Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll check those bands out.

Railrunner, I haven't listened to melodeath other than folk melodeath, but I'd want to give other kinds of melodeath a listen to see if I liked them too.

Maybe should have brought this up earlier, but I think I'm kinda alone in digging these guys.

Not a lot of people I know like AOAA.

Oh, well in that case I'll bring up some other recommendations.

he metal genres I like the most are melodic death metal (primarily melodic/folk death metal, such as Ensiferum, Finntroll, and Eluveitie), technical death metal (bands like Obscura), symphonic metal (bands like Nightwish, Delain, and Leaves' Eyes), and power metal (bands like DragonForce, Blind Guardian, and Stratovarius).

I'm know of plenty of death metal bands, not so much on power/symphonic.

So, based on that, what are some other bands I should try out? I don't want to listen to anything that's satanic (including people who think pretending to be satanic makes them cool), gory, or depressing. I don't like metal that involves that kind of content.

Dang it. :(

Have you tried Cynic? They're technical death metal/jazz fusion.

And here's Atheist, I doubt they're Satanic, just anti-religious.

Sludge and crust punk find a very long-winded crossroads on "Rites of Separation," the newest from Agrimonia. Very melodic, but also very heavy.

Also, Within The Ruins gets pretty quick and has some rad guitar work.

Get into them, Invade and Elite were both damn heavy albums.

Except for Invade's god-awful lyrics.

I listened to ██████'s demo, like all the cool kids on /mu/ are doing. It was alright, pretty typical black metal, though I was surprised at how clear it all sounded.

Planning on listening to Cult of Luna's newest album today, I still have to get my ass on that.

Happy day, thread.

If I let lyrics stop me, there's no way I'd be able to listen to the amount of hardcore I do.

One of my favorite older bands, but hardly lyrical genius.

I'm listening to FFDP and trying to get myself to like them cause I'm gonna see them live when I go to see Sevenfold in September. I was supposed to see fuckin' Megadeth but they decided to play on a different day than Sevenfold, ugggh, so I'm stuck with friggin' FFDP, blehhhh. Anyway, after listening to several FFDP songs, I think I kinda like this one:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrmAJiwOjNI

I feel like the vocals sound way too much like Slipknot though. I mean, really, that song sounds so similar to this song:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Da84QU8UgRA

FFDP just seems kind of unoriginal and bland to me...the vocals just feel like a ripoff of Slipknot, and Slipknot is a lot better in my opinion.

Oh, and I'm also gonna see Volbeat and A Day to Remember, but who gives a fuck about them. Well, eh, they're okay I guess...Megadeth would have been way better though...

I don't like FFDP, they're just too *hiss* for me.

So I've decided to start getting into doom metal, and I decided to start off with the classic stuff. Right now I'm digging Saint Vitus. I'll probably check out Pentagram and Cathedral next.

Hi. I was wondering if anyone could give me suggestions for new bands I could try out, based on my musical preferences.

The metal genres I like the most are melodic death metal (primarily melodic/folk death metal, such as Ensiferum, Finntroll, and Eluveitie), technical death metal (bands like Obscura), symphonic metal (bands like Nightwish, Delain, and Leaves' Eyes), and power metal (bands like DragonForce, Blind Guardian, and Stratovarius).

Not too well on any of those areas, though you might dig Opeth

Damnit, just search up "The Drapery Falls" on YouTube

If you're good with the Japanese vocals then Dir En Grey would work out quite well

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mv98CSMkhpQ

So my Boris torrent got screwed up, FML

How lovely

I listened to ██████'s demo, like all the cool kids on /mu/ are doing. It was alright, pretty typical black metal, though I was surprised at how clear it all sounded.

I enjoyed it, nothing that I'd go crazy for but it still wasn't that bad of a listen.

It's okay though, I was still able to download Amplifier Worship, I'll probably listen to it later. I also downloaded The Gallery because I never bothered listening to it until now.

Oh look, it's a Metal thread. I'm gonna post here

I hope you guys don't mind Nostromo spamming

Amazing band, I recommend them to anyone who is into more extreme Metalcore bands with Grindcore influences such as Gaza

Really quite impressed with this record. It's only going to get better with repeated listens.

Can't wait for more to go up from this record so I can share it with y'all.

Planning to listen to this in a while as well.

I listened to all of Scar Symmetry's discog over the past few days, and I'm pretty impressed. I'm not familiar with melodeath at all, and if Scar Symmetry's anything like the rest of it, I'm pretty interested. It's like death metal and prog mixed together without being too obnoxious about either. Favorite Scar Symmetry record has to be Holographic Universe.

On an Opeth kick now.

You should listen to Carcass, this is like my favorite metal album ever. It's like sorta proggy but grindy but also at he same time kinda melodic death metal.

WHAT THE FUCK DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH MELODEATH, DAWN? Someone give me recs, kay?

Painted in Exile because I need to get used to this vocalist for the Contortionist. These guys are some experimental, genre-bending proggy deathcore.

So basically exactly how I like it.

The vocalist has some really good cleans, some average higher-ended shrieks, though his growling seems pretty typical. We'll see how it works out, I guess.

Trying to get into some REAL death metal.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6how8WQODeg

Incantation runs shit. This album was great.

I'm not new to this album at all. Grey Misery is probably one of my favorite death metal albums, it's a shame Disgrace never blew up like they should have.

A tech death album I'm not ashamed of liking. Weird ass growls, but you get used to them. Demilich's discog is up for free on their website, if you want it.

I HAD TO FALL TO LOSE IT ALL BUT IN THE END IT DOESN'T EVEN MATTER /WRISTS

And At the Gates is really good good too.

Yup, essential stuff
