Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr idk?

Nothing I listen to is power metal, so I have no idea if I would like it or not. It's not something I've ever gotten into.

I can help you here.  I really like that genre.

Elvenking

Blind Guardian

Helloween

Rhapsody (of Fire)

Symphony X

Kamelot

Gamma Ray

Savage Circus

Persuader

Just a few of my favorites, but you might of heard of them before.

Sometimes I just get really, really angry at how hypocritical that people can be. Metalheads are the ones trying to convince people that we're all mature adults (and young adults  ) and that metal is not for children, right?  Then I'm reminded of how much immature shit they throw on some people or bands. Worst example? Oceano. They have a black vocalist, and the massive amount of hate and prejudice is outright despicable. I don't think that he's the  greatest vocalist, but I still enjoy the band's music and DEFINITELY don't think it's because he's a "shitstain [racism 1]."

It's really a shame too.  There was the same kinda crap for Howard Jones when he was in Killswitch.  Ultimately, you see this kind of treatment in all aspects of life, not just music.  Honestly, it's 2013, people need to chill out with the "race" shit.  But that's likely to never happen in our lifetimes :(

Oceano, to me, is an acquired taste.  It took me a while to warm up to them, but I think they're pretty good, surprisingly.

These guys kinda remind me of BTBM as well, just to change the subject:

I was blasting these guys to get me through the last hour or so of work last night.

It's more hardcore than metal, but it's still heavy.

This song is really catchy. Not metal, but I like it so it'll go here anyway.

I listened to Boris the other day :3 It's drone metal, so yeah, it goes here. Not really for those who get bored easily, though, because it's full of textures, rather than heavy melodies. Good shit.

Edit: The drums are so programmed in this song, that they sound like sound effects for an alien invasion or something. Alternating vocal styles really work well in this one, if you ask me. I still do love this band, even if a ton of there stuff is a bit repetetive and hard to listen to.

Wow...I can't even go on a Megadeth video without seeing people bashing on bronies? really????

Just look at this comment I found:

"Bronies have no right to listen to good music like this because they are so dumb. They deserve Bieber and other mainstream crap. I watch Cartoons too, but not childish, glittery, and girly shit like mlp. It's overrated. If you're gonna watch a good cartoon at least watch something GOOD."

*shrug*

You can't let it get to you.

Besides, they said 'mainstream' on a Megadeth video.  Pretty good indicator of their intelligence.

It's been a long time since I posted some Metallica in here.

Here's a classic song from Ride the Lightning:

Also, here's one of my favorites from Death Magnetic. I fucking love this album :3

anyone else know a good band to add on here:

Favorite metal bands (besides Dream Theater):
1. ISIS
2. Converge
3. (N/A)
4. Cult Of Luna
5. Scar Symmetry

(I have the besides Dream Theater thing here

Because some people like to consider Dream Theater

As just a Progressive band, and not Progressive Metal)

In light of the recent bad news that's stricken the fandom, I feel obliged to post this:

Not gonna get into, but it definitely sucks.

You're obviously taking about Fighting Is Magic

Since it's what everyone else is talking about

I'm not a Whitechapel fan, but yeah that song

Really does work with the situation

So, there was a "Christian music that actually sounds good" thread recently on the OC ReMix forums, in which I ended up making a big ol' post of Christian metalcore. Figured I should probably post some here, as I don't think either of these bands have been posted yet.

Yeah.  I don't wanna distract the thread into a discussion other than metal.  But I need to vent, via the only way I know how, lol.

Kinda sums up how I feel right now :(

Most Christian metal I've come across actually sounds pretty decent, despite not practicing the religion myself.  Haste the Day is a good example of this.  They do tackle real issues like addiction and depression nicely without heavily alluding to their faith.

My favorite song by them, 68, does refer to Revelations 6:8, but it's an interesting song about the destructive nature of people.  I've got nothing against Christianity, for the record.

One does not simply pick just 5 favorite Metal bands.

(Also, how does that even make sense? You can't just be "progressive", that's incredibly ambiguous. Progressive what? Progressive Rock? Metal? House?

Pfffft... img-1159189-1-EAqtS.png )

Anyway, time for something old school.

I know it's pretty stupid

That some people just classify everything that has Progressive

In it's name as just Progressive, some people

And I wanna have a top 5 list so that

When someone asks what kind of Metal

I like I can give a simple list

Rather than naming off like 20 different bands

Like I usually do

A lot of people tend to get annoyed when I do that

RXYZYXR!!!

I found these guys when they came out with their debut album, and I spread it to my friends who loved them from the first song. These guys are like the uber-modern Meshuggah.

Wait what uh what what? I haven't caught up with the last four episodes, if it's something recent. Or is it more of the fandom still freaking out about Twilicorn or something? Think I should catch up soon.

But yeah, I liked that Whitechapel album. More melodic than most deathcore happens to be, which is a good thing. This song might be relevant, but it's kind of a guess.

Hasbro sent the makers of Fighting is Magic a cease and desist notice.   People were really set on playing that game, but now they can never play it.

I'm in a symphonic metal mood.

I haven't listened to symphonic metal in ages, but damn, is it awesome.
