mega thread Metal Thread

Crispy

Recommended Posts

I've mentioned them several times actually, and a couple other people have also mentioned them.

I've been getting into them lately, they're really good.

Well in my time around this thread they haven't been

I've been a fan of them for a couple of months

I own Black Clouds & Silver Linings and A Dramatic Turn Of Events

Both of those albums are really good

I'm planing on getting Train of Thought and Octavarium next

Those are the two I have right now, those are really really good. I'm so glad I started listening to Dream Theater.

I'm planning on getting Systematic Chaos really soon too.

Off of Systematic Chaos I've only heard The Dark Eternal Night

Which is a pretty awesome song, actually I think it was the first

Dream Theater song that I had listened to

"Dramatic Turn of Events [...] good."

I absolutely despise that album. The drummer is very talented, but that album is just sooooo... soo meh.

If you're listening to Dream Theater, make it their debut, Octavarium, or Systematic Chaos :/

I've already heard the stuff from Octavarium

I was planning on buying that one, but it was sold out

So which is why I bought Dramatic Turn Of Events

And I know what people say about Dramatic Turn Of Events

Even though it's definitely not the greatest stuff that they've done

I still think that it's a good album

You don't like Train of Thought, dude???

That has some incredible songs like Honor Thy Father and As I Am.

That was actually the first album i bought.

I thought that Train Of Thought was an awesome album

It had some really epic songs on it

As I Am was one of my favorites by Dream Theater

That's what we like to call thrash metal! Ask NeverNeverLand when he comes back, he'll give you a TON of recommendations and stuff.

I can give you a few,  like Slayer, Lich King, Pantera, Anthrax, Sodom, and Kreator.

I've heard of most of those, except for Lich King. However, I'm pretty sure Pantera is considered goove metal.

GET ON THAT.  You'll learn a lot about music that way, and make some killer friends.

I would, But there doesn't seem to be a metal community near where I live, sadly.

I've been trying to find more math/grind/noisecore.  Recently came across these fellas my recent listening on last.fm:

Sooo good.

Fuck yeah, all of my yes. I love these guys (and it makes me feel special that my name is in the band's name).

Even if I've only heard this album.  NOPE FULL DISCOGRAPHY TIME.

Well shit, after listening to that song and one other, I guess I know what album I maybe buying soon, lol.

Also, does anyone else know of the imminent debut of Palms?  I am giddy as hell thinking about it.  Chino Moreno and ex-ISIS members tearing it up?  Fuck yes!

Yes I do

Deftones and ISIS are two bands that I really like

I think that Palms will be one of the most epic things

To come out

I'd wait for however amount of time it will take

For their album to be made

Aww shit. These guys were a wonderful band. Their guitarist went on to do Glass Cloud, who I kind of plugged a few weeks ago. Metalcore group with Jerry Roush (ex-Of Mice & Men (yeah, I know)) on vocals, Joshua Travis tearing up an 8 string... what more could you ask for?

They're gonna tear shit UP. So psyched. BRB LISTENING TO EVERY DEFTONES ALBUM BECAUSE I'VE ONLY HEARD THE S/T.

Pokemon Crystal is probably my favorite Pokemon game ever. Super Mario World is also a really great game.

Hey Crispy, I saw that you like melodic metalcore. That seems like a genre I might probably like. Can you recommend me some stuff?

YOU KNOW NOT WHAT YOU DO, RD.

Okay.

Okay.

Melodic metalcore is pretty much my favorite sub-genre of heavy.

Start with these guys.  They are the current masters of it.  Take note of basically everything.  The drumwork, the vocals, the guitar... FUCK.

I need to spend more time hear to learn about more metal bands.

Here is a song by Rammstein that I love and this song has got a catchy rhythm to it.

Hooray for Industrial Metal. This thread needs more Industrial.

Also hooray for it's close relative, Cyber Metal.

I'm also gonna post these guys up, because they're pretty awesome.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAB79iEw5SI

Great studio song but I have seen some terrible live performances which leads me to believe dragonforce is a joke

People keep saying this, but I've seen them life twice, once in '07, and once last year when they supported Maiden, and they were great.

They did have a terrible tour in '06 I think, when they completely screwed everything up.
