Do you hate it when bronies do this

Do you hate it when bronies preach Love and Tolerance and then turn around and hate on their own kind. I'm referring to no one in particular and please please be civil and respectful of this. That's all I ask of you.

Love and tolerance was simply a cute mantra made up in the early days of the fandom to promote the good feelings the show gave and try to get people to get along with each other at least inside the pony community.  Of course it didn't work very well and a lot of people outright defied it, but it's still a great mantra to go by.

Still, though, it was never actually said or promoted in the show at all and you should just want to follow it of your own will, not any kind of obligation you may feel or thinking it has anything directly to do with ponies.  So either say it AND practice it, or just ignore it; don't say it and then hypocritically fail to follow it, y'know?

Not really, some members of the herd make it damn-near impossible to 'Love and tolerate' them anyways. This also applies to people outside our fandom.

We are human, we get offended and we each have separate thoughts and feelings. Just because I don't like a anti-brony calling me a 'ponyfag' doesn't make me rabid or against the Love and Tolerance policy.

Personally I feel the ones citing that seriously aren't the ones usually* acting like that. It's nice to say words, but sometimes I think people say it more as a catchy phrase, than an actual ideal they want to uphold to protect the happiness of others.

* Either way, there's always that background, unspoken agreement that everything has its limits. Some bronies just draw it at different places.

I DO hate it when bronies say like "what if this person was a brony?"

Hey, we are human, most humans can get offended easily, and it's kinda hard to preach love and peace if like you're only gonna be made fun of by other bronies (Just using this as an example) so snapping at people in the same fandom is alright, we're humans, we can't be perfect. People can be downright friendly then suddenly snap on someone.

then turn around and hate on their own kind

Obligatory apology for a quote parse, but that caught my eye a little. Bronies are just as complex as any other human walking this dust ball orbiting the sun. There is no doubt in my mind that some fans have taken something positive from FiM and have improved their lives with it, and a greater portion probably do find themselves happier either due to the show, or being a part of the fandom and discussion. But truth be told I have a hard time viewing Bronydom as a 'kind'. I will say that in general the fandom is less aggressive toward each other that some others I have known, but you shouldn't be shocked that fans haven't used what amounts to a troll shield as a creed in their personal lives.

@@hip-indeed, basically you gave the same run down my brother-in-law told me about several times. Almost verbatim. I don't know why I just had to point that out.

yeah mate I hate the Anti-cloppers they make us look very very hypocritical and not only do they make them selves look bad in-front of other bronies they fuel the Anti-Bronies to give them more reason to hate us

Well, to be fair. Very, very few bronies actually believe in the catch phrase "love and tolerate" it is really just a cute saying based off an image that appeared during the early threads on /co/ as the fandom was forming. And does it get annoying? Occasionally, but you also must remember what this entire thing is, it is just a fan group for a tv show. Not a political party, not a order of religious monks, this is simply just a random collection of people with a single shared interest. Bare in mind the single. So whilst it can be annoying to see bronies not tolerate others of this fan group, it is just a fan group and total 100% cohesion can never be achieved.

tl;dr it is just a fan group, so infighting is expected. This isn't exactly a ethnic collective.

I will tolerate a lot of crazy shit, but when it becomes hurtful and destructive to others, then that's where I draw the line.

Sometimes it is hard to love and tolerate. If you keep it in the back of your head and be mindful, you are sure to respect others to your best ability. I believe this goes a long way. It's kinda like - 'when you're smiling, the whole world smiles with you'. Yeah... I love and tolerate ponies, it's why we are here in life...  ^_^

Imagine if you will being on your death bed – And standing around your bed – the ghosts of the ideas, the dreams, the abilities, the talents given to you by life.

And that you for whatever reason, you never acted on those ideas, you never pursued that dream, you never used those talents, we never saw your leadership, you never used your voice, you never wrote that book.

And there they are standing around your bed looking at you with large angry eyes saying "We came to you, and only you could have given us life! But now. We must die with you FOREVER!

The question is – if you die today, what ideas, what dreams, what abilities, what talents, what gifts, would die with you?

I just laugh my ass off at these people!  It's really funny how bronies gather when there's a hater around them, yet when the hater goes away they go and hate on one of the cast characters! stupidity at it's finest!

"Love and tolerate" is too vague a description or "way to act". People find ways around it because it's simply in their nature to do so. Yes, it may be something you can take good lessons out of, almost like the Mane 6's friendship lessons, but it's just skirted around by so many more. Selfishness plays a huge part, as does natural personality and influence of others - peer pressure is the most common from what I've seen.

(Sorry about the stream of consciousness writing style.)

In summary, it may be a bad twinge on the show of the fandom, but although it isn't nice, it should be, as mentioned "tolerated". Don't try and blame anyone - it just makes it worse. I've spent a lot of time defending others from attacks through verbal insults, but attacking back is a bad move.

(Sorry if I'm hard to understand. It makes perfect sense to me :P)

Love and Tolerate is a slogan, if a business has a slogan that doesn't mean that every worker obeys the slogan, or agrees with the slogan.

I called someone a friend fat at BronyCon and his sister punched me in the gut multiple times, it was good.
