iceestarz 5,764 August 14, 2014 Share August 14, 2014 Do animals tend to like you, come around more easily to you than others? I myself have always loved animals. They've just always intrigued me. I care for each animal I ever meet and treat them with the utmost care and compassion. I really got thinking about it today. I just got home from my former teacher's house. She was my first grade teacher, her family and mine have been close for like ever, me being a senior this year. She has 2 rescue dogs. One of them, Gunner, is so shy and timid. He literally avoids all strangers. I was sitting outside talking and he came up to me. I could tell he was scared so I just took it slow, gently petted him. He looked up at me so I gave him a really small smile, looked him in the eyes and petted the sides of his face. He wouldn't leave my side at all after that, my former teacher was really shocked. He never does that to anyone, she told me that was a huge deal and that I was like some animal whisperer lol. The same went for her other dogs, she has 3 small white ones, all of which were fighting for my attention. Seriously, I was rubbing one of the dog's belly and then the other two started growling at the one and trying to get me to pet them. And don't get me started on their cat. She was the sweetest thing ever. I noticed that she was getting really lonely since no one was paying attention to her so I picked her up and she was cuddling the stuffing out of me, rubbing her face on mine and licking me. I was so sad when I had to leave. I wanted to take her home with me. My teacher was all for it since it was her son's and he left without the cat but my mom was totally against the idea of getting another animal. Not to mention when I rescued my cat Dale who passed away in May he was totally scared. I was the only one who managed to get him out from under my brothers bed when he first came home with us. After that he hardly ever left my side, he slept in my room every single day. And after my jaw surgery he avoided me for a week, but then finally started coming around when I wasn't some bloody god awful mess and never left my side after that. I literally was a potato on the couch and so was he until I finally could walk without wanting to pass out. Any other animals I've met in my life have just stuck right next to me if I'm ever around. Even ones that are normally mean to strangers. It makes me feel like Fluttershy sometimes lol. Anyone else out there some sort of animal god/goddess?

iceestarz 5,764 August 14, 2014 Author Share August 14, 2014 I love animals, but animals tend to avoid me, unfortunately. Awh, I'm so sorry I've only had one experience with an animal avoiding me. But I'm sure he is just mad at me. My best friend had 3 dogs back a couple years, all of which loved me then I moved to Washington, came back in April this year and well his dog Charlie literally avoids me. Anytime I go even near him he runs off. It's heart breaking cause he used to love me before I left for about 2 years. So I can understand how terrible it feels. He still keeps his distance, but it's been getting better since I go over to my friends house a lot. I just have to take it slow and be patient. It's frustrating, I've gotten to the point where I just stand in the living room staring at the dog froma distance and shout "let me love you Charlie!" Over and over lol. It kind of sucks being some animal magnet though, my little brother who's autistic and has other problems is a total cat lover. He gets so upset and discouraged since animals always go near me and not him since they are attracted to me for some reason. Like today he told me that he was really sad that the cat loved me and not him. I felt really bad
Invincible 2,091 August 14, 2014 Share August 14, 2014 When i was little, animals used to approach me a lot more often - i had several occurrences where a stray followed me home. Now that I've sorta gotten big, dogs or cats that see me walking by look up and are probably scared or something. 2 My OCs for Roleplay purposes: o Lit Fuse (http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/lit-fuse-r6608) o Dust Devil (http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/dust-devil-r7357)

Jeric 46,851 August 14, 2014 Share August 14, 2014 Yes. I don't know why ... but they do. I posted this elsewhere on the board, but a few years back we fostered a blind cat while the local rescue org could raise the funds for the needed surgery. That cat wouldn't leave me alone! Whenever I was sitting down she would find her way to me and climb me just to sit on my head.
N.W. 3,619 August 14, 2014 Share August 14, 2014 I try to think of myself as one and I get along pretty well with most. Of the two dogs in my house one bonded really well with my mom as she works from home and is thus around the dogs for most of the day. the other dog however has bonded very well with me, her favorite places to sleep are under my desk while I'm working or playing games and on my bed. I like a lot of different animals, but dogs remain my favorite pet.

