This song came up on my newly-created Skeletonwitch station. I've heard of Amon Amarth before but never listened to them. It's strange though, slow metal usually doesn't do much for me but this song drew me in and I couldn't stop listening.

So I've heard THREE Amon Amarth songs so far, all from the same album though, and...I REALLY like the sound. It's melodic, beat-sensitive and the vocalist is amazing.

I actually never tried listening to them before. The music seems pretty good, but the vocals aren't really my thing. It seems like there's a lot of stuff I would like if the vocals were a different style, but oh well.

Death growls are always an acquired taste. Even if you like one it can take some getting used to another. They don't do nothin' for me usually unless I like the other music behind it too though.

I've never been able to get into death growls. I can't get into death metal, deathcore, etc. I also can't get into mathcore or grindcore. What sucks is that sometimes I really like the music but I don't like the vocals :/

I find that the best way to get used to harsh vocals is to listen to a band like ISIS where the vocals are a little buried in the mix.

This is an all time favorite of mine, and a great way to start one's venture into harsh vocal land.

Now the question is: How much do you actually listen to it? It takes some time to get used to them. I used to hate it with Avenged Sevenfold but they were also the reason I started getting used to it. Then there was Dethklok which is nothing but....and it just snowballed from there. You get used to it, then you start to like it and start seeing variety.

Ask yourself: Is it worth "getting used to" death growls for the sake of great music? I would personally think so but that's up to you.

I like how when Halfblood comes back he brings all this glorious melodic djenty stuff.

Really digging it, especially with the new TesseracT vocalist.

Also, they really need to get their asses on a release date.

Guitar tone's kind of ugly, but besides that they're golden.

Waking the Fallen by Avenged Sevenfold is the album that got me into screaming vocals. I never thought I would like any kind of screaming, but I gave it a chance and now I like a lot of bands that scream, like Trivium, Between the Buried and Me, Lamb of God, etc.

I just can't get into death metal vocals, although there's a few death metal songs I've heard that I've liked a bit.

There's really not that much of a difference between death growls and...well any other kind. A growl is a growl.

Or you could go for demonic screeching like Cradle of Filth.

Well from the sound of it, I must say I quite like the music, but I can't say I'm digging the vocals. I'm just really not a fan of that style I guess :/

If there were more cleans on this album, it wouldn't have the atmosphere that it has. That's what it comes down to with ISIS, really, and it's the reason why I think they're so great.

Maybe you should try Cult of Luna, they're similar to Isis.

Anyways, I've busy listening to screamo lately so I haven't listened to much metal.

Anyway, gonna post this again because I flippin' feel like it.

I don't see much difference between the vocals of Tommy Rogers and Aaron Turner or Klas Rydberg. The music behind them is different, but they all have powerful growls.

I don't know, maybe I'm just extremely picky when it comes to growls. It really just depends on the specific style and sound of the growling I guess. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't mind it, and sometimes I just flat out dislike it.

You might like Wavering Radiant, it has more clean vocals and less harsh vocals.

Funny since Isis were the band that got me into harsh vocals

I was actually listening to Entombed on my way to school today. There weren't too many people on the bus so I was actually able to listen to my music.

Does Dawn get nervous in public with his music?

I was referring to how people are usually loud and I'm barely able to hear my music. Although I do get nervous in public, I can't even order some fat food with out getting tense.

World's shortest album, here I come.

But seriously, I apologize. Probably a bit of a low blow, there S:

Carcass to cheer you up?

Yes Carcass always cheers me up, SoS is a great grindy-death metal album. Well then again, fast food is high in fat.

I just downloaded this album, I'm about to listen to it right now.

Posting this for the lulz, I wonder if this band actually has any lyrics at all, and what they would be, though I think most likely not

Hmm. Been a while since I've dropped by. Welp, just gonna leave some Annihilator here and hit the ol' dusty trail...

^One of me personal faves.

^Another fave. No shit, right?

I don't think there's a solitary goddamn aspect of this band that anyone can consider weak. Guitars = godly. Bass = godly. Drums = Mike Mangini > Mike Portnoy = godly. The only thing I see folks criticizing is the vox, but they're manly so STFU&GTFO.
