Skittles would continue to nod and smile "That is exactly what I think, if a pony is kind to animals, then you know they are more than likely will be kind to other ponies" she then listens to what he says about how she could go about meeting Twilight "ah right, well thank you for the advice, Honey Dew" she'd say to him.

Her ears would then perk up when he mentioned he spent time with the orphans and gave his best honey to them, "Oh wow, well, I could say the same about you being kind" she would say to him "It is really nice to know that the little ones have a pony like you who looks out for them and genuinely wants to spend time with them"

She smiles at his question "What do I do? Other than helping animals? I like to sit under the big tree in the park and read, I also like to go to the arcade to play some of the games there, they're lots of fun, though sometimes the noise and flashing lights does get to me"

The fish would hit him and a stunned look would appear in Light's face.

As shark eats the fish on him, he'd blush a bit, but soon accept that that's the way she does it, and go along it.

Shark would proceed to ask about Light being silent, and would wake from his depressed state, he was reminded that he also has a partner that worries about him.

" Sorry about that... It's just that I don't feel hungry for some reason, even though I haven't eaten for quite a long while now... Especially when I lost my dark armor implanted on me..."

" I hope it's just a side effect that won't last long... Sorry for making you worry. " He'd then proceed to kiss Shark and give her a hug. Which vanished Light's fears and worries.

He'd proceed to finish his meal and wipe of some of the mess in his face and Sharks face with a tissue... Then his curiosity kicked in.

" Is it alright I cleaned you with a tissue or do you prefer me to lick you clean Sweetie?" He asked.

"Before I answer, I would like to thank you for giving us the chance, to respond, and explain things, Mister Uddo.

As for answers, I would also like to clear one thing, first and foremost: It were not any of them, who asked silence of Omen. It was my decision. I made her promise to keep certain things to herself, and yes, had I thought of how things might have gone, I would likely have asked her to hold back several more things. As she never breaks a promise, I know that if she makes it, she would keep it to herself, despite her honesty.

Yet there were good reasons for this, and I wish to make my case.

The older longma listened, though he was beginning to loosen the stern look on his face. Hiding information was one thing, but it seemed like everyone present was in agreement that not mentioning things was meant to protect. Whether it was out of fear or for more sensical reasons, there was a consensus that everyone had their reasons, and how Uddo would react to it, knowing about the viewpoints of ponies and longma alike were aligned, was a part of this concern. Still, hiding information about who Omen’s master is was a point of contention, but compared to everything else, it might not be such a pressing matter.

What was odd was Omen’s response. Wanting to fit in and understand others wasn’t an issue, but wanting to change to fit some kind of ideal state… it was unexpected, but given the oddities already surrounding her, it wasn’t too off-brand.  The older longma sat there and thought it through, but the siblings watched, nervous and worried that what they said wasn’t enough.

On 2022-06-25 at 5:58 AM, Blitz Boom said:

"I have been in your world, for a long time, I think? I remember being new here. It were different. But the looks are the same.

I still do not understand it. Feelings are strange. That is why I want to be a pony. Maybe then, I would understand them? Make them stay?"

“Kiba? Shade? Come and sit at the table. Let me tell you all something.”

The younger longma and the umbra silently joined the others at the table, returning to their seats and prepared to listen. Likewise, Sen and Lin looked to Uddo and wondered if they’d be made an example again, with very little going their way.

“There are dangers to hiding information, and it may be your undoing if it were hidden from the wrong folk, but you need to worry. I understand why you did what you did. Wanting to fit in, and living in Equestria, surrounded by other creatures different from me, wasn’t always easy, but changing yourself to fit in with someone else’s expectations will only leave you worrying, too busy to look at what’s important. I was there once when I started out, and no one would give me the time of day because I looked so different. Same thing happened when I first met Shade, and it was worse for him because everyone saw the possibility of another King Sombra. I guess I took him in and helped him out because I saw a bit of myself in his situation. Not everyone will accept him, but we do what we can to make things less difficult for him.”

“Others reacting with caution and fear is expected, but that isn’t your fault. Emotions are difficult, and we can only do so much to help you understand it, Miss Omen. I don’t know if there is a way to help you experience them the way we do, but you have good friends here. I’m sure they could help you however they could.”

“I guess what I’m trying to say here is that you can’t always predict how others would see you, but what’s important is how you respond. You said your piece and stood your ground. Not everyone can be accepting, but it’s up to you give others the chance to understand, and that is more that can be said for most. As for us, it’ll take time to fully understand what we learned from you, but we will try because we can. So, how about we start over? Just as you offered to explain your friend to us, we’ll try to also have answers to your questions.”

"You mean... you aren't..."

Uddo responded with a gesture, showing he wasn’t angry even though he looked like he was one outburst away from losing it. Right now, he was much more understanding and calm, and the tension in the air loosened. Everyone could relax and resume with their meals, with the older longma passing some tossed salad to Omen, Rosa, and the younger longma siblings. There was time to learn from each other, and it was certain Kiba had something in mind. Taking a page from what his father just explained, he'd take this time to ask.

"Miss Omen, you and your fellow, umm... 'Ki'nathar...' You don't turn out the same once you have your masters, right? Do they all go to good homes and grow up well? The way you mentioned you wished to understand feelings makes it sound like you didn't get a chance to experience them. It sort of says something if your master didn't teach you that."

He'd blush up a little, as she said her piece, about his perceived kindness in this. While it were true, he were not one to embrace flattery, with much in the way of dignity, and finesse.

"They do of course have the ah, head mistress as well, but I do what I can, to make sure she and Olive, aren't alone about it. The little ones deserve to be happy, and have some good, positive experiences when they grow up.

I ah... Yes, I suppose I can say. I was a foster foal myself, so I know what they're going through. Especially for those of us that ah, never gets adopted, or worse, s-sent back, it can seem bleak."

He'd have a brief, less than nice memory, of the second scenario. One where he had been sent back, to where he had been, after his parents died. It were a hard one to swallow, when you thought that somepony were caring about you, and began to put your trust, and affection to them. Just to be sent back again, because they didn't feel like they were ready, or in his case, because they learned they had a foal on their own on the way, and only ever wanted to have one in the first place.

Sometimes, it made him feel sick to his stomach, and it had taken a long, long time for him, to put trust into others like that, once more. But he were doing better, and he found that making sure others in his situation, were given somepony they knew they could count on, and who'd not toss them aside, were helping him cope with things better as well. Just like Sister August had made sure to tell him, many a time: There were somepony who cared, and that was the most important thing in the world. And as she had been there for him, so too, would he be there for these foals. And if the time came, when the orphanage were empty, and the doors would close? He and the others, would close it with a smile, knowing that all who needed it, had gotten loving, well deserving homes. Always were the option to go and help in Canterlot afterwards, or one of the others.

Personally, he had thoughts of going to the one, on the Troy/Equestria border. The fighting between their two nations, sadly left a fair few foals, griffon chicks, etc. behind. They could likely use all the help they could get.

"A-Anyway, I'm happy to be a pony they know they can trust, and call for, if they need me. Even after they get adopted. Just in case, yes?"

The conversation turned away some, but to pleasant, calm activities. And the arcade. Less fun and calm, but well, it had its charms regardless.

"We make sure to bring the orphans to the arcade, every now and again. They like it, and it helps them socialize with the other foals, outside of school. There's ah, sadly some parents, who won't let their foals play with the orphans, despite our best efforts to help. The parents rarely go to the arcade though, so it is a bit of a safe haven, even when they can't play a lot of the games. Though they should be able to soon. The orphanage got a ah, rather sizable donation after we returned from our trip yesterday, with the stipulation, that it's to be used for the foals entertainment, and well being. Used correctly, they should be entertained for a long time, thankfully. Ms. Scarcity, is a very kind mare, to do so for them."

The mare had not been shy about them saying her name, if asked who had provided for the foals. Not all wished it to be known, but he supposed, with all the things she did contribute to, she did not mind the added reputation. And of course, there were some tax write-offs, to a certain extend, but in his opinion, that did not matter. It benefitted the foals, and were a kind gesture, regardless of the taxes that could be saved. That she had a small incentive, did not take away from her actions. which she had been thanked thoroughly for.

"I ah, must admit though, that I am not one who reads a lot, outside. Though I do go to the park sometimes. Mostly just walking around the paths, enjoying the sounds and smells. It's a little slice of nature, but ah, without the danger of the Everfree Forest. I tend to read back home, if I do though. Mostly history. What ah, kind of topics do you like to read about?"

@Kujamih

Shark would hug back, once Light hugged her. More forcefully though. She didn't know the extend of her own strength, nor that these were supposed to be gentle, and not bone-creakingly tight.

She didn't understand what he were on about though, beyond him not being hungry, which could be for many reasons. Maybe he had eaten too much recently? Or had some bad food, and had lost the want? She had that too sometimes, back in the day, if she ate a bad fish. Or if she accidentally ate a jellyfish. Yucky things. Bad, bad!

As he would begin to use the tissue, to clear food off of Shark's face, she'd giggle, as this felt funny. It reminded her a bit, of swimming around near the sea gras, and have that slide against her scaley face. She liked doing that, every once in a while. Maybe she could see the ocean again someday, and go try that once more? Could be she'd run into some old friends too. They'd be pretty surprised seeing her like this, that were for sure.

"Huh? Lick clean? Hmmm..."

"Please don't. I think that might get a little weird for others here."

"Hehehe."

Shark would feel in a funny mood, and would lean in to Light, where'd the proceed to lick him from the left cheek, to the right, with a big grin on her face.

"Hehe. My mate, all okay, yes?"

If he wanted to try and lick her, he could go ahead. She'd taste pretty much like pony, but with a slightly fishy aftertaste. She'd also giggle from the sensation.

If he didn't though, that were fine too. Others were already looking anyway. Wasn't like he could make it much worse, unless he did something crazy.

As for why he weren't feeling hunger... Maybe he wasn't exactly a pony? Maybe he had some aspects of a changeling, and he were feeding off of her enormous amount of love, joy, and affection? It were hard to say. Seemed even he were not certain, right now. But answers would hopefully come eventually, before he'd end up with health issues.

@-Solstice-

"Dread will be here, in about a week, she said. As for your friend here... You'll see."

He had not silenced Alluria before, to blurt out the secret himself. It would come to light in time, but for now, he would let it be. Magnolia would come to understand in time.

"I... I just n-need to speak with him... P-Please understand."

She'd refer to her husband, as she were still at this point, unable to do so by herself, as he were a soul, and she could nt communicate directly with him.

"Then let's go. The chamber should be ready by now. All of you, follow."

Soul would lead the way, out of the library, and further up, into the tower. The next floor, would not be halted at either, and the closed door, did not say much, of what were behind it. The third floor though, they would halt, and Soul would push open a large oaken door, riddled from top to bottom, in miniscule, pulsating runes. Nothing recent either. These doors looked old, despite being well kept.

Inside, they'd find a large chamber, with barren walls, plastered in more runes. Near the walls in every corner, were a floating stone tablet, slightly wandering around the room, as they were attuned to always face north, east, south, and west.

In the middle, would float a large platform, about a half meter above the ground. And in the middle of that, would sit a pony. Grey like a colorless movie, from top to bottom, and sitting in a meditative position. IN front of her, a pot of steaming tea, and two wooden cups, but she made no motion to touch them. Just waiting, motionless and smiling. As for her cutie mark, beneath the still, straightened hair? A hand mirror.

"Vessel."

"Great, great nephew. Long have it been, and I see you have grown. I take it my possession, fell in your favor?"

It should be noted, that her eyes remained closed, as the surprisingly raspy voice emanated from the mare. It sounded like it belonged to someone, far older, than the one they were gazing at.

"Your poison haven't killed me, Spectra. But enough of this. We need the vessel."

"This I see. I will let you have her, yet after, we will speak, in private. There are things to discuss."

A pale light would shine around the mare, and then, a wisp would float out, and place itself away from the mare, now slumping over slightly. A sight that made Zeehva take a step forward, but Soul would halt her with a hoof, in front of her.

"Don't bother. Spirit Walker is an expert of astral projection. She's sometimes gone for weeks at a time, but she leaves her body open, for visitors. On this platform, any soul can possess her, or share in her energy, and manifest. It's the second option, we're looking to get done, with the soul we're escorting.

And don't try and meddle with the runes. They're needed to keep the room perfectly attuned. If even one of them gets damaged, the whole thing will no longer function.

When you're ready, Zeehva, step forward, and let the ghost do the rest. Alluria is explaining it to him now."

There'd be a bit of time for questions, if Magnolia had any. If not, then the moment would soon be here. Although, Soul would leave the room for it. This were not his moment to intrude on. Nor were it Magnolia's, and he'd ask for her to wait outside with her, while the two of them had their talk. Close or not, some things, were best spoken in privacy. She'd get her chance, soon enough.

And if she said no, Zeehva would ask her to please go out. At least for a few minutes, since she had something important to speak with her husband about, and she didn't want others to see her break down right now.

Rosa did not show it much on the outside, but he'd feel deeply relieved on the inside, as he watched, and heard, what Uddo would end up responding with. His body language, were as important as the aid word, as there were a difference between acceptance of things now, and feigned tolerance. The clues thus far, seemed to go towards the former, yet there were always the chance of things going poorly, as this were less of a situation of full acceptance, and more of a tentative decision, to try and see eye to eye. It would be preferable still, to withhold Discord's name from the conversation, until they had learned more of who she were as an individual. What they had heard thus far, were much, but were they then in this state, to hear his name brought up... It might be too much, in such a short period of time.

Regardless, it appeared that there were a path forward, and they could all sit down, and speak this out like rational adults. Which definitely, were the preferred way for these things to go, in his opinion.

The conversation would move over to Omen now however, and thus, he would sit, and observe closely what would happen. Kiba and Uddo especially, as Omen quite frankly, did not have body language to read. Not in the conventional sense at least.

As for Omen, she would turn her head, to look directly at Kiba, with her unblinking curious gaze, not moving away from his eyes. This were not something she had gone into before, but it were a thing, that her kind did, because back home, that were all they were. Eyes and shadows. As such, they'd experience not just the world through their eyes, but one another too. It were their sense of direction, when speaking to another of their kin, and thus, in the other worlds, at least initially, they'd spend a lot of their talks, starring straight at who they spoke with. Omen had never been taught to halt that practice, and thus, she maintained it.

"When they come, we go to them. Anyone with magic, draws us in. We tell them, in all the languages we have been learned, until they understand, that we want to serve. To go with them.

