Season 5 Villain Predictions?

I've heard something about season five, where LUNA will possibly turn back into nightmare moon to defeat a certain "evil" or "villain" are there any thoughts

On this? Or any ideas how strong/who/ or what the new villain will be?

Honestly.

 

Grogar and Smooze were the only villains in G1 that came close or were maybe at the level of Tirek. Catrina was redeemed, and was a great character but not that much of a great villain, Arabus was awesome, but G4 Tirek stole his ability to stole magic from others, so he isn't going to return. 

 

I would also like Lavan. He might be aside from the Smooze the one who caused more trouble in all the rogue's gallery. I mean, causing a magical imbalance through an entire country, and transforming everything into crystal before transforming yourself into an indestructible monster is bad-ass.

 

The others are meh, more like jerks than actual villains. But hey, at least they did more than chocolate rain goat guy in the S2 premiere.

Grogar is probably the only G1 villain that should return.

 

For an original villain, I'd like to see a dragon.

I don't think Smooze should be an actual villain. I think maybe there is some gooey thing that makes ponies grumpy, and Pinkie Pie saves Ponyville? I mean like it's not sentient or living at all.

 

Grogar though, that would be awesome. I loved that episode. (Then again, I loved a lot of the episodes of G1)

No what you heard is Luna having a Nightmare. That is all. I think you are highly misinterpreting things.

Grogar would be cool. Maybe have him as some sort of overarching villain for the series, using other villains or threats to spread his influence or try to bring Tambelon back from the realm of darkness, eventually building up to his big return to Equestria (series finale material, bro).

 

The Smooze would also be cool, if they went a bit darker with it, and as long as it doesn't do a story where the Mane Five get corrupted by the Smooze and Twilight has to solve everything by herself. Again.

 

Given the implied format of Season 5, where our heroes are traveling across Equestria to face new threats or solve crises, this could be an excellent opportunity to feature villains that break the mold and aren't all powerful demigods like the rest of them.

The Sombra fan-boy in me screams for freakin' Sombra. I don't care about the 'he's dead' stuff. Given enough creative freedom seemingly dead characters can return in some form or fashion.

 

Anywho, my favorite to see would be Grogar. I mean I absolutely LOVED him in the G1 series. So dark & menacing; yet powerful & intelligent. Heck, even his faithful minion Bray is fine, considering he stayed by his master's side when Tambelon bit the dust. Gotta respect that...in a way. XD

I agree, we don't need more villains, one of the things i loved about Magical Mistery Cure and Princess Twilight Sparkle is that they both didn't need a villain to work.

What I want in S5 is for the "villain" to be an impending apocalypse, like an asteroid coming down to Equestria or something equivalent to that.

 

We don't really need villains for every opener/finale. If they always use villains, the show might degenerate into unoriginal and cliche-laden stories...  -_-

I'd like to see a semi-sympathetic villain, preferably a male one at least as good as Discord in the character development department. Part of why they'd be hard to fight would be the characters' reservations about fighting them in the first place.

 

Personally, I'd have someone take a stand against Celestia's more questionable decisions as a ruler. I mean, never in a billion years, I know, but that would shake up the protagonists a bit.
