It's a Coalesce kind of day.

If there was more metalcore made in the same way it was in ye olden days of the 1990s, I'd be happy. We have Every Time I Die and Converge keeping it going, sure, but Botch and Poison the Well and all those guys have long since packed up (unless PtW comes out of hiatus). In other words, less chugging, more musicianship.

So Twiliscael basically forced me to buy this album. I'm gonna have to listen to it a few more times before I can really have a solid opinion on it, though.

Periphery Stuffz

You see, because usually I can get someone to listen to Animals as Leaders. From there, they listen to Dream Theater and Periphery, and on and on until they start listening to a wide variety of metallic things. Works out well most of the time.

To add to that, I've been listening to a bit too much AAL lately ;)

I always had liked Dream Theater

But yet I'm not too big on Periphery and AAL

Maybe I just need to give them some time to grow onto me

Though I'll admit that those two songs were pretty good

Maybe I'm already starting to grow onto them

I'm on a quest to find some decent melodic death from different countries. Italy, unbeknownst to me, does actually have a good metal scene:

Also, Chino Moreno just posted this on his FB page:

Oh hell yes, the Palms album will be awesome

Seriously Chino going around with former members of ISIS?

How could that ever be bad? Two awesome bands come together as one!

Italy brought us Fleshgod Apocalypse, with one of the most insane drummers I've ever heard. Debut is straight-up technical death but their sophomore album is symphonic death.

PALMS IS COMING SOON IT'S HAPPENING.

I finalized my top 10 albums of all time list and the highest-ranking metal album on the list was "Oceanic." I guess I like ISIS a lot.

The snares on the snare are always off. That fucking clang. The riff that gets introduced halfway in is amazing too.

This band is pretty good too. They're on Basick, so I suppose that's why; this label has so much talent.

I'm big into melodic death metal, if you guy's hadn't guessed already.  It's just that genre that clicks for me.  I've been listening to Kalmah for about a year now, and I've loved everything they've done.

Dude, same. And since we're talking about melodeath again, I'll give Mercenary another plug again! They're not from Italy though, they're from Denmark. I really haven't heard much Italian melodeath, save for Disarmonia Mundi. I like Kalmah too, loved Swampsong. I remember that my first song I heard from them was "Moon of My Nights", which I learned to play on the guitar by ear, along with it's piano arrangement too, since it's kinda boring to not play anything at those parts.

Seriously though, Mercenary. The two guys make a great vocal duo. Got 11 Dreams from them recently, which is good. I think "Architect of Lies" is a bit better though, mostly as Mikkel Sandager does some insanely impressive lead vocals on it.

Recently taken a liking to this track by them, which is pretty heavy.

<Rings of Saturn>

I admire Rings of Saturn for their musicianship. That being said, they seem fall victim to Necrophagist Syndrome™ (Copyright © Count Blagorath) where the instrumentation is simply technical for the sake of being technical. I don't like the band, but they certainly aren't bad. Now, when I want technical whatnots, I turn to Behold... the Arctopus.

I find their music to be much more dynamic and engaging. Plus, they don't have a bass, they have a Warr guitar, and that's pretty cool.

Norther has always been my favorite Melodeath Metal band, but I'd imagine that you've probably heard of them already. It was pretty sad to see Petri leave the band, his screams are amazing.

This was my black metal for yesterday. Pretty good, they're one of my favorite black metal bands. Though An Autumn for crippled children will always be the beff.

I found it. The loudest thing ever recorded. The Gerogerigege's "Tokyo Anal Dynamite."

Yeah, it's a noisecore record, which falls a bit outside of metal, but it's got guitars (I think) and it's distorted, so... METAL. WAH.

My flavor of the day:

I have a new addiction, and it is Dionaea. Fucking amazing band. They have elements of post-rock, mathcore, and grindcore in their sound and create really dynamic pieces of awesome.

EDIT: On the Bandcamp edition of "Still," there's vocals, and the lyrics are so good.

Nice tastes!  Disarmonia Mundi is good.   And Mercenary is excellent as well.  Melodeath is pretty much all I listen to these days.  Well, that and folk metal.

Or both of them, mixed together, like Eluveitie.

I'm digging this band

And because its 9 in the morning heres some good shit to wake you up.

And a quick question?

Is it generally frowned upon to upload songs from you library if you cant find them on youtube?

Just wondering Because it seems like nobody does it.

holy fuck guys im so fucking brutal look how brutal i am, this is da most brutal shit u eva gonna hear like seriously guys just omg so fukcing heavy and shi

Cool, I can use some not regularly tuned guitars and standard jazz drumset and call it a metal cover! Metal's sure gone mainstream, alright.

I've been listening to Glassjaw lately. Yeah, it's post-hardcore technically but I still love it. I have a thing for vocalists with semi-high clean vocals.

In case that's not metal enough.