Our masters pick the one they want, but we do not go, if Mother do not like them. She says, she wants us to go to good homes, so she only accepts masters, with good in their hearts. Except for -"

Omen let out a brief noise, that were sounding like a mixture of mad cackling, gurgles, and something slowly raking down the listeners own brain, threatening to peel away part of their sanity.

"Mother said she let her go, because she was scared. That the things that visited, were too dangerous. I saw her once since. I think she were okay? She had grown big."

Sen and Lin, might remember this, as the tentacle monster, from the reality of madness, that had struck out, and taken away the magical apparition, of their former enemy. The Ki'nathar in question though, were in fact, doing okay. Thriving in fact, as she had stood behind, and watched master take in that offering, from Mother. As one of the few Ki'nathar, with more than six eyes, she had never had many interested in her, but when her own master had poked around the veil between worlds, and found her home realm? She had been the first to go, and when Mother asked the others to stay back, with a fearful voice, she had remained there, transfixing her twenty-seven eyes, upon the magnificence, of her imminent master.

Mother had not been in a position to say no, when the being had reached a tentacle down, and interacted with one, not just willing to serve, but eager to learn more of their world. So with a pained expression, she had told the creature what to do, and soon after, the thing her child would become, had been made, and passed through the veil. Far off, to a world of curious creatures, dangerous, by the sheer power they had, yet rarely with malice in mind. Simple things such as good or evil, were beyond them. They mostly interacted with other worlds, through said worlds reaching out to them, and them then responding out of curiosity, or just by them being curious themselves. Reality were a fascinating thing to study, although their subjects, rarely thought fondly of their ways. Cause to them, most creatures were but things, to study, and experiment with, as if they were nothing more than lifeless puppets. They couldn't connect enough to show empathy, when the divide, were between gods, and bacteria, essentially.

Regardless, Mother had worked hard to ensure they they did not randomly get to their realm again, though there were a pathway there, between her daughter, and her. That link, could be used, by either side.

"Our masters make us look, like they want us to. My master wanted me to look like a pony. And I learned, many things. Not much I can still use. Things were different back then. Now, things are strange.

...Master never taught me about emotions. He said we would get to it some day. Until they took him away, when he sent me to give a letter. Came back to things being weird, and I could not feel him anymore. I asked the ponies, but they did not like master. They did not answer my questions. They threw things, shouted strange words. I did not understand, so I went back home. Stayed there much time, waiting for master to return. Would have stayed, if Mother did not say, I had to learn to live without him.

It is hard to understand things alone. They are helping me to understand now. They have taught me many things."

She'd refer to Rosa and the others, as she said this. Rosa in this case, wondering if perhaps this were getting dangerously close, to where the longma could guess, who it were that Omen were speaking about. If they knew the year, they definitely would. Same with Omen's age. Considering she admitted, that she had found her master now, it wouldn't be hard to narrow down, from a short list of millennia old immortals, and then go by one, who'd live in a strange world.

"We are trying our best. I for one, am attempting to teacher about regular norms, and translating things for her, that seems too complicated. Which is important, as if she overloads, she will stand utterly still, while her brain processes information. Something which can take hours, if not potentially days, where she is not aware of her surroundings."

"Many big words."

"I am telling them, that you need your time to think, Omen."

"Okay."

"Lin for example then, are trying to teach her how to read, and write. Which considering have only been for one lesson thus far, she did remarkably well. She has a knack for teaching, as I'd put it."

Skittles would nod and listened, quite surprised but pleasantly so at Honey Dew's humbleness and humility when accepting her compliment about him being kind. She'd listen to him talk about those who were either unadopted or returned and saw him frown, she'd frown as well "It's quite sad that some foals don't get adopted or are returned" she'd tell him, "I wasn't a foster foal myself, but I was at Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, which was a boarding school, and I rarely got to see my parents except for holidays or special occasions" she'd say, "Not quite the same though, I suppose", she would go to give him a hug.

After a bit and the topic turned to lighter subjects, "Yeah, I tend to try to go to the arcade when there's not many others there" she'd say and then smile at the mention of Ms Scarcity, "Oh I know miss Scarcity, she is one of my clients" she'd say "Bluey here is hers" she'd say, pointing to a Blue Heeler "She also does give donations to Fluttershy's cottage" she nods and listens "I like reading in the park, because I feel so relaxed when I'm surrounded by nature, but..given my talent, I guess it makes sense" she'd say to him and nod "But I can understand wanting to read indoors too...as for topics I like to read about, it's a mix or history, fantasy and self help"

Well, Rising shouldn't have been too surprised.  Harrowmark sure was in the express lane in making sure this celebration was happening at neck break speed.  The detective has only had a day of rest since that battle.  Even then, was his rest invaded by the goddess of this realm.  The whole country was throwing their weight around to get this underway so quickly.  Still, a memo of the agenda the family would be experiencing would have been appreciated.  But that's applying Equestrian logic.  Rising would just need to steel himself.  Relax and enjoy the ride.  Or rollercoaster.

Thistle was finally brought up.  It appears her lack of attendance didn't bar the need to see her later.  Which appeared to be their next objective.  All well and good, but for the room suddenly got tense.  Lily was now at the forefront of the Queen, and for that matter the whole court.  The family remained respectful and silent.  Rising needed to see this play out.  The sentence of Death in this land had a far different meaning than it did in Equestria and Lily knew this was coming, she had expressed so to Rising before when the news broke of Twisted's fall.

Luckily it was cut short by the arrival of the Prince.  Well dressed for their fashion to Dawn and Grace's opinion.  Although, Rising was more interested in the myriad of spells that coated the Prince's suit.  The stallion lived in a gilded cage.  The detective doubting he had all that much freedom even in his own land.  That didn't intel an army's worth of guard or the equivalent of a protective bubble's worth of protection spells that a battering ram couldn't harm.  Not that Rising could blame the Queen, given the circumstances.  Her slip of expression couldn't escape the detective, but her iron will remained steadfast.

Now they have a new guide, with remarkable permission from the Queen, judging by Hayworth's worried expression.  Further trust in her son?  The fall of Twisted?  In the company of their savior?  A curious step out of the norm it appears, but a welcome one to have be escorted around by a band of armor ringing music.

The Prince's intentions were clear to the twins.  Rising bowed first before the Queen, "By your leave, Your Majesty.  We look forward to meeting again at the celebration."  His family followed suit with their own bows, "Your Majesty.  Your Majesty.  Your Majesty," the remaining three said together.  Lifting from their bows, the family moved to indicated door, ready to follow Necrotic to their next destination, "We're ready, Your Highness," Rising said, knowing that at least in the throne room, using Narcotic's name so freely wasn't appropriate in front of the Queen.

Light would brave up and challenge the situation. What kind of a stallion would he be if he gets embarrassed by lick cleaning his mate.

He would slowly and nervously do it, the taste didn't bother him since he is more focused on a lot of things. This would be the first time he licked another affectionately.

" T-this is how shark and I share out bond! It might be weird, but it ain't for us... Gulp..." He then noticed the taste slowly creep in his tongue.

"... Um sweetie? Is your body able to handle meat? I mean you are half pony. And that fish taste is quite... Strong in the mouth." Light said while trying to hold out from puking from the taste.

TWILIGHT SPARKLE

"I'm here too," Twilight confirmed to Last as she studied the directions in the letter and compared it to their map. They had to go along the path into the dark forest and follow it for quite some time until they hear the sounds of bat ponies chittering away. "Follow the path ... go through the forest ... it doesn't say how long we have to be walking for so it could be quite some time. Drone, right?" she asked, looking up at the Manetid. "Do you think you can keep flying for however long we're walking for? I know Cherish is fine with the floating but I don't know how long she can keep it up either."

DAZZLE GLEAM

"I didn't exactly get trained for isolation tactics," Dazzle shook her head with a chuckle. "I mean, yes, I was on my own with my parents out near the desert but no. Dad didn't train me. Most likely because of mum not wanting me to be too draconic. I do hope Scarcity does find information about my parents though."

AURORA LIGHTS

Aurora shook her head at the magical prod and took a couple of deep breaths to recover. "Disdain. If I have any it's not to you, Queen Onache. It's to myself for turning out to look similar to my despised birth mother," Aurora told Onache, ignoring what was going on around her in favour of focusing solely on the queen. "I'm still the same Aurora you met before, I'm just going through some massive changes that I'm figuring out as I go along. Happy can give you a report of what we did with the task you set us with so ... yeah."

KARMIC FATE & ATZY

"Nah, I'm fine leaving the stuff here. I'm more interested in what you have to say about explosives and kablamos and zips and zaps," Atzy chuckled, watching the filly hug Enzo's leg. "Careful Enzo. You might end up with another chatty pony on your back."

"Since when are you and I chatty?" Karmic asked in confusion.

"Since we first met him," Atzy replied as she went over to Blitz. Karmic glanced into the workshop and didn't see anything of interest before heading back to the trio.

“I do what I can for Omen because I want to help, even if I can’t really teach her the big words. We may not be able to give her exactly what she wants, but we’ll settle for the next best thing. All this is to make sure she can make her way in the world all while we figure it out together, one step at a time.”

“That’s good, and from the way you speak of each other, Miss Omen is lucky to have all of you looking out for her. You may have plenty of friends, but good ones are hard to come by, and even rarer are the ones whose bonds will last a lifetime.”

Sen and Lin were feeling much better now that they can speak more freely, though they’d still watch what information they would disclose to Uddo and Kiba. Not everything needs to be bared out in the open. Right now, the hosts are enamored by Omen’s story, how she and her fellows came to be. It was still a little strange to hear about how Omen’s mother would let her children go instead of raising them herself, but to Kiba, something seemed missing. Pieces of the story don’t seem to add up unless he dug further. And there was also the selection process. How are masters chosen, and what makes them potentially good homes?

Though there were more questions in his mind, he didn’t want to turn this into an interrogation, not when this was a moment to share a meal and a bit of themselves without judgment. Perhaps he could narrow it down to just one more to avoid putting Omen in an uncomfortable spot. Of course, some odd things are just unavoidable, like the sound of Omen’s gurgling and cackling, something that could’ve let a headache, which was apparently a name. One could only imagine how Sen, Lin, and Rosa could put up with the strangeness.

“I don’t want to make this conversation too one-sided, Miss Omen, but I have one more question. Could you or your siblings choose new masters or leave the one who took you in if they didn’t turn out to be good?”

In the meantime, Uddo would finish up the last of the soup and clean up some of the empty dishes on the table. There was still a fair amount left to eat, but those could just as easily be saved for another day. After all, they had plenty to eat and just as as plenty were left. Then again, he’d leave some food on the table in case anyone still wanted to eat. Shade was also helping him out, transforming from his amorphous shadow form into a fairly average-looking grey unicorn stallion. He’d first start with the dirty pots, moving them along to the sink but held off from cleaning. It wouldn’t be right to give mixed signals based on his actions.

Likewise, Uddo only did so to make some space on the table. While Kiba was engrossed in his conversation with Omen, the older longma took this time to strike up another conversation with the thestral.

“Rosa, I’m not sure if we talked about this earlier today, but I believe you mentioned you moved to Old Canterlot. If I may ask, where were you originally from?”

"It's quite sad that some foals don't get adopted or are returned" she'd tell him, "I wasn't a foster foal myself, but I was at Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, which was a boarding school, and I rarely got to see my parents except for holidays or special occasions" she'd say, "Not quite the same though, I suppose", she would go to give him a hug.

"O-Oh uhm... Thank you."

Honey were not used to being hugged by random adults like this, and thus, fumbled a little with his words, as well as his hooves getting a little shaky, as he partook in the hug, as one normally did. And no, he did not count when that odd half-zebra doctor, or Pinkie Pie, embraced him. Those were very... Energetic variants, to put it kindly. Thankfully this were not, or he might have dropped the cameras.

"Your experiences are ah, not the same as that of a foster foal. Especially not for those, who knew their parents, and thus had to accept the loss of them, while still keeping their memories. But ah, that does not mean, that your experience are that far off, relatively speaking. It still includes some ah, degrees of... Longing for kin, yes. Friends are one thing, but family is... It is important, yes. I am ah, sorry that you had to have distance to yours, and hope it is better now."

He'd long wondered what it might've been, to have trusty, stable parents, or even what Skittles had. But such were not in the cards for him. Beyond a few stints being adopted for a period of time, and then returned, he had grown up in the foster home, and not gotten out, until he had become an adult. Not that things were all bad. Sister August had been akin to a mother to him, and he made sure, that every year, he'd make the trip, and bring flowers to her gravesite. Caused some friction now and again, with one of her grandfoals, but they had mostly worked out their ah, differences on things.

"I ah, forgot we had a local of that name too. I should ah, specify, yes.

This Scarcity, is an antique store owner in Canterlot. She said she were visiting family, and felt saddened, as she saw the orphanage, and thus wanted to contribute. She ah, are hard to miss. It isn't as if locals tend to wear silver shoes, or sapphires on a necklace. Not ah, not on the regular, no.

The local Miss Scarcity though, is a lovely mare too. I ah, sometimes see her, at the market.

Your ah, reading topics? They're ah, good choices. A wide variety of useful, and entertaining topics, yes.

You mentioned your ah, talent though. Would it be okay if I asked what that is? Mine is simple, yes. I make honey. Well, not make it per se, but ah, I do my part, to keep the bees happy and productive, and leaving plenty of honey still, for them and the larvae."

@Kujamih

Shark would giggle, as he tried to lick her too. Pony tongues were weird, hehe. Tickling.

"Fishy is good. Yummy for healthy sharks. Frog too. Frog is food."

She'd lick her lips, thinking of all the mutant frogs she had eaten. Which were a number ranging in the dozens. She might look somewhat equine, but she were still a shark, and thus not only needed her proteins still, but actively enjoyed eating meat. Anomal had specifically wanted to keep that aspect, as she found the idea of a pony eating meat, pretty hilarious, and figured it'd be too weird, if the creature she were making, had to change her diet entirely.

The fishy taste wasn't because of anything wrong, trying to pass out through her pores. It was because she ate a fair bit, and hadn't had a proper shower yet, nor knew of the importance of washing her face with soap. So the fish taste on her face, would come primarily from her meals. He should just be happy that she had been diving in the water beneath the school, and gotten the worst of it off, whilst taking that swim. Otherwise, she might have tasted of frog goo, and swamp matter too. Well washed up, she'd taste more akin to a pony, with an odd ocean perfume.

