Does France exist in MLP Universe?

I just watched "Suited for Success" yesterday and I heard that Fluttershy said "French haute couture, please!".

I mean... Seriously? FRENCH? Is human world really possibly existing in MLP Universe? And it's EG a paralel universe with alien multicolor-skinned people who look like humans but aren't? If you do the comparison it's a little confusing, no?

And let's not forget Apple Bloom speaking in 'fancy'

In any case, there definitely seems to be an Equestrian Mexico.  There's been mentions of quesadillas and chimichangas.  We've heard the piñata song and seen mariachi bands.  Yay!

Well you have saddle Arabia (saudi Arabia) in there so i can't see why not why France shouldn't exist in mlp? Or i think its canterlot

um let me see

on the Cutie Pox episode Applebloom gets a cutie mark of a French symbol and speaks French

I saw this comic some where but couldn't find it stating that French is a real language in that world

Coco from S4 I believe is a French name

also one of Rarity's styles from S2 is French

so there is a France parallel in the MLP universe but still no evidence of a Russia

Yes, even the French language exists in MLP (Applebloom in Cutie Pox). However, maybe the country's name isn't "France" but a pony-related pun?

There is probably an Equestrian version of it, with some horse related name like "Manehattan."

How would this Applebloom scene make sense in the French version of the show?

Sig made by Kyoshi.

Cool things people have said about me:

Never heard of him but I guess just you mentioning him is a good reason not to go anywhere near that name.

(In reference to an author I suggested.)

@@RainbowMau,

Probably, and probably a pony pun version of it.  Though I always counted that as a minor slip up on the writers.  Yeah, it supposed to be a reference to French stylized fashion design, but should've pony punned when they ran with it. Oh well  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Huh, it's mentioned in the comics that French is a spoken language in Equestria? Interesting. Can't remember the issue? Somepony will have to dig it up for us to go and investigate.

Also the symbol is called the Fleur-de-lis

Where are some French Bronies who watched the French dubbed version of that scene who can tell us if that joke translated or not? It's only 11 pm (2300 hours) over there (as of writing this).

If I recall correctly, reading from some French commentators on youtube claimed that in the French version, Applebloom was speaking in "old dialect French" and that was the only way to make that scene make some sense to French viewers.

French version at 0:37

I also might be wrong, but I think in the original English version, I think they used French Canadian, but I'm not 100% sure.

I apologise and take back what I said, it's probably more likely a blind idiot translation

I think Prance is quite accurate.

Applebloom is indeed speaking in "François"(which is the old french dialect).

Oddly enough, they added in some profanity from this dialect like "Ventre-saint-gris" ,"Pardieu"(can't translate those one)

...And yeah,it sucks...

That is indeed correct. Applebloom speaks French normally so, that scene would make no sense if she spoke normally.

In fact, it makes a lot of sense that she speaks in "old" French, and this is because her cutie mark (Fleur-de-Lis) used to be the French Royalty Symbol .

No, it does not exist in the Friendship is Magic universe or perhaps not even in the Equestria Girlsuniverse.

They could have just removed the scene.

How has anyone  not mentioned Fancy Pant's escort, Fleur De Lys? She even has the symbol of the same name as her cutie mark :P

Wait, really? They got away with profanity in the French dub? Can't tell if Getting Past the Radar or Bilingual Bonus.  Though it sounds like it didn't translate well.

They could have just removed the scene.

But we need to keep scenes that don't translate well in the original foreign language, what fun is there in making the scene make sense :umad:

My head-canon; Equestria takes place in post-apocalyptic earth, MLPonies=mutated horses from nuclear disaster, EQGirls= ponies millions of years in the future after FiM. Twilight went to the future in the movie. France exists, as Prance. If you look at Equestria's map, all the pun-cities take place where the original cities are.

This 'spoiler' is from the topic, "Is Equestria Located On Earth?" by BetaWolf ;

It's possible that the official map of Equestira is a distortion of the 'real' terrain, as many of the features do line up with a map of North America once you fiddle with it a bit. The distortion may seem extreme to some of you, but honestly real hand-drawn historical maps can be just as distorted as this.

As a rough estimate, this puts Ponyville somewhere in the Midwest, let’s say Iowa just because it amuses me to think that the Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000 episode is that much closer to the Music Man. That puts Canterlot as Chicago, Appleloosa is Oklahoma (fitting), and the Changeling Badlands are around New Orleans... ... ... yeah, I still find that funny. B)

Ponies recreated old human cities and countries. Equestria=America, the part of Mexico that is not in the Equestria map=Mexicolt, France=Prance (they call it French because Prench doesn't work like that). Germany=Germaneigh, Saudi Arabia=Saddle Arabia.

My cider brings all the ponies to the yard and they're like its better than yours, damn right it's better than yours. I can teach you, but I have to charge

France? Not likely, they eat horse over there!

The griffin in MMMystery of the Friendship Express speaks with a strong French Accent. There are also several references to the French language (When Applebloom starts speaking in French when she has cutie pox).

You have saddle Arabia which references a real-life country, so why not France ?

I'm sure they do, given all the other nationalities shown on the show.

And I could have sworn they made reference to a country called "prance" in the show before...