I love them so much, out of all the animals I've had they are the best pets. Although I've only had cats, dogs, fish and a tortoise at one point. Nothing too exotic. The tortoise was pretty boring lol. I commend Rainbow for having that thing as a pet.
jezsiema 39 August 14, 2014 Share August 14, 2014 I tend to attract cats No matter where I go, I have at least one or two trailing behind me. It is nice, because I LOOOOVE cats myself. But there is a problem to it... Whenever I get angry with one stray, he tend to "argue" back.. -_-" 2 "I am and always will be the optimist. Gravelord Neat-O 305 August 14, 2014 Share August 14, 2014 i once encountered a stray pitbull, a lot of people were scared of him and avoided him and i just sat down on the sidewalk and he came up to me and started licking my face. People thought he was my dog, But he wasn't, guess i'm an animal magnet,
Odyssey 5,716 August 14, 2014 Share August 14, 2014 (edited) I seem to get along with cats and birds. I don't have a cat, but when I go to someone's house, their cat will always seem to go along with me waiting for attention. xP I used to go to a lake, and every time when I have the chance, I rip out some pieces of bread and give it out to the ducks. I kind of know how to hand-feed a duck... xP I'm terrible with dogs, however. I have one, and while I sort of get along with her, she usually stays away from me. -3- Edited August 14, 2014 by Mienshao

DND 2,355 August 17, 2014 Share August 17, 2014 Dogs most of the time are pretty friendly and love to lick me at every turn but I don't think I've ever had met a cat that didn't like me aside from the scaredy strays. Other animals besides pets also count too. I'm a magnet for bugs/insects/other crawly classes it seems and I had a curious praying mantis walk up to me when I was kid before. (I got to pick it up and touch it and stuff) I love animals though. I want to become a part-time zoologist so this may or may not come in handy... it all just depends. xD

Had to collect 30 bugs and freeze them, then identify them and jab them to a poster board with a pin. But whudddddup, fellow zoologist! I've put a lot of thought, changed my ideas but settled on becoming like a zoologist or something in that area after college.

That sounds like the coolest project ever- freezing insects and such and turning it into a reference, lol. Well, if I can have two jobs in the future I would definitely add zoology to my schedule but my main goal is becoming a cartoonist for now. That doesn't mean I'm not gonna study for it though! Well, if I can have two jobs in the future I would definitely add zoology to my schedule but my main goal is becoming a cartoonist for now. That doesn't mean I'm not gonna study for it though! It was pretty fun, I mean for class we all just went outside in the 90 degree heat hunting for bugs for an hour and a half for a couple weeks. sure beat sitting in a classroom listening to my teacher lecturing us with notes. The only sucky part was trying to find the bugs and then having to find every single scientific name for them, which was hard when you had no idea what bug you even were looking at -_- but alas, life goes on.

Zygen 6,066 August 17, 2014 Share August 17, 2014 (edited) I sometimes like to think that animals like me. And when I speak to animals I tend to do so softly, especially if they don't know me. I guess some seem to be more encouraged to be around me than others. For instance I was at someone else's house, and they had a dog who was shy, but the dog still ended up coming near me, and while he didn't stay too long, he stayed for a little bit. Of course, I went to another house and had the shy dog they had there pretty much avoid me most of the time. I still tend to speak softly towards animals, and I do love animals. I sometimes pretend they can actually understand what I'm saying or something,(I'm weird, and or lonely I guess) But in reality I don't think they are anymore attracted or comfortable with me than most others. I like to believe that animals do understand what we say. The tone of our voice, the body language, if they can't understand the actual meanings of our words they definitely understand those two things. Just by showing them a little kindness, well it can go a long way. Whether they're hurt and scared because of neglect and abuse, outgoing and happy or just shy and timid, they all deserve to be treated with nothing less than compassion. That's when they open up and sense the kind soul behind a person. So no, you're not weird or lonely. They may be animals, but they can sense emotions and are nothing less than intellectual beings. I usually chase the animals more than the animals chase me...a la Fluttershy. I mean come on, I absolutely love animals and every time I see a cat, dog, bunny, ferret, etc, I just wanna hug it and pet it and claim it mine.Yaaaaaas. Everytime I see an animal I can't help but rush over to them and cuddle them. Doesn't matter what kind of animal, I will love it unconditionally. They're just so cute and adorable and fluffy and I love it so much
Ziggy + Angel + Rain 11,302 August 17, 2014 Share August 17, 2014 I have been called the "Cat Whisperer" by some lol. I have a way / rapport with cats; though perhaps I'm just a skillful petter. But I get cats and cats get me. Common ground: we both adore tuna fish. And for the longest time, I was the only person that my neighbor's cat would warm up to. Heck, I'm not sure he ever warmed to his owner lol. He lives on our porch now. I can haz your cat?? Maybe I'm also good with spiders??? It's hard to tell when an arachnid is happy. But I go out of my way not to do them harm (and I find them fascinating / beautiful in many cases), and some of them - the jumping variety in particular - seem perfectly content to take rides on my hand. 1 "It uses the faculty of what you call imagination. Troblems 5,617 August 17, 2014 Share August 17, 2014 Animals always come to me, whether I want them to or not. I adore big dogs, but little dogs and cats tend to get on my nerves. Most of the time though, I welcome the attention. My husband, on the other hand doesn't seem to have the animal attraction I do. He gets kinda jelly sometimes. 2 I got an extra hour in the ballpit