Although, her tail would always taste of fish, due to it being a wholesale shark tail, regardless of her main body being more outside ponified.

"Maybe she just needs to brush her teeth, and use some soap, if she tastes a bit odd?"

"Sooo-aaaap. Soap. Bruuu-ssssh. Brush. Soap and brush... Brush for pony hair, but what is soap? Is soap food?"

She'd lean down, and chomp through the rest of her fish and salad, in a rather feral manner, as per usual. Though at least no more parts would be slapping around. And the audience? Well, they'd certainly gain attention, but no one were currently approaching them. They'd likely get some whispers and rumors though, as time went on.

@-Solstice-

When the door got closed, leaving the mare and the vessel, in there with the diseased husband, Alluria would manifest next to the others.

"I take it the husband knows what to do then?"

"Yes, though considering what else he told me, and I saw, I still think your rude interruption earlier, were uncalled for."

Soul would lean back against the wall, resting himself slightly, though his eye did not leave Alluria.

"It's a personal thing. Let her decide when to tell it.

And you, Magnolia? Good that you respect her need for privacy. Her situation isn't easy. I suppose it says something good about you, that you're giving her the space to deal with it."

"Hmph. The best that one can deal with it. Which speaking of, Magnolia? A word on the concept of astral projection: Leave it to the professionals, and try not to pursuit such things yourself. At least not on your own, and rushing things. Walker is a gifted mare in this manner, but for those who are not able to do it correctly, they could end up cut off completely from their bodies, unable to ever return. And even if done right, the soul is exposed in this way. It can leave you terribly vulnerable.

Please be cautious, if you ever have the urge to pursue this."

Alluria's concern were genuine, as they filled the time, waiting for things to progress inside this room. Hopefully they would be well.

Mother makes sure to tell us, to never hurt another though. So we will not. We protect our masters, with our gates, but we are not allowed to harm others. Even if our masters tells us to.

"Mother is there for us. Mother cares about us. Trust in Mother, and everything will be good."

This were what she made sure, that they all understood, and heard. It were perhaps a little... Cultish, but they were simple creatures, unable to understand much. They needed simple directions, and structure. Creepy as this may seem for others, she simply tried to give them what she believed they needed, most of all: To trust in her decisions, and to know that she loved them, and cared for them. As best she could, when it came to beings whom didn't understand the concept of love. And sadly, in their half-formed state, not everything they learned, stuck to them. They needed to be whole, to do that, so no matter how much she tried to teach them of emotions, and the heart, it would inevitably vanish. All could be forgotten, as the years turned to millennia, in their dark realm between realms.

If there were nothing else, Omen would begin to just look around. She didn't eat due to hunger, but more for the experience, and to fit in, as she saw others do this. She had done so, and now, wanted to observe some more instead.

Shrimp too, were done eating, but mostly due to being full, and the tension he felt before. Confused, and not getting answers, he would slither up into Lin's mane, and curl up there, to get some rest. Hopefully when he woke up. everything would be okay again.

Rosa would follow, and help with cleaning some things, after dinner. He did not want to be seen as a leech, so helping were a minor, yet fine way to start showing appreciation for their hospitality. And it would allow the others some privacy, to speak about things. He were... Relatively sure, that Omen could handle things now, in conjunction with Lin and Sen, if he were then able to handle what might come from Uddo.

So when the older longma's question came, no matter where they stood at the time, he'd be able to answer it promptly.

"I was born and raised in The Neighterlands. Though I've travelled far and wide in my days, and seen plenty of things."

It wasn't a lie, as the consortium that he were part of, were from a small area, cut off from the regular country, though still technically on their maps, regardless of their independence. There were a fair few bat pony communities there though, so this shouldn't be enough to pinpoint anything, even if Uddo knew of his flowery home country.

"You're from the same village that Sen and Lin were then, yes? Pray tell, what is your opinion, on the elders general view, on being presented with arguments for contacting the outside world?

I know it might seem a little... Out there, but having heard several things, I have considered bringing forth some arguments, as to why being a completely isolated community, could spell disaster. Ranging from marauders, to diseases, they wouldn't have medicine for. As well as of course, the general working of those seeking to relocate dangerous creatures, such as bugbears, to what is assumed uninhabited lands.

I've heard a few opinions thus far. But you've had experience in years. As such, I wonder what your view may be on this, and what you'd think of their general stubbornness levels?

And before you answer: I am not saying they should open their doors for all. Remain isolated if wanting, but I'd argue for them to be at lest known of, that they may be able to call for assistance, if needed. The deer have it much the same. Excluding of course, their more rural, strictly traditional members, yet those communities are dying out slowly."

===============================================================

@Rising Dusk

Prince Necrotic would wait to speak further, until they had left the royal hall, and the door had closed shut before speaking further. Starting off, by letting out a small sigh of relief.

"I am terribly sorry, for what I am certain were a... Mixed reception, judging what what I could see. Mother is fair, yet the people want accountability, for all the things that have happened to them. Without the option to see Twisted hung in the main square, there are calls for actions in other areas. One being his apprentice.

Mother have done the best she can, with what is readily available to her. I am certain Ms. Monkshade understands, yet I hope to make you understand, where mother needs to stand in this. She is still the queen, and thus, have her responsibilities."

"I was halfway expected to be hung along the rest. I'll take what wins I can get."

"A healthy attitude. And please, do not worry about the gallows presenting issues to your celebration, Mr. Dusk. Or should I say, Sir Dusk? A marvelous thing, to have you knighted, and to think what the order is then called. Aah, a certain degree of humorous coincidence there.

Regardless, to return to the topic, the bodies of those most vile, of Twisted's chosen loyalists, will be nothing but smoldering ash, by the time things begin. The bodies must be burned after all, to avoid unfortunate rising scenarios in town."

It would likely be odd for the Equestrians, to be told this, seeing how executions weren't a thing in their countries. But then, the atrocities these high loyalists had done, were inconceivable to them too., They had not been forced, but had openly supported every move by Twisted, and gained his favor, by being the most cruel, vile things one could have the misfortune of meeting. Their crimes were substantial, and for the survivors, there were a call for justice, for what had been done to them, their families, and friends.

"Maybe not speak so openly about it. From what I have seen, I don't think Equestria deals with executions a lot."

"In fairness, Ms. Monkshade, neither do we. This is the first legitimate execution, in over 140 years. It is not a sentence to issue lightly after all."

As he'd move along, they'd pass large halls, filled with servants, busy cleaning up, and putting new flowers in the large vases. All of them, would at the sight of their guests, turn and bow deeply. First to the prince, then Rising, then the others. The prince for his part, would nod to them all in turn, with a smile on his face. They showed him respect, as were common practice, and he in turn, would then acknowledge their motion.

"Before we meet the priestess though, I actually have some questions. The first being to you. Ms. Monkshade. Were you present, when Twisted took my brother?"

"No. Nor were I, when he began his *work*. I couldn't stomach it, though the sound traveled far."

"My brother... Did he suffer?"

The jovial mask of the prince waned slightly, as he halted, and looked towards the witch, with sorrowful eyes. He knew the answer, yet still, he hoped he were wrong. The look of Lily looking away though, answered him, before she even opened her mouth.

"I wish I could say no... But suffering were often his point."

"I... I see. Thank you for your honesty."

He'd look away, sorrowful, as he recited a mumbling prayer, towards his brothers soul. Though a vague hope, he prayed that he at least now, resided with Viz'nay, and found the peace that the monster denied him.

He'd close his eyes, and take a few deep breaths, letting the emotions roll through him... And then, as his eyes opened, the presentation were as it should be once more. A kind smile, and a trusting, warm gaze towards his guests.

"Perhaps less... Heavy topics, for our other guests. Might I ask, before we reach the high priestess, what thus far, your impressions are of our country? And please, fear not being honest. I can understand some differences are to be, and not all will be well looked upon. Yet in discourse, there is still much to learn. So please, fear not retaliation, or to insult us. I wish to know your honest opinions, and through that, perhaps learn some more of who you are. I would be most pleased to get to know more in fact.

As such, if you wish to say something regarding your own home, then feel free to do so too. I can imagine it being a wonderfully bright place, judging by the vibrant ponies, I have the distinct pleasure to be accompanying."

"I can keep floating forever, a-actually. Unless something weird happens. Just uhm, gotta make sure I don't accidentally bump into you."

"Krthxxhx. I can fly, from sun rise, to sun down. Weak blood, have long since been cut from the swarm."

"Judging by the stories, she's not lying. They've gotten stronger over the generations, so we had to be too."

Made sense really. Weak blood wouldn't live to return, and thus, only the strong would help the next generations to be made, and to thrive. Same for the Shrine Maidens, even though the fervor of the ones of old, were no less than that of Last, or the others like her.

"Hrrlktxt. But I will wander with you. The princess gives leniency. These ponies does not know me. They will attack."

"The argument holds merit, your majesty. But it is your decision. How would you like us to proceed?"

No matter her decision, all three of them would follow them. They were here to accommodate the princess in her decisions, as she'd get to her wander down the path inside the forest, lighted by magic baubles on sticks, after a certain point, due to the crowns getting so thick, that not a lot of natural light came through. It would be so, even at the natural town they'd eventually run into, where all homes were made into the still living trees, making for an obvious forest community. The few spots where natural light came through, were either not directed at any home, or were shaded away. Bat ponies after all.

@Sekel

In an almost fated amount of timing, the door would open as the question were asked, to show the return of Stare. Now carrying a letter with her, and looking apologetically around the room.

"I hope I'm not interrupting?"

"No no, not at all. In fact, we were just talking about you. Crazy timing, heh. Did you get anything?"

"Yes actually. Sort of."

Stare would enter the room, and close the door behind her. Then she'd present the letter to Dazzle, with the name *Dazzle*, in her sisters flowing hoofwriting.

The letter would start with a greeting, then inform her that an associate who owed her a favor, had gone to have a look, and see what he could find. He had gone this morning, but it would likely be a few days at the earliest, before he'd return with answers. There would also be an open invitation, to join her at the inn, if she ever felt so inclined, and a promise that she made sure to tell her friend, where it were that she stayed for now, so he knew where to go with news, when he came back.

"Things take time, I suppose, but it is the beginning of something. That's at least a development."

===============================================================

@Sekel

Onache would look to Happy to get a report on what had happened here. His response were basically a shrug of the shoulders, before baselining it.

"We went to see King Thorax. Seems alright. Anyway, she got the munchies big time, and gorged on some royal jelly. She had a growth burst after."

"You consumed royal jelly, in copious enough amounts for this? You're fortunate then. Even the ones hatched as future queens cannot simply do this normally. It would kill them. I imagine Thorax in his limited knowledge of the crown, did not know this fact. You are fortunate, that you apparently are one of the lucky few, who can survive the rapid expansion in magic and mass, or we would not currently be speaking.

And in case you wonder: The magic is why you have more mass. Us changelings are primarily magic entities. Remember that, if you are notified of an anti-magic zone, as that would kill you to enter.

Did anything else of note occur, Happy?"

Happy would scratch the back of his head. This one were gonna be weird.

"Well, we ran into another changeling variant. Called themselves Gemlings. They got gems fused into the holes in their bodies, and their queen is uh... Well, she's a sort of crystal deer shape, growing around a changeling queen. They're apparently in some sorta symbiotic relationship, and are seeking allies. Asked to connect with you as well, once I mentioned you."

Onache would blink twice, slowly. Then she'd turn, and look at Aurora, gazing as if to ask *What is he talking about?*. Seemed she'd need another to verify this. Which to be fair, were reasonable, as the gemlings sounded like some sorta tall tale, the way they were talked about right now.

@Sekel

"Yey, sounds like we can go then. Can we mistah? Pleeeease?"

Blitz locked the door, carrying what little stuff she figured were important or dangerous, of the stuff remaining, in a thick potato sack. Yet as she talked, she'd look up at Enzo, with big, excited eyes.

The sphinx in turn, would smirk, before lifting the little filly up to his face. So strange it still were, to be faced with such... Innocent glee and joy. Especially towards one such as him.

" I suppose it could not hurt. The princess can wait her turn, for the time being."

Under an even bigger *Yeeeeey* sound, Blitz would be returned to the back of Enzo, up to the others, and the young sphinx woumd spread his wings, taking to the skies once more. He'd listen to what direction Blitz said, and then fly towards it.

Were she an indicator of things, he wanted to see this brother of hers, that she spoke so highly off. As well as see these oddly named golems, he apparently made.

Blitz in turn, would rush over, and hug her kitty pals. Atzy first, then Karmic. She seemed to full enjoy their new, high flying adventures, as they'd set their sights towards Deltrot.

"Oooh, this will be so fun, new friends! Big bro is very friendly. Though sometimes, mares hit him. A lot of sometimes. He says it's cause he says dumb things to them, and that's why it's okay.

You ever been to Deltrot before? It's pretty there. There's lots of boats, and creatures there. The harbor is so cool. Fun place to explore, and see all the strange things from everywhere in and out of Equestria. I saw some funny porcelaine cats the last time. Hehe, lid had fallen off, and shown lots of stuff.

The town is fun too, but big bro doesn't let me go alone there. He says he's afraid I get lost. He'll let me go to the scrapyard though.

*gasp* You ever been to a scrapyard??? It's the bestest place ever!!! There's so many good parts for making stuff, just thrown out. I get so many springs there! Springs are great. They can be used in lots and lots of stuff."

She were rambling a bit, but they'd see, that that was just how she were. Energy for four fillies, caught in one, and bursting to get out.

Skittles would listen and nod "That is true, well, it is nice that you give these foals some hope for the future" she'd say with a smile, then nodding "Oooh that Ms Scarcity" she giggles, "Yes, I remember her, vaguely, I believe my parents took me into her shop before I went to school, as they love collecting antiques" she'd nod, "She is indeed a generous mare" she then begins to love on the dogs, who seemed to be getting a bit anxious to continue walking.

"I like to think that reading is important, especially self help, as self improvement is important to me" she smiles and nods "Oh yes, my talent, well you know how Fluttershy can sort of understand animals? It's like that, but I can clearly understand them, like communicate with them, and I can also use my magic to heal them, given their injuries or illness aren't grave"

“Your Mother sounds like she is very loving, though I am wondering why she doesn’t teach you right or wrong herself. I mean, she makes sure you and her young go to good homes to be taught well. Even if she cannot make you whole, she must know enough to give you a good start, right? Sen? Lin? Might you know of this?”

