Soooo RATM is probably one of the only bands conceivably under the abhorred rap metal genre that I can tolerate, and enjoy even.  This is because I love Tom Morello and ZdlR's vocals.

Their music kinda swings on the fringes of alt/rap/punk/metal, but eh.

edit: I almost forgot.  Remember that awesome band from the 90s by the name of Sugar Ray?  Notable for this

.  Turns they experimented with funk metal in their early days.

It's been 24 hours without any posts? C'mon guys, we were just getting all active again.

In recent news, I just secured my Deftones/Periphery tickets for March 3rd. Not such a bad combo for first metal concert, huh?

Periphery better play The Walk and/or Ragnarok or I'll be upset.

I got around to that Cult of Luna record, "Vertikal," and I have to say that this was that best way to kick off 2013's metal releases. Atmospheric sludge ala ISIS and Pelican with some beautiful yet subtle electronics incorporated into every song. 9/10 easy.

Heh, I read your status too...  Did you Shrek out any more ogre-metal lately?

Wow, I need to get around to listening to more sludge. I didn't even know that Cult of Luna was releasing a new album by now.

Also, I just discovered a Gallowbraid bonus track I never knew existed. It's slightly different from their usual sound.

I've got some shit to do today. Need to catch up on all the MLP since Wonderbolt Academy (I'm a baaaaad brony), listen to this split between Touché Amoré and Pianos Become the Teeth, as well as the other Milo EP, maybe Duke Ellington's Such Sweet Thunder" also, then curl up in a ball in anticipation for "Time II" and "Abandon All Life" to come out.

Oh and the new Bad Religion record was pretty good.

In other news, I've been playing along with this video on my bass all the time lately. Get into this band if you like teh djentz, or even if you don't, because this band is the most unique in the entire scene.

@@Crispy, happy birthday, and here's hoping that it includes whatever the fuck would make it a good day for you.

Happy Birthday- Devin Townsend

Bad Religion

I've heard a few songs by those guys which I really liked, but I was just too lazy to ever check them out. Definitely will.

I need some sludge recommendations, because I listen to less sludge than I do black metal.

I don't know how much sludge you know about, but I enjoy the Melvins, ISIS, Jesu, the middle to later parts of Earth's discography (which are more post-rock in nature (their early discography has some good drone doom stuff)), Cult of Luna, early Pelican, Baroness, Neurosis, and early Mastodon.

Anyway that split I mentioned was fantastic. Post-rock and screamo together? Yes the fuck please.

Darn you, Twiliscael!!! You got me friggin' addicted to this song!!!

On another note, I had almost forgotten how much I fucking love this song:

Now get addicted to the rest of their discography. Papa Twi's lookin' out for you.

And good. Waking the Fallen and Sounding of the Seventh Trumpet are the Avenged Sevenfold albums that I like. Some of City of Evil is good too, I guess.

Alright, after two to three hours of going through numerous amount of random bands I came across these two noteworthy ones.

Okay, first off is Babymetal, a Japanese metal band which makes a lot of different styles too, hip-hop, happy hardcore etc. They're a mix of idol pop and metal really. I took the song that represents their diversity the most but there's a lot more to Babymetal than just this.

Second one is probably a bit more well-known, the band's called Huntress, you probably know this one.

That Babymetal song was okay

It's quite the mixture I must say

But if were gonna bring up Japanese Metal here

Then I prefer Dir En Grey

But that's just my opinion:

Well, I don't know how I missed this. I'm also a fairly avid fan of classical music besides the obvious stuff I like. Anyway, The Human Abstract did Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. It's beautiful, and proves that there is a connection between classical music and metal.

And costs only $2 if you actually purchase music.

I just adore Killswitch Engage.

Also, anyone got any good mathcore bands besides Protest? I like mathcore, and there isn't too many bands I find in the genre, so, yeah!

By mathcore standards, Protest the Hero is a little soft, which makes finding matches kind of difficult.  But you could always give Converge a spin.  They're a ton of fun, if you can get used to the vocals of course.   And the dissonance.

The Dillinger Escape Plan would also be worth your time.

And for the masses, Alice in Chains, because I consider them to be a metal band.
