might buy it at some point in the future.

Yeah, that song's probably my favorite from the album. Love the second verse in it.

And there's been a creepy lack of power metal, since however long I've been here. Like, no one ever talks about it in this thread.

And Lance King does Pyramaze stuff, better than Matt Barlow (who did their latest album in 2008), IMHO.

Personally, I don't know much power metal save for some really entry-level bands like Blind Guardian and Dragonforce.

It's not that appealing to me personally, if I don't want something heavy I'd rather listen to something else.

Considering how much of a sucker I am for atmospheric black metal and blackgaze as opposed to the earlier stuff from Mayhem and Burzum and Darkthrone and the like, I decided to catch up on what I've been missing. I found two albums that I liked a lot.

First there's Burzum's "Filosofem," the only Burzum album I could listen to comfortably (since I'm not a fan of Varg's wretched vocal stylings on albums like "Hvis lyset tar oss")...

...as well as Darkthrone's "Panzerfaust." It may not be "A Blaze in the Northern Sky" or "Transilvanian Hunger," but I enjoy "Panzerfaust" more than those due to its improved production and less death metal influenced sound.

Update: I went ahead and bought the album. I hope it was worth it.

I also want to buy the album Mezmerize by System of a Down. Some of the songs are kinda weird, but they are really catchy.

I must admit, that is pretty fucking kvlt, dude...  :P

I'm gonna post some Post-Metal now because I'm in a French kinda mood for some reason.

Why hasn't hardly anyone posted in here today?

Anyway, I've got a question for everyone. If I were to get another Dream Theater album, which one should I get out of these choices: Images and Words, Metropolis pt.2, or Black Clouds & Silver Linings? I seem to typically like the heavier Dream Theater stuff, if that helps.

Metropolis, pt. 2.   It's my favorite Dream Theater album, and it's pretty heavy by their standards.   Home is the heaviest song on the album, so I'd suggest checking it out.

So I dug into The Ocean's earlier work and found "Precambrian." I like it a lot. It reminds me of early Mastodon with a bit more of a prog slant on things.

Okay, so I actually found Oceano to be a good band to listen to when particularly pissed off but their new song is pretty terrible in my opinion. It sound EXACTLY like every other song they've ever done, and they claim that they've only gotten heavier. No, you've gotten softer if anything. Get over yourself.

And Gideon because Crispy introduced me to them and they're one of my anger-bands :D

Periphery I. Seriously, I second Choatic Twilie. Metropolis pt 2 is a pretty good one, and it's got some fairly heavy stuff for Dream Theater standards.

I second this.  My favorite work from Dream Theater.

Yeah, I'll admit Oceano (at least for me) are good for those times where you just want to punch a wall, and or break something.  Other than that, their music starts to become a blur after so many listens :T

Gonna play some Erra to lull myself to sleep.  Good stuff.

Thread's been unforgivably dead lately. Let's change that with some quality deathcore, no?

Slice The Cake, no need to explain.

Quality cleans in deathcore? What is this?

And Aegaeon. One of, if not my complete favorite deathcore group out there. They need to get their asses signed so people can actually hear their music.

Bermuda is a recent deathcore outfit I've been following recently, and surprise, they're Aussie.

Also, on an unrelated note, PALMS had a song called "Tropicals" make its way on the tubes.  Their debut album is announced for this June, but this song was streamed from Chino's mixlr account, which some dudes ripped and uploaded it.  It's obviously not the final version, but I like it.  Reminds me of Team Sleep and "Weight" by ISIS.

I'm hoping that there's going to be heavier tracks.  Not that this isn't great (I love it), but it's just a preference.

Now that's a thread i've been looking for! Hello everybody, you've got another metal fan here. Just to introduce myself, I listen to various kinds of metal, from symphonic to black. eeyup, things like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Nightwish, Powerwolf, Black Sabbath, Slayer, Vader, Behemoth, Cradle of filth (not their new stuff though), couple of other bands, and my very favourite: Rhapsody of fire. I play guitar, mostly rythm (i'm not skilled enough yet to play fancy solos). Oh well but enough talk. Here comes Vader, a thrash/death band from Poland (eeyup that's where I come from)

I really like the vocals, that guy can most certainly do some proper growling :D

Check out my DA! (If you dare...)

 And tumblr!

Anypony up for a bit of Irish Hardrock?! I for some reason seem to have an addiction to their songs all of a sudden but they are certified badass in my opinion. They do have some amazing heavy parts that just make my brain go crazy with delight! ^_^
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FiE7i1ehl8

Go to 2:45 for some epicness!!

And while it's here...does anypony else not think that the singer here sounds a little like James Hetfield from Metallica?

I'm thinking that there probably will be heavier tracks

And not so heavy ones as well, since ISIS and Deftones both did that with their albums

I think that the Palms album will be an awesome one

And I found this video of their rehearsal

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXa5ZjKsfNc

It doesn't really show much, except that awesome Nord Lead synth

That they have

I listened to the Great Misdirect earlier, and to my surprise, it was really boring. Between the Buried and Me is one of those bands that I sort of want to listen to, yet can't actually do.