Though the siblings have been around Mother for a good while to know she is a very loving and caring figure, there is still plenty that is unknown to them. They could say she is a powerful magic-user, as Lin could attest, but beyond that, there is a blank spot in their knowledge of her. Even now they couldn’t really answer, as this was something they didn’t consider asking Mother, possibly out of respect for what she does. Either that or it just never crossed their minds before, but even if Kiba’s question might be a sensible one, asking Mother about it directly might come off as insensitive.

“We… don’t have the answers you’re looking for, Kiba. I guess you can say only she knows why she does what she does for her children.”

“Maybe it is as Omen says. Her Mother knows what’s best for them, and what’s best could be to go to homes and masters who can provide her children what she could not.”

“I see…” One could not help but imagine the disappointment in the young longma’s voice, though he did not fault anyone present. He just thought he could learn about her some more, perhaps gain insight to better understand the oddities that were par for the course for Omen. Maybe there might be something to it if he could extrapolate some details from Omen’s explanations. Or perhaps simply being odd was all there was to the Ki’nathar, and nothing more needs to be understood. Though there was something to what Rosa and Lin said about teaching Omen…

“You know, this may not be much, Miss Omen, but would you like some books? I’ve got a few that I used when I first learned how to read. I was planning on donating to the local library’s yearly book drive for young readers, but that’s still several months away. Maybe you might want some of them?”

In the meantime, Uddo and Shade genuinely appreciated getting help from Rosa. Despite having a large feast for dinner, they were able to start cleaning up much sooner than expected, with some leftovers for the family to eat for the next few days. The moongrown fruits are definitely something the longma wants to save for a while, but he now knows where to find them. Now, there’s some time to talk about other matters while Kiba was engaged in conversation with the others, though it was approaching some old and difficult topics.

“I don’t know much about The Neighterlands. It must be a nice place if they have to include ‘the’ in its name.”

“About your question, though… I didn’t come from the same village Sen and Lin grew up in. Their father grew up in a different village, the same one where I came from. And as for the elders and the longma’s isolation? They’ve got the right to be stubborn about it. It’s all they ever knew, and I can’t blame them if they want to stay that way; they’ve got no reason to want otherwise. If you want a solution to a problem you didn’t know existed, the other villages might know something, and the elders convene every now and again to share that knowledge. To them, if they can find the answers among themselves, then that’s good enough. They would need a very good reason to reconsider, like a problem that none of them ever thought they’d encounter.”

“Now if they or the longma start turning on each other, that’s a different story. I left that life behind because they turned their backs on a good friend. I don’t know exactly what they did, but learning about what happened felt like losing a leg, and I didn’t even get the whole story because nobody would talk about it. They’ve got the right to be stubborn, but if that stubbornness will be their undoing, then leave them to their fate like the deer you mentioned.”

There was anger in Uddo’s voice, nothing approaching an explosive outburst, but it seethed and simmered under his breath. He seemed to have a fair bit of insight into the elders, but their more traditional and isolationist views meant they didn’t have the perspective of an outsider group, the kind that could have saved his friend and Sen’s and Lin’s father. That, and bias clouded the older longma’s perception of the elders and the longma in general.

“Why the interest in the longma? Are you planning on going to the elders and talking to them? That’s a fool’s errand unless you are already friendly with an elder. Because of how much they want to remain hidden and isolated, I doubt any elder would want to vouch for you and your ideas.”

Charir again would have rather went with Leviathan than stayed with Ruby, but what can you do, at least he knew she would be back. Ruby could tell this to be the case, his discomfort didn't go unnoticed by her, and weirdly enough she felt slightly...hurt by it, she liked it when she was feared but this was different, she couldn't put her claw on why it was different, but she could tell it was.

Charir tilted his head at Leviathan's bringings, sniffing them curiously, he didn't recognize any smells, partly because they mixed together, and wasn't fully certain if these were something one could actually consume.

"I've never understood the fascination with mixing random things together." Ruby stated nonchalantly "Let's find a table" she was partly considering to just seduce someone enough to make them give their table, but decided against it and instead looked for an empty table, which she would eventually spot and lead the others to. Charir, as to be expected at this point, took a spot that was closer to Leviathan than Ruby. "Honestly, this will be a new experience for me too, haven't had that much soda and such, as I've mainly eaten and drunk these things when specifically offered." 'to blend in' was more accurate way to say it but obviously she wasn't going to say that out loud here.

---------------------------------------------------------------

It was weird to have his head grabbed like that, but Scarecrow didn't try to stop it, he had no reason to, it was actually almost nice to have someone trust him enough to come so close.

"Sure" he responded to the suggestion to follow, he hadn't come this far to just turn around now, he looked at Lyriel "Are you comfortable coming or would you rather stay outside?" he asked, from sounds of it there would be lot of dead things in the place, and he wasn't sure how Lyriel would feel about it.

Regardless of Lyriel's answer, when they would eventually start moving, he would again speak. "Few things you should know before we do anything, first, as stated, I have no idea how I ended up like this, or even how long I have been like this, my memory is....inefficient, things blend together." "Second, Crow has nothing to do with my current state, it is a creation of a draconequus, and while my sense of time for it has already faded, it joining me wasn't that long ago." "Third, my skull is seemingly indestructible, it is yet to receive as much as a scratch, so it's probably where I, as in, the assumed soul, is in."

--------------------------------------------

"Sure, there would be more to entertain and more willing creatures to tell their stories, but it would also be lot less personal, there's a reason why I always got to taverns and other small places instead of big stages." "If I had to choose between performing for a group, or to just one crying foal, I'd choose the latter without hesitation." "I rather play to a weary traveler on a campfire than a group of rich fans." "If I wanted to be famous, I would have never left my community, there I was very popular, if not the most popular of all entertainers." "There I had everything, yet I left with only my hat, instrument and bit of food and water." it wasn't the first time she had been asked about it, so she had a slight feeling for the reason Onache asked it, thus she covered everything "There's also the matter of personal life, I like to keep it that way, personal, I don't need creatures following me around trying to get pictures of and tell around about every action I take."

None of the others got the feeling of being watched, as they were more focused on Chega, but, Sear and the twins were on guard in general, Sear because there was a potential threat towards Chega, that being the killer, and the siblings because, well, they were always on guard, that's how they were still alive.

"Soap is not food, it's .... It's a substitute for a tongue, I guess? It's used for cleaning. its a soft rock that once wet, becomes really really slippery." Light suggested to her.

"After we eat, we should go clean ourselves so you can see how we use this soap."

It wasn't what the family was expecting.  Well, none of it really was, especially looking in on it from the view of an Equestrian.  Mixed reception was putting it in a way.  Rising expected it more than the rest of the family, having already had a similar discussion with Lily about her return.  And the possibly equal fate that might be awaiting Willow as well.  A simple tale to the down fall of a tyrant wouldn't be enough to the oppressed, they wanted blood, finality.  Not that it'd be all that likely they'd be sated with Rising or Thistle's story.

"Equestria hasn't conducted an execution in over a thousand years.  Not under Princess Celestia's rule, but even long before her rein, the act is still considered ancient," the professor explained.  "The harshest punishment in Equestria is imprisonment.  I various forms, tailored to the individual as needed."  "Prison.  Turned to stone.  Sent to Tartarus.  Banished to the Moon.  Those last three are rather extreme and used rarely.  We believe in the reform method.  Everypony in Equestria has use and value, they always have a chance to walk the right path, given time.  Even then, crime in Equestria is often just petty," Dawn offered up a little insight into Equestria's form of punishment.  A little naïve?   Maybe, but it works for them.

The family remained silent while the Prince and Lily had their somber moment.  It was a sad topic and the family could infer through their tone the bases of the past.  Rising had a deeper understanding.  He'd seen just the surface of Twisted's work.  The insidious magics that plagued his swamp.  Had his brother been one of the creatures he encountered?  The dark begin in the shed?  Or even one of the many souls he released when dismantling Twisted's work and returning the power back to the goddess of light?  Hard to say.

"From what I've seen thus far, you have a beautiful castle.  Full of history and mystic," Grace spoke up.  An odd inquiry to ask so quickly upon their arrival, considering their limited view so far.  "Ho ho ho.  A delightful place with such a well kept library.  Far telling of a country that pays such honor to their arts in all forms.  Still taken aback from the grandeur of the royal hall itself.  Very tense and oozes a solidarity and steadfast atmosphere," Star pipped up.  "My experience is somewhat mixed," Rising was honest to say the least, his introduction to Harrowmark being less that hospitable.  "But it has its charms," the detective concluded.  "Well I think it's a marvelous place.  Regal.  Could use a little color though," Dawn added as they walked the dreary halls.  "Not to dance around the topic, but the culture exchange between our lands will not be swift.  Necrotic magics aren't viewed in the most positive of lights in Equestria," the detective spoke true again.

"About us you say?  Well, my fine lad," Star stroked his mustache, having got more comfortable around the Prince.  Easy enough for the professor.  "I'm a Professor, teacher in our land to clarify.  I teach the magic of language, ho ho ho.  My darling wife here is also a teacher.  Retired aerial dancer, your Highness.  Now I teach the art to future generations.  Quite right, quite right!  Talented mare she is, most talented!  My lovely daughter here is a... is a... what is it you do again my dear?" the stallion was stumped.  "A Broker, father dearest.  I arrange and negotiate between two entities.  Be they creature or businesses, your Highness"  Dawn explained.  A cheery way of saying she controls resources and allocates them at her whim.  Only Rising knew the true extent.  "Ah yes.  A marvelous use of her charm and wit to smooth over business agreements, ho ho ho!  And the newly appointed Dusk Knight, ho ho ho!  In our land, he is an officer of the law.  Defender of the innocent and vex upon the unsightly villainies!  Detective of the Office of Magical Investigations.  I mainly deal in magic based crimes," Rising expanded upon.

"I ah, can see how she could be. I inquired about the prices of her wares. They were rather ah, high end. Quite out of my price range, but I suppose, some things should be catered to a more high end clientele."

Quite frankly, most of the prices she had listed, would cost him several years worth of wages. And while yes, she had things in a more... Moderate price range, those were minor things, mostly there to allow for the privilege that most saw it were, to have something purchased from her store, without going into massive debt.

You did get quality for the price too. She used only licensed refurbish, and restoration workers, to ensure that damaged antiques, would come to shine again, to ensure they would be authentically handled. There were certificated to all of her wares as well, proving authenticity. And if there were ever an issue, with one finding that she had carried a ware, which were not authentic, she had a return policy, where she'd refund every single bit, though that had yet to come into play. Wasn't easy to, when nothing had so far been seemed to be incorrect. A part of why her reputation were as stellar as it were.

Another angle, were her numerous donations in both important, historical artwork, and straight up bit donations, to various projects, and good causes. Most tax deductible, but what did it matter, if the cause were still good?

"I like to think that reading is important, especially self help, as self improvement is important to me" she smiles and nods "Oh yes, my talent, well you know how Fluttershy can sort of understand animals? It's like that, but I can clearly understand them, like communicate with them, and I can also use my magic to heal them, given their injuries or illness aren't grave"

This caused Honey to raise an eyebrow up. He did not think she were lying, as that seemed an odd thing to lie about. It were more that he were surprised, and curious, about such a strange gift.

"Translator, and healing skills? Quite the ah, beast master, one could say. Could I ask, what constitutes an animal, in that way? Are bees included? It could be interesting, to hear what they think of the ah, conditions, in my garden. They don't sting me, so I am thinking they like it, but one can always be curious, yes?"

Insects were not technically animals, so it were hard to say, if they counted. Couldn't hurt to ask though, no? Though speaking of asking, he could see that her dogs might want to get moving again soon, judging by their previous reaction to things.

"Also, perhaps the dogs would like to walk a little again? I can ah, always meet you later, maybe?"

@Kujamih

Seeing how a few were starting to listening in, due to the oddness of the strange pair, the comment he made at the end, made a few snicker. As well as cause Bubble to blush slightly. He were used to hearing talk somewhat like this, as he worked at the spa after all, and others cleaning others, were very normal. But seeing where they were, and the reaction of others, did make him a little bit more embarrassed, for some reason.

"Wet rock for clean... Pony world is strange. Shark have small fishy, that keeps clean. They help, so we not eat them."

The small fishies got even more from it, since the small things they ate off of them, were food for them, so lots of wins for them. And made a lot more sense, than what she had been told, that soap were. She'd need to see this cleaning stone, with her own two eyes, and see what it could do. And if it really wasn't food. Seemed ponies found some weird things to be food, so maybe he were wrong, and it were food for her?

"...Maybe we should continue the tour, before you two start getting more attention. Though something tells me, that the rumor mill is going to run hot."

"Miiii-ll. Mill... Hehe, funny word. Miiiiiill."

She'd say it a few more times, giggling as she did. She were done eating, so all down to when Light felt ready. Though soon as he'd rise up, she'd make sure to go over, and try something new. She'd flutter above him, wrap her legs around his torso, and try to lift him up. Which is he were at normal pony weight, she could, though not very far. About 20 cm roughly, before he'd start slipping.

"Hmm... Pony heavy to lift. Must train legs."

Why? Well, why not, right? There'd be reasons she could give, for wanting to be able to fly away with a pony. Reasons not involving dinner.

@-Solstice-

"Hmphm. Not many choose death."

He didn't say more, but just waited. Ten minutes passing more, before his ear perked, and Alluria too, seemed to gaze towards the room.

"I thought it'd be longer, before he'd make a motion to move on... Curious."

The door would creak open after that, though neither of the two, made any motion to do anything.

"This isn't for us. Go."

He'd look towards Magnolia as he said this, and nod towards the door. She should get the hint.

Inside the room, Zeehva laid on the floor, crying profoundly, whilst the vessel in front of her, were still sitting in a meditative state. Yet behind Zeehva, much in the same position, the ghost had been in, when he had been shown at first, were her husband. Embodied by energy, siphoned off from the vessel - visible by a link of pale magic - embracing his yet living wife, with his front hooves gathered on her stomach, and whispering things into her left ear. The room also gave off a strange feeling. A faint sense of finality, that weren't there before.

"It's time."

Zeehva would slowly nod, and on shaky hooves, get back up. If Magnolia tried to touch her, she'd wince as if whipped, and would walk to the edge of the room, her head bowed low, in silence, whilst the tears kept streaming down. If she didn't, the mare would remain where she were, whereas the ghost, would come over to Magnolia, and put a hoof on her shoulder. It would feel much like with Alluria, though a little more firm.

"She's a great mare, right? Smart, beautiful... I knew I was way out of my league, when pursuing her, but I just couldn't imagine life without her. I only wish that our time hadn't been cut so short, but... I don't belong here. And I can't linger, just to watch out for them. It hurts her too much.

Heh. But then again, she doesn't need me to watch out for them anymore, do they? They got you now."

The ghost would turn, and give Magnolia a big, impish grin, showing off a glimmer of the adventurous, lively zebra, that he had once been.

"Thank you, for giving her a reason to smile again. Make sure to treat them right, yeah?"

A pale glow would go around him, and he'd slowly raise upwards, at which point, Zeehva would turn, to look at him. He would float down again, embracing her closely, and gaze lovingly into her red, puffy eyes.

"I'll see you on the other side, my light."

With that, he'd plant a kiss on her forehead. The string of energy to the vessel, would then flicker out, and he'd slowly dissipate, into a swarm of small butterflies, flying upwards, and vanishing about two meters further up.

And then, the room would fall silent... The only sound, being that of Zeehva sobbing, and slumping back to the ground, where she'd hold her hooves against her eyes, shaking slightly. The first touch she'd feel, she'd break completely though, and howl in pained cries, with all the force her lungs could muster. She could not hold this back anymore.

"Mother tells us, to be good children. To learn, and listen, and never do harm. We do not know why, she does not say much more. Maybe I can ask her?"

There were no guarantee, that Mother would answer currently, but she could try, if it were. And if not now, then later. Now she were curious herself, and would like answers. Answers that only Mother had.

Rosa would interject, if she offered to take them there though. He would for one, like to meet this Mother in person, but this were a shaky start, with Uddo and Kiba. Whatever form Mother had, would be best saved for never, or at least, far later on. As for her form, he assumed she were something akin to the unformed one. A glob of eyes, and ever changing shapes, roaming around the landscape, mostly unseen. He had learned dreadfully little, from what minute things, he had heard thus far.

On 2022-07-02 at 4:00 PM, EQ_Theta said:

“We… don’t have the answers you’re looking for, Kiba. I guess you can say only she knows why she does what she does for her children.”

“Maybe it is as Omen says. Her Mother knows what’s best for them, and what’s best could be to go to homes and masters who can provide her children what she could not.”

“I see…”

"If Mother do not have time, maybe Master knows. I can ask him, when he calls me next time?"

Discord had not been there long, but he had been talked to, by Mother, and had lived for a long, long time. Maybe he would have some idea, what happened. He too, were a creator after all. Perhaps, it were something that creators understood, better than her? It were worth trying, she would imagine.

"Maybe you can ask Mother too, some day? She likes Sen and Lin. She would listen, if she have time. Sometimes, she need to rest. Especially when she makes new siblings. We ask her why, or how she makes us, but she says it is not important, that we know. Just that she needs time, because it is hard for her. Sometimes, she just do not answer."

There were a lot of questions about Mother, that only she could answer. So if they wanted those answers, Sen and Lin, would have to travel there, and speak with the old creature, and see if perhaps, she would be honest with them.

"I have wondered about the details, of what happened back then too. Yet I see that the past pains Sen and Lin. Things showing once, that makes me see they have some deep scars on the soul, that I cannot bring myself, to open up again..."

The forest had shown him..: Things. Nothing good, just as Lin had not shown him a good thing either, with the things that had manifested for her. Then there were what little they had told of their parents, and the way they looked and sounded, when it were brought up... It were clear to him, that they were not over it. How could they, realistically speaking? Regardless, the fact were that he did not want to be the one, to bring them pain like this. And so, curious as he were, he'd keep his questions for himself, and see if things would unfold in the future. It were the kindest thing he could do.

"To return to the matter of the villages... I do have the ear of an elder, yes. Though he is young, and seemingly inexperienced. I would think his word, would not carry as much weight, as some of the longer standing members of the council. Yet it is a hoof in, and I will do what I can, to as respectfully as possible, present a case, as to why they should at least let themselves be acknowledged to the outside world, and why trying to build relations, are a good thing.

My current plan, is to present what good can come, and what bad will happen, if they refuse to even let themselves be known of. Including having no protection from slavery, as they could be equipped with special collars, leaving them unable to communicate. Unknown about, they could be played off, as merely exotic animal pets. And while they'd likely argue, that is reason to not encounter the outsiders, the fact remains that eventually, they will be found. It is not a matter of if. It is a matter of when. And when that happens, things can go very bad, very quickly, if they are unprepared for it.

As such, I will also propose that they would run a trial of sorts. There are three groups of natural beings, they could encounter, that would respect their ways, and how they interact with nature. All three, can in their own way, also help them, to grow and expand, due to nature magic. Speaking with Sen and Lin, I would suggest strongly, that a Dryad perhaps be allowed near them. They are solitary, or live in small groups, and do all they can, to help nature thrive. Very warming and kind too, to those who are friends of nature, and if rampaging beasts or the like, becomes and issue, they are able to help calm them, and could in that way, help. They're also proficient, at making plants grow, which would help your kind with expansion of food storages, materials for building, and eventually, something in excess, to trade with the outside with.

I am painfully aware, that I will not be able to sway them at first. This will be a long, odious process. What I hope to establish at the first meeting, is the sincerity of my suggestions, and establishing, that I only have their best interest at heart, with nothing expected in exchange. If they do not have me banished from their villages, after the first meeting, I will consider it a success.

To that end, I am aiming to learn as much culture as I can, so that I can approach them, with the proper kind of respect, that is required. I can imagine, that showing a willingness to learn, and curiosity about the culture, will prove I am dedicated, to make connections, on their playing field, by their rules.

Who knows? Perhaps my words will not make a great impact, on the older generation. But youth will eventually come to take over, and it could be then, that further down the line, I will yet have sown the seeds of change. That sounds a worthwhile endeavor.

...To return to less... Positive things though, I am sorry, for what happened to your friend. Even if I am not sure what the details are, and will not pry, I cannot imagine it being easy for any of you. Praise be, that you and your family at least, managed to get on your hooves."

Necrotic nodded slowly, as he heard their opinions, as well as how things were from where they came. It were not the same culture, and likely, their degree of crime were different in turn too, yet he were open, and receptive to hearing what it were like, where they came from. He were not a traditionalist, to the point of not being willing to hear out, and potentially embrace something, which would be beneficial to their own culture.

Furthermore, this were a nation which may be far away, but had come to their aid, in their hour of need. At the very least, he believed they should listen, and learn of their savior, and his country. Not condemn it from the start, for being different, or disagreeing with how Harrowmark worked.

"Reform... I like the sound of that. Although the practice now made use of, have not been done in as I said, over a century, the longer back I read in our history, the more I find it being prominent. And much of it, I have read thoroughly, as mother is somewhat reluctant, to let me leave castle grounds.

Harrowmark is a land of death, but I question why it must be part of our punishments in anything but the most heinous of travesties, instead of solely our culture. Your ideals sounds wiser, in the vast majority of cases. Find what good is in one, and work to make that more prominent, sounds like a good way to deal with many offenders.

Sadly, some are not able to be reformed. At least here, some things cannot be forgiven. The ones who are currently being faced with the consequences of their actions, have been behind dozens, to sometimes hundreds of macabre, unspeakable ends, of Harrowish lives. I will spare you the details, but there is good reason behind the outrage, from the citizenry.

It is a...  Delicate balance, between ideals, and being just, to those who have been harmed."

The burden of royalty, which he felt as an increasing weight, looming in his future, that he were uncertain if he could carry. He did not have his mother's iron will, though the citizenry still looked upon him favorably. Yet what would that matter, if he ascended the throne, and failed them then? What if he began leading them astray, or did not have the conviction to uphold their traditions properly, or even show that in the face of adversary, he would stand firm? There were many worries for him, and although he were raised as the heir, and thus were tutored and prepared as much as possible, to be ready to ascend the throne one day, he could not help, but to be uncertain if he were the king, which his country would need.

Still, he would try, when his mother one day decided that it were time. A time which may come sooner than expected, now that a new dawn, finally broke on the horizon. He did not know, as mother always held the cards close to her chest. Yet when the time came, he would do his best, and in his opinion, trying to move them forward now, would be a good thing. And as a nation that had seemingly moved far past them, he believed there were much to learn from Equestria. Although some of their punishments seemed... Peculiar.

"I do not wish to linger upon capital punishment, if you are uncomfortable answering it, but might I ask, what the reason is behind you turning others to stone, and by what means, you would set one upon the moon itself? I am also not familiar with this *Tartarus*, you mention. Is it a large prison of yours?"

As for the history, it is vast, and with much sadness and joy, in its tale. Even have some hidden rooms, that have not been explored for countless years. One of them being, where the cocoons of the sacred moths, had been put in stasis. The high priestess were most thrilled to learn, that they had still evaded Twisted's scrutinizing eyes.

Now then, Mr. Echo? The castle were build in a time, where it had need to be imposing, and especially the throne room, needed to be a place, where the first royals, made clear they were in control. Tradition have kept us from changing much, as have a severe lack of resources to try, in recent centuries. I assure you though, that with the right lighting, and a little work, it will shine presentably once more, without losing what make it as is.

In regards to the library, I am certain that Marshall will be delighted to hear your praise. Only the most dedicated, becomes head librarian, and he takes well placed pride, in performing his function with bravur. Both in the public, the royal, and the hidden library. Though in general, it should be said that despite Twisted's efforts to erase much of our history, that didn't suit him, history is too valuable, for us to have accepted that. Harrowmark have a rich culture, and history, and we like being well informed of both. It is simply a delight now, that such can be done openly, and without fear of retaliation.

Sir Dusk, I will return to you in but a moment, as your remark were twofold, but it shall not be long.

Now then, Miss Dawn? I can only agree with you, that brightening up our halls, would do wonders. Harrowmark have long faced a dark age, but with a new day forthcoming, it is my hope, that not only these halls, but our country in full, will come to bloom. I for one, would think a good start, would be some more windows, and rely less on magic lights, over the natural light of the sun.

But of course, a mare of your caliber, would be more aware of what works than me. I hope to not step out of line when I say this, but to me, you have the look of a mare, who knows not only how to brighten a room, with your radiant presence, but also in what manners it might show itself at its best, in general. Your style is most delightful."

Outlandish perhaps, but certainly something which drew the eye, whilst also being in a way, that made sense for Harrowmark. She had taken in well, what he assumed were Lily, giving them some pointers, of how folks normally dressed in Harrowmark. It made him wonder what she would look, had she been given a green light to show herself in full though. Perhaps one day, he would have the privilege, of seeing so himself.

"And then, we come back to you, Sir Dusk. And might I start off by saying, that your view being mixed, are nothing but understandable. You have seen the worst we had to offer, and it cannot help, but to leave a sour taste, that will be hard to erase. I hope that as you see us from our best, and view how we continue to unfold, that you will find that there are more good, than bad to gaze upon.

As for your assertion... It is true, and I would be a fool to deny that there are going to be clashing of culture. Our usage of necrotic magic, seemingly being a large one. Yet it is my hope, that both mother, and your ruler, will be able to come together, and find that whilst our approaches to things may vary wildly, there will be things we have in common, and focus more on that, than our differences.

We are not an unreasonable country, and nor are mother an unreasonable queen. She will defend our culture, if one tries to erase it, but we are not looking to spreading it, to those who will not have it. We will respect your boundaries, your rules, and your culture. All we ask, is that you will do the same. I think such a simple compromise, should not be hard to agree with, between our respective rulers.

And fear not, for any who'd come here. I will make sure that mother will push focus, on offenders not being punished to our standards, but to be sent back, that you may deal with them on your own terms. And to ensure that we will have well marked, where it is safe to be. I make no illusions, that with or without the tyrant, our country is perfectly safe. As such, we must accommodate safety, before much in the way of civilian visitors, can even be considered."

A lot of work there would be, but he trusted in his mother, and that she would do, what were right, whilst ensuring that it were made clear, that they were not going to change. Not to such a degree, where they'd be like Equestria, as sunny as it may be. Though he were sure, they wouldn't try and push something. They seemed like a country of warm, reasonable creatures. For the most part, at least. He were sure they wouldn't be invasive.

On 2022-07-07 at 5:51 AM, Rising Dusk said:

"What delightfully fitting professions you have, my dear friends. Teachers, ensuring the next generation to come, will face the future with knowledge, and skills alike. Important professions, well suited capable ponies, such as yourselves. Someday when there are time, I would very much like to hear more, of how you conduct either. I am certain the contrast to what I have seen here, would be quite educational. Both books and dances of ours, are well rehearsed, but old, so there may be things more beyond just me could learn, in fact.

As for you, Miss. Dawn, I must admit to not thinking you holding that job, were the case, and I do apologize for my assumptions. I thought you a socialite, and designer perhaps. But a broker? A surprising, yet very usable skill to have, especially when diving into a new market, I could imagine. Might I offer to get you in contact with some vendors of ours, as time goes on? We may not have much to spare currently, beyond knowledge, but that could be corrected, if we knew what might hold interest for the outside world, and we would be most intrigued in getting trade begun, with a more advanced country, like yours. Your skills in working as an intermediary, could well speed things along, and save valuable time, already wasted, the past six centuries.

Sir Dusk sure made an impact, and with work such as his, I am not surprised. I am just thankful that your skills in such matters, did not stop at your own borders, Sir Dusk. Your decision to come here, have done more for us, than words could even begin to explain. It is my hope, that when the celebrations are ready, that you will be given a chance to see even a fraction, of how thankful we are for your service."

He made sure to look at them each in turn, as he spoke with them. It were only proper to do so, in his opinion, and it passed the time, as they wandered along. In fact, it would not be long after he said his last, that they would round a corner, and be faced with the high priestess herself. Seemingly, she had wandered to meet them, like spurred on, by the presence of the touched wisp, that Rising had. Even unused as it were now, it were still the presence of her goddess's touch, and as attuned as she were, with Viz'nay, it were only sensible that within a certain distance, she would feel it linger.

She were not much stronger magically, than when Rising last saw her though. Most of the energy, from the souls she had harvested, had been send directly to Viz'nay, to help her become stronger, that she might begin to work with bringing Suusha back to sanity. Yet she had been granted enough, that she were stronger, yet more importantly, had regained her former visage. The one that Rising had seen, when the goddess had shown it to him, in his dream.

A mare the size of Celestia, draped in pale, ceremonial garbs, with a large pair of elegant moth wings on her back, and antenna on her forehead. She wore no glasses, had shoes seemingly made of moonlight, adorning her hooves, and carried herself with a regal aura, befitting of royalty. Her pale eyes fell upon Rising, yet briefly went over the others assembled afterwards. Her main focus first, were him. They would come afterwards.

"𝕊𝕠 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕣𝕖𝕥𝕦𝕣𝕟 𝕒𝕥 𝕝𝕒𝕤𝕥. 𝕋𝕙𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕤𝕖𝕖𝕞 𝕤𝕙𝕠𝕣𝕥𝕖𝕣, 𝕥𝕙𝕒𝕟 𝕀 𝕣𝕖𝕞𝕖𝕞𝕓𝕖𝕣."

"Some things are good, some things are bad. Some things, makes me burp electrically charged bubbles. One time, I were sneezing snow for three hours. I'm thinking I have allergies towards a few things, but regardless, I think of the world as being something, that should be experienced. Comes from my wind side, I suppose. And well, we dragons have a lot of time to fill. Why not try some things, and see where it takes me, and what happens, yeah? Sure some things are bad, but at the same time, never know until I try. And I tend to get more positive experiences, than negative ones."

Leviathan would settle down, and spread the loot over the table they were on, that the others could see, and try some things. And for a start, she'd push the cans with soda, towards the middle, and poked at the chili one.

"That one should be spicy. Cola is rather regular, as are most of these, really. Honey is extra sweet though, and blood orange... I dunno. Might be good? I figure you can pick one, pop it open, and start by taking a sniff, until you find one you like, then try a gulp. I'll pick last.

Also some spicy snacks. Nothing like Dragon Chili, but that ain't for everyone either. Y'know, due to the whole *So hot, that it is a health hazard to non-dragons* thing. Been seeing a few chili eating contests, where they see who can eat the most of one of those though. Utterly hilarious.

Lots of different things here. As said though, I pick last, so try around, and see what might tickle your fancy. Although I'm taking one of these quickly."

She'd grab one of the small bags, and opening it up, to reveal some dark chocolates, in the form of parasprites. She'd nick one of them, and crunch down, feeling a shiver through her.

"Dark chocolate, and thick caramel... Sometimes ponies have the right idea."

She weren't sure why, but caramel? Big fan. probably had something to do originally, by crystallized caramel, looking almost like gems. That drew her in at first. What kept her since though... Maybe she just liked sweet tastes. Weren't like this were her only vice, when it came to snacks, after all. They'd see if she'd stand alone with that. Although, that reminded her.

She'd open one of the bags wide, revealing something very draconic: Caramelized gemstones.

"Dragons only snack. Caramelized gemstones. Not something that's a big seller, but always nice to see it around.

So, anything catches your eyes so far? Dive in, all you like. Heck, empty something, if you do. I can just get more. I have a fair bit of bits to make use of."

She might not hoard traditionally, but that didn't mean, that she didn't still keep gold and riches. She just didn't have as much, as most dragons her age, as she also likes spending. As well as the whole thing, about her collecting differently, most of the time.

@Catpone Cerberus

"Crow joined us five days ago. A draconequui made us unwilling participants, in her game. Crow were his reward for us winning. Mine... Is awaiting approval, it sounded like."

Lyriel had followed, as she did not want to simply abandon her friend, within this town like this. The feeling were... Odd. The ground felt confusing to her. Not in a way that caused her pain, or made her fear for her sanity at this point, but there were a hint of something peculiar to things, as she stepped upon the ground.

That there were death in here, were not what concerned her the most either, just yet. Seeing ponies partake in it so openly, were mighty shocking for her, yet death were a part of nature, just as life were. So she would reserve judgement for now, until she had seen more, and could judge if this place used it in excess, or if there were harmony. At least for the time being, it seemed tolerable.

"Sounds like a draconequui alright. So this lil' thing... Crow, is a creation then, huh? It a he, or a she?"

Crow would flutter over to a point in front of them, and scribble an answer into the dirt itself. Short and to the point.

"Neither. Use It."

"Well bugger me. Punctuation and everything. Clever bird."

Crow would then open its beak, extend the spider legs, and begin to scurry across the ground, further ahead for a bit. It didn't seem like the disguise were needed, so it could go and explore a bit on its own.

"Or spider... Draconequus, yeah?"

Lyriel nodded, with a tired look upon her face.

"Ain't a dull day today, that's for sure. But getting on point, what you're talking about Crow... I ain't never heard of that personally. Indestructible skull, sounds like your head is some sorta magical foci, maybe? Like, that's where it's all gathered up. The growths... I dunno, something spilling out, from that mess? Honestly, this sounds like the sorta thing we'd need a druid to solve.

I know, I know. They're nature mages. What would they know? Well, I know they use animal skulls, in various ways, like animating creatures. Dunno why one would be in Equestria of all places, but that's my best guess. Might be this would have to be brought by the library. You know how to read?"

As they walked along, Scarecrow would get a fair few looks, but especially from the skeletal guards. It almost seemed, like when he got in radius, they stood ready, to answer a command. Might be they still didn't know what were going on, but no one here seemed hostile so far, and it appeared safe for now. Albeit maybe not the best in his opinion perhaps, due to the attention.

===========================================================

@Catpone Cerberus

"Most of your reasonings seem rather... Peculiar. Yet the want for privacy, is one I find reasonable. Limitations upon one self, due to constant attention, would be draining.

Still, I suppose it is your life, and thus, your decisi-"

Out of seemingly nowhere, a small pellet would impact her face, at rather high speeds. She had not noticed hostility from any entity, so she had not bit notice, in anyone with a want to toss something at her. And in their talk, she had been less than fully focused, on the world around them. Thus, why she had not noticed this one getting near her.

But it were just a pellet. Interrupted her, but not much else, as she wrinkled her nose. Well, if it weren't for the pale-pink powder, that had puffed out, and snuck itself into her nose, before she could react on it. She'd use her magic to push the air out of there, along with what seemed like the odd cloud. Yet something wasn't right, as she began to stagger, almost immediately. Her eyes would roll up, and the whites shown, before she seemingly lost consciousness, and fell to the ground. Once there, she'd lay about, twitching and going through some spasms of her limbs, with froth beginning to show at the edges of her mouth.

Whatever had been in that powder, it appeared she had not gotten all of it out, or had simply been too slow. The others would be safe, speaking to the notion that the powder had gotten inert quickly, or only affected changelings. Though either way, someone had just poisoned Onache. And if they didn't do something, things didn't look good for her.

Skittles would nod "Yes, her prices are for the more..high end clientele, as you said, and despite living in Canterlot, my family are more..middle class" she would say, as she pets some of the dogs and listens "As for what animals count for my talent, any and all.. from domestic like these good dogs here, to wild, and yes, even insects and the such. So, if you'd like I could certainly ask the bees what they think of the conditions, but the fact that they don't sting you, is a good sign already".

She gives each dog a treat and nods "Yes, they are getting a little restless to continue our walk, but how about we meet up at the cafe down the street in say an hour?" she'd ask him with a smile as she'd stand up from hugging the dogs, smiling at him and after his response, would continue her walk.

*An hour later*

Skittles had finished walking the dogs, returned them to their respectful owners and had a little time to freshen up before making her way to the cafe and ordered herself a honey chamomile tea and some cake to enjoy while waiting for Honey Dew to arrive.

" I don't really mind the attention. This way everypony knows that Shark and I belong with each other. I don't wanna sound possessive... But... I don't want any other pony trying to get between the one I love..." He replied to bubble with a calm and serious tone.

Light at first was a bit confused at what is shark up to but never the less still happy with curiosity.

At first Light lets her lift him, but then her legs weren't built for lifting.

" Oh sorry sweetie." Light would activate his cutie mark and becomes light as a feather.

" Is that better now? Why the sudden urge to lift me up?" He questioned with a smile.

" You know usually the stallion carries their mare, but I'm okay with this if you really want to though sweetie... " He said with a bit of confusion but never the less still happy.

" We should follow sir bubbles to where he would guide us next." He said as they flew above.

“Oh… uh, don’t take this the wrong way, but you don’t have to feel pressured about asking your mother that question immediately. I’m sure she values her privacy and wouldn’t want to be disturbed. Same goes for you, Sen and Lin.”

“Are you sure about this, Kiba? It’s no trouble at all.”

“I’m certain. I may be curious, but I’m not desperate for an answer. Maybe someday, when we’re better acquainted with each other, it’ll make things less complicated with meeting your mother and siblings. Would your mother be all right with that, though? Having visitors that didn’t have plans to adopt one of her children coming into her… um, home? After what you told me earlier, it may seem rude to just walk in, and I don't want to make it look like I'm barging in and looking for answers.”

Though Kiba was being reserved and somewhat distant, he only meant to convey his cautiousness. There was a lot that was new, like meeting those who may be considered non-biological cousins, learning about the Ki’Nathar, and Omen’s general oddities, and he would need some time to process all of it. Not all of this was negative, and the things that would’ve put off others from getting to know Omen better were seemingly absent  once he’s able to get used to it. All in all, the young longma’s conversations with this odd group have been positive, and for a moment, the oddities attributed to Omen weren’t there, perhaps adjusting well to this type of environment.

“You… you do? Huh… I didn’t think it was possible for an elder to be more amenable to an outsider, but I guess being a younger elder could have something to do with that. You’re right about the other elders not taking him at his word, though. It’s going to be tough to convince the others when there are plenty of factors going against you.”

The older longma listened well to the thestral’s plans, and a lot of it sounded interesting, maybe even going so far as to win some considerations from the council of elders if they were to give him the benefit of the doubt. A lifetime of self-sufficiency and isolation would cloud their judgments, but ground-level experience may suggest differently if the longma from Ghilan’s village had anything to say. It may help that the first contact with an outsider was Omen, but uncertainty still clouded the air, and her being away from the village with the young siblings may not have given the villagers time to acclimate. Still, first contact was what it was, and there was no room for what-ifs anymore.

“I must say, you know a lot about what you’re talking about. I take it that you’ve traveled a lot in your time? If this plan of yours works, then I’d expect Sen and Lin’s village will become some kind of testing ground for the rest of the villages. All eyes will be on you and them, and the first thing that goes wrong will be enough to show the ways of the outsiders have no place among the longma. Whatever it is you plan to do, make sure it goes right. They’ll be questioning your motives, so I hope you have your answers ready. I fear the consequences will be dire enough that none of you may be allowed back into the village, or forest, ever again.”

...To return to less... Positive things though, I am sorry, for what happened to your friend. Even if I am not sure what the details are, and will not pry, I cannot imagine it being easy for any of you. Praise be, that you and your family at least, managed to get on your hooves."

“Thank you for your kind words, but let’s not delve into past wounds. In case things go wrong, I might have something that can help. The dishes can wait. Come, sit on the couch and let me tell you about that iron fan on display in the living room.”

Uddo pointed to the red iron-ribbed fan on display not too far from them. It seemed like their private conversation wouldn’t stay that way for long because Kiba noticed the gesture. He’d draw Sen, Lin, and Omen from their talk to what could possibly come next for Rosa, as it might be important enough for them to know about it, too. If not, then they’d get an interesting story. Either way, it wouldn’t hurt for their conversation to go into a different direction, especially if might end up being helpful in some way.

Charir was bit unsure about everything that had been brought by Leviathan, he saw they were consumable, since Leviathan ate some, but none of it seemed like food still. Ruby told Leviathan to wait for a moment and started speaking to Charir, and it was a lot that she said, as she first explained the concept of candy and such to him, since they didn't really have that back home, sure they had things that they liked to eat for enjoyment rather than food, but even those were just different types of animal parts.

After that she went through everything on the table and explained the tastes, for some, like honey, it was brief, a simple translation, but for some things, like blood orange, it was a longer explanation because they didn't have an equivalent back home, at least as Ruby knew, she hadn't exactly eaten all of the fruits and such in the homelands, only the ones that tasted closer to what she usually ate.

Leviathan of course wouldn't be able to understand anything Ruby said, but the body language of the two dragons and Ruby pointing at things most likely was enough for her to at least try to guess.

After all that, Charir thought for a minute and decided to try the honey soda, and for snacks he chose some of the hard candies, his reasoning was simple, for the soda, honey was the only taste from the sodas he knew of before the explanation, even though his idea of honey was quite different, since like everything in their land, even bees and honey reflected the almost inhabitable reality of that place, and just the natural toxins alone would have probably killed a pony if they ever ate it. For the candy, it was more practical reason, his mouth, like Ruby's when in her real form, was quite hot, so things like chocolate would have probably melted before he got any real taste out of it, and things like gummies and crisps required chewing for the full experience, and he just wasn't used to eating like that.

It took him a second to figure out the can of soda, but he did eventually understand how it was to be opened, he tried to do it the right way at first, but the anatomy of his fingers and claws made it difficult, so he ended up just poking a hole with his claw on the top where it would have opened if done correctly.

He smelled and tasted everything, pouring a tiny bit of the soda into his mouth and keeping it there until it got warm, which did't take too long, and then doing the same for the hard candies, which dissolved faster than they would for a pony, He didn't have any visible reaction yet, as it took few more tries to get a real feeling.

Ruby meanwhile chose the blood orange soda and Dragon chili, blood orange because it was the one she knew the least about, and because it had blood in its name, she knew it wasn't actual blood, but still. The dragon chili she chose because, well, she liked things that were metallic,  bitter, spicy or otherwise what one could consider unpleasant by common standards, and normal chili did absolutely nothing for her, she was resistant to so many things, some naturally, some through exposure, and whatever caused the burning feeling in chili was one of those things, so she needed something stronger to taste it. She also liked the surprise of everyone when she as a pony did things ponies saw as impressive.

The gemstones didn't get any reaction past slight curiosity from Charir, as their kind didn't eat gems, and Ruby had seen them before.

"I hope you don't expect me to pay you back for these." Ruby stated jokingly

--------------------------------
Scarecrow also nodded to the Draconequus comment, and even without a face his nod had similar tone as Lyriel's

"Yes, my ability to read is one of the things that has remained." he responded, continuing right away "And while all options are good to go through, one thing to mention is that I have most likely turned into this rather than been created like this, if that is what you suggested." "In my imperfect memory there is things I know from time outside my memory, knowledge without a source, and I have memories of my body actively rotting, and knowledge of having felt emotional distress in connection to that."

While usually attention bothered him, and it still felt slightly inconvenient, it didn't bother him nearly as much as it could, partly because it was not fear, but more so due to who, or what it was coming from, to put it bluntly, and maybe bit harshly, attention from fellow abominations didn't bother him as much.

----------------------------------------------------------

The conclusion that the powder got inert fast or was changeling only went un-concluded, as all the others protected themselves from it and thus that was one extra option on why they weren't affected. The siblings used magic to protect their heads, they had been targets of chemical attacks so they weren't new to that, and Sear protected herself and Chega by pulling Chega close and using smoke and heat to keep the possibly contaminated air off of them.

After the dust had settled, quite literally, they all moved to a next thing, Chega and Trox created a magical barrier around the group, and while they did it independently from each other, the barriers quickly fused together, showing the quick cooperation between them without a single word being uttered. Sear took her axe in her hand and started scanning the area, though oddly enough, the moment she touched the weapon, it started to change, the normal stone axe quickly turned to one with the sharp ends glowing yellow like molten rock, hot like molten rock, even moving like molten rock, yet they stayed sharp and solid.

Sheska meanwhile, as to be expected, went to  Onache, cursing at her lack of equipment, though in this case she had another problem too, she knew absolutely nothing about changelings medically, since they no longer existed in her world, and thus there was no material to study from. She quickly came to the conclusion that there wasn't much she could do here, besides two things, she did a spell that basically pushed air out of Onache's system, hoping to get out any powder that hadn't already reached the bloodstream, she then levitated whatever was the nearest source of presumably clean water to her and washed Onache's nose and mouth with it, before making the spell again to make sure she didn't accidentally drown her. If there was no water, latter was skipped.

She then cursed again, commenting about the guard not being there when he was actually needed, and decided they needed to get Onache to the hospital, one of the few places she actually knew where it was since they came from there. She commanded the others to do their part, and they listened, leading to a arrangement where Sear and Chega moved Onache, while Sheska was watching over her and doing her best to slow down the poisoning magically by slowing down her bodily functions, and Trox was providing security in form of a magical barrier that kept anything not specifically allowed through out, he was also scouting for plants he knew to be used in situation like this, but plantlive here was too different to their own world for him to spot anything.

Sheska made a mental note for herself, next thing on the list, get medical supplies and herbs.

"T-The cafe? In an hour? i ah... Yes, certainly. Have a pleasant time until then."

He had been taken by surprise there, for a moment. Sure he sometimes spoke with others again, but a mare inviting him to join her at a cafe? That was a first for him. Not that he assumed this were a date or anything of the like. Celestia no. They just met, that would be an odd thing to even think. It were just the sudden, out of place invitation, that struck him momentarily.

A strange day it would be, yet he needed to get his mind elsewhere for a little bit. He had things to do as well. So after they departed one another, he would move on to the camera store, that he may start having the pictures developed. Should be done by tomorrow, so that was good.

Skittles had finished walking the dogs, returned them to their respectful owners and had a little time to freshen up before making her way to the cafe and ordered herself a honey chamomile tea and some cake to enjoy while waiting for Honey Dew to arrive.

Honey had done a little bit of freshening up too. After he had gotten home, and watered the flowers, he had spent some time, brushing his mane and tail, to make it a little more presentable, as well as polishing his glasses. Wasn't much, but it were still something, yes? An effort. With the amount of time he had, after watering the flowers, it weren't as if he could do much else anyway. Not if he wanted to go around the orphanage first at least, to tell them that the cameras had been delivered, and that he'd come around with the pictures tomorrow. And that was something, he were definitely going to go and do.

So after that, he'd head towards the cafe, and make it there around a minute and a half late. Not ideal, but sadly, things took a little longer than he had expected.

It seemed that she were already there, when he showed up, so he'd go and make himself seen, and then wave a little, to indicate he had seen her too. After that, he'd go and order a cup of blueberry tea, and a wheat bun with raspberry marmelade. You'd think he'd eat more honey, due to his profession, but honestly, he didn't do that a lot. And even when he did, he tended to stay with his own. It just weren't the same, elsewhere.

And speaking of elsewhere, he'd wander over to her table, once his order were met, and wait for it there.

"I ah, am here, I suppose. I guess that's rather obvious. How did your ah, trip with the dogs go? Did they enjoy their walk?"

" I don't really mind the attention. This way everypony knows that Shark and I belong with each other. I don't wanna sound possessive... But... I don't want any other pony trying to get between the one I love..." He replied to bubble with a calm and serious tone.

"I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but I don't really think you have something to fear on that front. She seems pretty possessive of you too."

Case in point, when she tried to lift him, and at first, didn't have much success with it.

On 2022-07-09 at 1:41 AM, Kujamih said:

" Oh sorry sweetie." Light would activate his cutie mark and becomes light as a feather.

" Is that better now? Why the sudden urge to lift me up?" He questioned with a smile.

" You know usually the stallion carries their mare, but I'm okay with this if you really want to though sweetie... " He said with a bit of confusion but never the less still happy.

" We should follow sir bubbles to where he would guide us next." He said as they flew above.

Shark were very surprised, when suddenly, it felt like Light didn't weigh anything. Ponies were strange creatures, but it were pretty neat. Made it easier for her to clamp her legs around him, and begin to fly around with him. And if they didn't have eyes on them before, they certainly had now. Including by the staff, of which a certain mare, were putting her face down into the table, and her hooves over her head. Why could this place not just be normal?

"Hehehe. Can caaaaa-rryyyyy. Carry. Can carry mate now.

Mate ask why? I have wings, mate do not. So I can carry mate places, hehe."

She'd do another round, and Bubbles too, were starting to have a hard time, not breaking out into a large sigh, just begging for this day to be normal. But he kept the mask thus far, and would just awkwardly, start to move out of the room, while the likely weirdest couple in this place, followed him. A pony, carried by a hybrid, with thin, semi-insectoid wings... Yeah, the eyes out here, wouldn't leave them either. Though none seemed to really say anything about it. Although it seemed a certain pair of rascals were nearby, since a shining ball would suddenly show up, and begin to swarm around Shark. Which in turn, also made her swing around three times, and then do a loop, snapping out after the light, with Light still in tow. Probably not the best for him.

"Uhm, Shark? Please stop moving like that. He might not take it well."

The ball would flicker out after that, and the two in question, would not be seen. But they'd definitely be in the room on their left, were a door were creaked open.

"Shiny light."

"It were, but maybe let us focus on the tour? The nurses office is next. Three doors down the left path from here, with the big, red cross on it."

Shark would follow, and with Light still there, unless something happened. As for the office itself, it seemed someone were at the door, inside, so they had to wait.

"I regret our first meeting is upon your passing into the next world - I'll see you there someday. Hopefully then, Zeehva will be beside me and we'll meet within the halls of Elysium. Be well. Heh. Maybe you'll show me around when I get there..."

He gave her a big, impish grin as she said that.

"I'll give you all the grand tour."

This were the only thing he'd say to her, before his farewell with his wife. His time to leave this plane had come, and now, he were off to where he belonged, where a grand new adventure waited for him. And when their time came, he'd have quite a lot to tell them. He just hoped it wouldn't be anytime soon.

On 2022-07-08 at 12:38 AM, Magnolia said:

After the process was completed, Magnolia walked forward to Zeehva's crying form. Hesitantly, she would approach her and embrace her with the warmest of hugs.

Zeehva would howl in pain, and just cry even harder, yet her pain were not physical. It were emotional. Even though she had thought that she had gotten over the worst, of seeing her husband pass away... Seeing him again, and actually being able to say goodbye, did not make it any less painful. It removed a piece of regret, but filled it with overwhelming sorrow, and pain. Especially with what she had recently had to learn.

The door would open, and both Soul and Alluria would enter the room. The former of whom would keep his distance, whilst the latter would get closer, as the howling from Zeehva simmered down to weeping and sobbing uncontrollably. It wasn't possible to get properly in contact with her right now, so she wouldn't react, nor respond, to anything that Magnolia did.

"We always think, that it makes it easier, if we get to say goodbye... It sadly is rarely the case. Especially, since they can't say where it is that they go. No matter how well versed in death they are, even this place, cannot say for sure, where it is, that anyone ends up. I'll pray he goes to Elysium though. He seemed a good stallion."

"Ancestor of mine, Soul Whisper, wrote once, that she believed that if somepony were going to a better place, they'd look calm and at peace, when they went away. I dunno if that's true, but most of us, likes to hope that it is.

She also wrote, what sort of face she believed, those who went to Tartarus had. A lot of fear there."

"Take that, for what it is worth.

...When your friend have cried herself out, we'll get her a room, where she can have some rest. It'll be the best for her and... She'll need the time. Don't think about the tests for now, okay? Be there for her."

It'd be about fifteen minutes, before she'd have cried herself to utter exhaustion, and just passed out.

"Mother did not know Sen and Lin. She allowed them to see her, several times. They have not become masters of any sibling.

Saw others, the last time too. Was strange. Siblings did not move around when they came. Have not seen that before. Not masters, but others. She let them see her too.

I can ask Mother. See what she says. Yes?"

She didn't mean right now, but yet, she could ask at some later point, and find out, if Mother would see a friend of Sen and Lin. She thought yes, but she wasn't entirely sure. Mother were strange sometimes. Sometimes, she refused to meet anyone, but then, she had come with Sen and Lin, and she had let them come and see her, whenever they wanted. Maybe because Lin were a sibling too? Not entirely, but close enough, yes?

Hmm... Were she allowed to say that actually? Rosa had acted strange, whenever she had said things about where she came from before this, and her kin... Maybe this were something, that she were not meant to say? Unless she were asked about it. She had not been barred from saying it, so if asked, she could answer, yes?

"Mother says, it normally takes a long time, for new masters to show. We do not understand time. Not at home. But I do see, many have happened now. Two new sibling happened, before the Sun went away, too many times. Hammond oldest. Other one, I felt somewhere close  Not sure where, but they are in this world too."

Her kind couldn't always feel when a new one had been made, but that one she mentioned, had been within a few hundred miles. She could feel someone new going through, for the first time. A small change, that sadly, wouldn't mean she could just track them now. She could feel a new presence, but that only accounted for the first time. To track them now, she'd need to meet them. Which she likely would, eventually. Either here in this world, or back home.

On 2022-07-09 at 2:45 AM, EQ_Theta said:

"I assumed as much. The traditionalists may listen eventually, but they will be harsh upon even the smallest of things, and blame me for it. What I need to make sure of though, is that this blame, will be placed solely on me. The others should not have to pay, for my ideals and concerns.

*sigh* This is also why I think a dryad is the better one, to introduce them to first. A kind creature, who will work well with their traditions, and will respect the ways of preserving the forest. As well as being able to mend any wounds on the woods as is, and assist them in growing more crops. A beneficial outsider, who are still known to be primarily solitary, and not interested in bustling city life.

What I need still, is to find one. I will need to inquire some places for that, but hopefully, things will progress nicely within a not too long period of time. They're rather reclusive, but there are signs one can track, when it comes to their presence, in a forested area.

My fear really for now, is that it will turn out that they already have neighbors. Specifically, that being the evergrown. They are even more reclusive, living in forests, around their sacred trees, the stories goes. Apparently, they are also making use of magic either from themselves, or the trees, that can make it near impossible to stumble upon their village. Illusory work and the like.  There may well be some in your area, without you being aware, and then just ignoring the longma at every turn, as they do not want to get involved with the outside world further.

As for why? Briefest of history, is that their blood is a hyper fertilizer. Ponies extracted a fair bit of it from them, and caused them to shun society, out of fear for their lives.

I have doubts they're in your area, but a dryad could likely tell for sure. Much will depend on what I am able to find. But regardless, I will still hold good general information, that I hope will be met with begrudging acceptance, in the potential severity.

As for my motives, it is quite simple: Preservation. I should likely get a full fledged bugbear stinger for that actually. They might better understand why I think it urgent they let their place be known, so they do not accidentally end up with their area as a place those things gets chased to. Which are programs happening, to ensure they do not get eradicated, but rather moved to uninhabited areas. You've lived in Equestria for some years now. You may have seen one of them? Or if not, then at least heard them mentioned."

@Catpone Cerberus

It pleased Leviathan to see that eventually, Charir were willing to try some of the things. She frankly were surprised how gentle he still were with the soda can though. Sure he didn't open it normally, but she had halfway expected him to just chomp into the side of it, and let the liquid run into his mouth that way. It seemed Ruby had explained things better to him, than she had expected. At least she thought so. It were hard to say, since she couldn't understand a thing the two were saying to one another. Nor did a few of those walking by, giving them curious looks.

She just utterly ignored them. Their opinions, presence, and interest in this, were fleeting, and wouldn't really matter. Charir's handling of these things, were far more important. And speaking of handling: Since no one seemed to like the crystals, she'd happily crunch them down herself. She honestly hadn't figured they'd try either, but hey, couldn't hurt to try, right?

And in regards to trying, it seemed that Ruby would want to try some dragon chili. She were lucky that Leviathan had some with her already, before they came in here, and had put one of those down on the table. This place certainly wouldn't sell something like that, as that were far too niche, for a primarily equine establishment like this.

The chili in question, were about the length, of a bottle. Gnarled, and colored in red, yellow, and black spots all over, it looked dangerous, eve visually. Which were good, because it certainly was. This were literally able to send a pony to the hospital, with no guarantee of avoiding a fatal outcome, if they were not prepared. There were a reason why even in the chili eating circles, that did use these, the amount had to be miniscule. Most of the time in fact, it were just briefly boiled with the real dish, then removed with a pair of thongs, and disposed off in a sealed container. That being because even touching the surface, were hot for the skin of regular beings. Dragons were more insulated, so they could handle it better. Which considering this were grown exclusively on the dragon isles, were not a big surprise.

As for the taste? This stuff were meant as snacks for fire aligned dragons. It would go from feeling like a roaring fire had started, to the beginning of a volcanic outbreak, in terms of strength. Though for those who could muster it, like dragons, it were more considered something, that had a nice, refreshing kick to it. Something that could really put some pep in your step. Though Leviathan would whisper to Ruby, to watch out when trying this i here. Not only were it not normal for ponies to be able to eat this raw, it could also cause her to spew a small bit of fire, unintentionally. It were best she kept herself in check in regards to that, and made sure to take chunks when there were no eyes upon her.

10 hours ago, Catpone Cerberus said:

"I hope you don't expect me to pay you back for these." Ruby stated jokingly

"If I did, I would've brought a receipt, and a crowbar, heh. This here's on me. Like I've said before, I don't mind spending some of my riches, to get to enjoy things. I value the experiences and comforts, over piles of glistening gold, just sitting and doing nothing on some cave floor.

How're you liking these sorta things so far? Not the usual for Charir at least, so maybe they won't all be winners, but I'm hoping at least something falls in the taste of you two.

Heh. Just look at us three, having a chat over a nice, family meal."

She'd hold a hand on each side of her head, lean her shoulders on the table, and look towards Ruby with a smile on her face, and her tongue out a little. She were just teasing the young dragoness, since to her, it were quite fun to make small comments like this, every now and again. Especially with those, she felt close to, and she were growing more and more attached, to these two.

@Catpone Cerberus

"I was just posing a guess. I know very little about druids too, so I'm just tossing things out there for now. Can't imagine you're a natural undead though, that'd be... Yeah,. pretty weird. I only heard of something like that once, and that was way, way from here. Mentioned in some old book we have, from a place called Harrowmark. But there it says, these things happens, because... Bah, can't remember. Maybe there's something in that though.

There's thousands of years of scripture on death in our library. If whatever's ailing you, aren't in there, then I don't know where it would be."

They'd get the same amount of curios attention, from locals, as well as the skeletons, as they approached the large building, in the middle of town. The main manor, with a large, looming tower, pulsating with pale runes, covering the stonework, towering above it.

As they'd get there though, they'd meet someone.

One looked like a pony in shape. One with a short, flat mane and tail, and carrying armor close to what old Night Guards were seen with, if looking in history books. However, this pony's body, armor, etc, were more or less stripped down to the basics, with large holes showing. As well as some places, where armor and body seemed fused. Despite the holes, one could barely see a skeleton either, nor flesh or vessels. It were as if the pony had been eaten away, whilst being build up as something else, for unknown purposes.

The other were an elderly mare. Her mane were pale-blue, with a single, wide streak of white going from her forehead, to around the center of her back, a little right of the center of her mane, where it ended up tied into a skull that laid on her back. Seemingly a large, avian one, that glowed with a slight, pale flame.

The end of her mane were tied up with skulls of other creatures too, that hung from the side of her head, yet these streaks only went to around her neck in length, and were of smaller sizes than the larger one on her back. They were seemingly of critters of varying kinds, from rat, to eagle, and so forth. And on her forehead, placed in a way that kept other hair from wandering in and blocking her view, were a wide one. From the looks of it, a drake skull, to be exact, with a hole in it for the mare's horn to pass unhindered through. An unusual decoration to say the least, but the mare were in general, unusual.

From head to hooves, she were wearing a darkened black and purple robe, with a large hood hanging down her back. It were not loose though, like you'd see on a cultist, but rather form firm and clearly not just bought from any regular shop. This were custom tailored. And if the form didn't show that enough, the fact that on the right side, it carried a saddlebag that were adorned with a symbol that looked like a scythe with a half-burned, lit candle balancing on top of the blade, should tell you. This were not something regular ponies wandered with. And neither were the scythe that laid folded down her left side.

She looked as if she meant business. From the way she dressed, to the steely gaze in her clear, silvery eyes, this were a mare you did not trifle with. She were also the one to lead the word, towards the oddity, as they approached.

"- and cleaned the last ones out. Even the eggs. You're free now."

"Free from them maybe... But not free to return..."

The oddity sounded depressed. Which the mare seemed ready to say something about, when they both bit notice in the odd group nearing them, and they'd turn their head.

"It seems more will happen today. Stitch? What is going on here?"

"I wouldn't know if I tried.

So, this here's Scarecrow the undead, and Lyriel the dryad. There's also a spider... Bird... Thing, somewhere. Anyway, these two are looking for answers, as to what made Scarecrow. Seems there's no claim on him, and he can't remember anything, beyond rotting, it sounded like. The skeletal guards for some reason, keep bowing before him too, and following his orders.

And from the other side, this here's the current matriarch of the clan, Madamme Macabre. The other one... I dunno. First time I heard her even able to speak. What's your name hon?"

"*sigh* Hawk Eye..."

"Oof, sounds like you have it rough hon. How about once I helped these folks, you come with me? I know a thing or two about living as somepony a little special. We'll see if we can't get you a little shine back in your eyes."

There were a few spores caught in the wind, but they had already done their damage, sadly. But removing them, at least ensured it wouldn't get worse, than it were already on track to be. It'd buy them some precious time, that they'd need, if they were to try and save her.

There would be a bucket of water nearby, that had been dragged up from the well not too long ago, that'd function well for the purpose. And the one who had taken it up, wouldn't do a thing about it, as she had already taken off, running back home. A lot of them would be doing that in fact, as there would be a panic spreading. Whatever were going on, it seemed there were an attacker somewhere, and right now, nopony knew where the one in question were, and if one of them, would be next.

And sadly, the attacker had been sneaky. The pellet were fired off from a long distance, and it appeared that the one who had done so, had either blended into the crowd, were looking on from afar, somewhere hidden, or had left right after making the shot. Either case, it seemed as if this were targeted, towards a specific target, though it would likely not be the last time, something like this would happen. Cause who else might it be that wanted to do this, but the one who had done a horrible crime before, and had seemingly bitten notice in them snooping around? Seemed like whoever it were, were not keen on witnesses, or meddlers.

The water would help to clear Onache's airways, of the worst foam, but more would come. Least the first bit were gone though, and if they placed her right, gravity would help for that foam to run out, instead of piling up, and potentially getting into her lungs, drowning her. Yet they should still hurry. A professional were needed here, instead of any of them.

10 hours ago, Catpone Cerberus said:

There were sadly no medicinal plants in reach of them currently, that they could make use of. There were an elixir shop, about half a block away, but that weren't helping them right now, and there were no guarantee, they had something changeling specific.

As they'd reach towards the hospital though, they may bite notice in someone swooping over them. The night guard, Stargazer, would look down upon them, and point towards the hospital, which he'd then fly towards himself. He'd fly ahead, to warn the doctors. That way, when they arrived, there'd be a squad ready, with a gurney, for them to put Onache on.

One of them, an elderly doctor mare, with her white mane gathered in a bun behind her head, would push up her glasses, and produce a large syringe, with a glowing, goo-like, green substance inside.

"Haul her up, stomach down. Head over the edge. Here's hoping she's like a regular changeling in how these things work..."

She'd inject Onache, first chance she got, right in the middle, of where her wings grew out. A soft spot, they'd allow for easier access, without cracking a lot. And then... Violent shakes would come. The queen were held down with belts and magic, as her body convulsed. They'd keep moving her with haste inside, and barely got to where a large, metal tub were ready, before she'd start spewing out a lot of green liquid from her mouth. Spewing off like a fountain.

"Keep her head in place! And bring me the other vials! We'll need to move quickly here.

You creatures. Out! Medical personel only. We need to concentrate here."

That were towards Chega and the others, who'd be escorted out by the hospital guards, if they didn't start moving on their own. Things did not look good here, with Onache spewing, and going through various colors, whilst her body went through several spasms. Yet they had to try and trust the doctors on this, and if they'd accept going outside, they'd end up being face to face, with not just Stargazer, but also the coastal guard from earlier.

"I got them to move as soon as I heard, that the queen were collapsed in the street. What happened out there?"

As Skittles saw Honey Dew arrive, she'd smile and wave to him, letting him know where she was and waited for him to sit down at her table. After he'd sit down and make his order, she would smile "Yeah, but it's okay, not like I thought you'd stand me up though" she chuckles lightly and brushes her mane out of her face a little "The dogs loved their walks, and were all tuckered out by the time I returned them to their owners" she'd smile "and I got a few tips as well, so that's going into my savings" she smiles "How about you, did you get done what you needed to do?"

Light was surprised and could not react quickly.... Hence he was spun around and got dizzy.

" Wait shark-- aaaaa---- uff...."

Light's eyes would spin around in dizzyness. He would stay silent as he tries to collect himself. Luckily they had to wait, so hopefully shark would stay still or sit down and drop Light for a bit.

I can ask Mother. See what she says. Yes?"

“You really did that, huh? Go into her realm and see what was on the other side? One of these days, you’ll have to tell me about it! And, if it is not too much trouble, please go ahead and ask your Mother, Miss Omen. I understand if it’ll take time, and I am in no rush. Whenever it is comfortable for you to do so.”

“You really are excited by this. Sounds like you want to explore!”

“Yes, but I am a little scared. It’s hard to imagine just what could be on the other side of Miss Omen’s gates, and that fear puts me a little on edge. After what I saw earlier, I may want to curb my enthusiasm a bit. But, maybe we can continue this later? Looks like father and Mr. Rosa are having a serious talk right now.”

For a moment, Kiba was perking up at the thought of being able to see into this otherworldly realm she glimpsed earlier. It was terrifying at first, but maybe there isn’t anything to be afraid of in that place. Knowing Sen and Lin were able to enter it, repeatedly at that, and not come out looking worse for wear, it is probably a safe place. Then again, there was Lin’s odd appearance making her look closer to Omen than her brother, but this difference didn’t seem to make her feel distant. It is probably a sensitive topic that didn’t need to broached for now.

In the meantime, Uddo was bringing Rosa to the couch, where the longma was gathering the others. Seemed like something important was going on if the older longma was using this opportunity to introduce the family’s odd heirloom, one that didn’t originally belong to them. Kiba didn’t know the whole story behind that one, and what he knew boiled down to his father receiving it from someone and not knowing what to do with it. Seemed like the longma knows more about what it is and why this was the perfect time to talk about it.

“The dryads sound like wonderful creatures, the kind that has a serene kind of grace surrounding them. They might fit in well, but I fear for their safety if they aren’t left alone. The longma haven’t run into these ‘evergrown’ since I was still around, and their use of magic wouldn’t sit well with the longma. If someone encountered one, news would spread quickly, and maybe you’d have to play the role of ambassador to ensure no one does anything stupid. The same might not go for bugbears. This is the first time I’m hearing about them, and with the way you make them out to be, they sound very dangerous. Kind of strange how their blood is a fertilizer though… If you’re going to find yourself looking for one or just keeping yourself protected, you may want to hold on this.”

Upon reaching the couch, Uddo grabbed the iron fan on display and revealed a gauntlet below the iron ribs, affixing it to his left foreleg. Other than looking a little too big for himself, it seemed light enough that it wouldn’t impair movement. He gestured everyone to move back a bit, even getting Shade and Kiba to move the table and couches away to open the rest of the iron fan. With a flick of his leg and spinning the opened parts with one free claw, he revealed the the full extent of this item. It wasn’t merely a fan, but a red iron umbrella. The spinning motion was just fast enough to cause the edges to spark and release some tiny embers that flickered to the ground. Kiba was readying himself to grab some bowls with water just in case something were to catch fire.

“It’s called an iron fortress, a tool once passed on to me by this minotaur who stopped a couple of armed thieves from breaking into the shop and making off with whatever they could grab. The bumps, scratches, and burn marks on this thing suggest it’s been used for a very long time… The materials used to make this were strong and built to last; whoever made this thing knew what they were doing. Back then, the minotaur didn’t say much, only that he asked me to hold on to it and pass it on to someone who’ll need it more than me.

“I didn’t know what it meant at the time, but hearing you talk about what you’re about to do, I think it may be time to pass it on, just like he said. I haven’t found myself ever grabbing it on impulse or necessity since that day, only cleaning it and grinding the frayed edges. Whether it’s fighting bugbears or defending yourself against lots of angry longma after hearing something unwanted, perhaps you may get some use out of it? Don’t be shy; feel free to try it. I’ll walk you through the process.”

The older longma closed the iron fan, allowing the metal to fold into itself and retract before locking the iron ribs on some latches that ran the length of the gauntlet. If Rosa were to try it on, the whole thing could span the length of one leg, but this iron fortress can be held over one’s head. It could be a simple umbrella or a large shield that could defend and cover the entirety of the thestral’s body if he remained crouched or stationary. Though it was probably nothing, the siblings were silently wondering if they’d get their own crazy gadget or if their uncle had any more hidden away somewhere.

The Prince of Harrowmark was a rather curious fellow and very open minded at that.  When the more political exchanges were to occur, Necrotic might find himself as a kindred spirt to their own Princess Twilight Sparkle.  A very fascinating contrast to the current ruler of this land.  Harrowmark was in very interesting hoofs down the line.  Hopefully his rein would have a move full experience than the last few generations of his ancestry.

"Turning to stone is reserved for very dangerous creatures that require longer term reform," Rising explained.  The number of times it had been done is so few it was hardly considered anymore.  "Banishing to the Moon has only happened once, on a creature," he added before the opening of his sister's mouth could bring up Minty's mountain incident.  "It required the combination of Alicorn magics and the primordial power of Equestria's Elements of Harmony.  The resulting spell, is beyond words," Rising mentioned.  The most beautiful spell he'd ever seen, so complex and massive that even now with a permanent reference etched in his memory, he still hadn't fully unraveled it.  Not that many, if any, could relate.  Casters of their own spells hardly know what is actually weaved to make their magics happen.  "Tartarus is a special prison, when a normal prison just isn't enough.  Usually for those of the worst crimes," the detective finally concluded the stallion inquires.

"I look forward to a second first impression from Harrowmark," Rising agreed, with a smile.  He held no grudge or hate for the country in particular.  His quick visit in the little village after his battle with Twisted was pleasant enough and a much better look.  Thus resulting in his mixed opinion.  The current visit was going well so far, if he did say so himself.

"Oh, I assure you... Socialite and Broker are not exclusive," the mare chuckled sweetly.   "My work makes me quite sociable.  I rub elbows with the highest of our society.  I'm sure I'll be called upon to offer my services when our countries get full swing into their exchanges," granted she was already called upon, by herself, to take the reins in Equestria's dealings in Harrowmark.  "I look forward to working with any vendors you can recommend to help smooth this cultural exchange between our two lands," Dawn smiled brightly.

Their continued dive into getting to know each other though was cut short when the group bumped into Thistle.  Rising had seen some of the change during his short view through the mirror, but seeing it first hoof was quite the difference.  The smaller specter pony had become the size of Minty and Princess Celestia.  Now sporting wings and antenna that weren't there before, and she lost her glasses.  Rising looked up at his partner in crime against the dark wizard with a smirk, "You seem taller, than I remember."  "High Priestess Thistle, my family.  My father Star Echo, my mother Soaring Grace and my twin sister Setting Dawn.  Family, my first friend in Harrowmark, High Priestess Thistle,"   the detective introduced, each bowing their respective greetings.
