Barrel froze as to what they had both said. Him being a friend to some pony else and taking actual notice of him? This was an actual first for Barrel to come back out after many years of hiding in the shadows from the view of the public. Heck, does Pinkie Pie or any of the princesses know that Barrel exists?

 

He tried to speak, "I.... Sh.... Sh.... Sure!" Barrel responsed to Blitz and Summer.

 

Barrel got up from his piano chair and stood on his hind legs next to Summer, shaking a little. Waiting for Blitz to lead the way. Barrel was scared to go out into the public. But he knew he had to rise to that challenge. Yet at the same time, Barrel was intrigued by Blitz's workshop and so called... 'crater'

when barrel stood next to summer she saw that he was shaking a bit, he was probably really nervous. 'come on, lets go' summer said to him and she walked outside. she felt great being outside again, she couldn't bear being inside there much longer. just like on every other place. summer started walking towards ponyville, supposing the workplace was there. she was happy to see her old pony ville back, and she still had to do some shopping. her house was still empty, maybe barrel and blitz wanted to join her with shopping? or maybe not, they didn't really look like the type of ponies to enjoy that.

Blitz looked more and more giddy as it now seemed that the two of them wanted to come for a walk, perhaps see the crater and some other stuff too. They could go anyplace really, she didn't mind. She was more or less ready to begin her fireworks gig with Dax and the foal whose name escaped her right now when they showed up, and it was near sunbreak. She was sure she had a bit of time in case there wasn't enough yet.

 

Thinking on this though, made her miss that Summer had left the garage and she turned around herself a bit to try and find her before the bulb went off over her head and she stopped.

 

"Hehe, she must've gone outside. Let's go with her."

 

She went ahead, almost getting into a momentum run when she stopped up and swung around, facing barrel again whilst standing at roughly the middle of the door opening.

 

"Oh right, almost forgot. My name's Blitz Boom. I think I forgot to say that, right? Or... Eh, wait up!"

 

With that she swung around and went after Summer, not wanting the mare to get too far ahead of her. It wouldn't be long before she was at her, though honestly, she had thought Summer would go the other way. There her place and the crater were. But to be fair, not like she'd ever seen it, and she might need something in town. The crater could wait a little if that was it.

 

"Hi again! We're going to Ponyville first? Going to get something? Or visit somepony? Do you know some of the ponies there? The Apple's? Rarity? Mayor Mare?"

 

The questions ran out her mouth like a waterfall, pressing on to get out, which might be a little annoying to listen to, but it was how Blitz tended to be when things started to swirl in her head. She started to go hyperactive, talk gibberish or just anything that came into her head really, and if she were tired, tended to get an adrenaline rush that led to her passing out from exhaustion a bit later. Usually that last part was only when she hadn't slept for around three days though, and she had only been awake like 37 hours. She was fine. And besides, who had time to sleep when you had new friends to speak to?

"...What place is this?"

 

Omen had been silent for a good deal time as they had wandered, simply following them and looking around the roads they were led down. The light wasn't needed for her to see the place, but that didn't mean she had any idea where this were for that reason. She had never been in this building as far as she knew, and the only reason she was here now was because it had seemed safe when she had to find a place to leave Serenade when she passed out. It had looked pretty silent, and there was a roof, so that tended to be good as far as she knew.

'am i going the wrong way? i thought your crater was somewhere near here, but it was just a guess' summer said to stop the question flow out of the fillies mouth, 'but i indeed need to go to ponyville after that, i want to get some decorations for my house, would you like to go with me and introduce me to everypony, after i saw your crater ofcourse' and summer followed the filly to where her crater was 'would you like to go shopping to, barrel, or do you want to go back home after we saw blitz' crater' summer asked barrel, she didn't want to leave him behind, but she didn't know if he would want to. but she didn't know him that well yet, she just met him. just like she just met blitz i had forgotten how friendly ponyville is summer thought and a she couldn't help but smile.

Barrel was confused by all these names that Blitz spoke of. Not even knowing a single other pony out there was quite strange and spooky.

 

Being asked to come into the town by the two ponies made him feel... Warm inside.

 

"Never in my life would I think to say this but... I will come to town with you." Barrel answered to Summer.

 

Barrel began to feel very werid inside. He had felt feelings he had never felt before in his life. The shaking, the confidence... Was this going to be a new chapter in Barrels life? Stepping out of his comfort zone to come back to town after many years of being in the everfree...

'am i going the wrong way? I thought your crater was somewhere near here, but it was just a guess'

 

"Hehe, the crater's longer inside the forest. Not far. I bet if we hurry we can-"

 

Blitz stopped talking for a bit and looked at Barrel, waiting to see what he would say about the whole thing.

 

 

 

"Never in my life would I think to say this but... I will come to town with you."

 

"-All get to Ponyville fast. yey! Follow me new friends."

 

Without a warning, Blitz turned to the direction of where the crater near her shed were, and ran as fast as she could towards it. Even though the metallic wings and the bag on her back slowed her down a little overall, she was still rather fast in it for somepony her size, though they likely wouldn't have to worry about loosing her. Even if her colours weren't as easy to spot in the green forest as they were, she wasn't exactly a master of stealth and you could both hear her and see the trail she ran quite clearly.

 

Really, they wouldn't even have to hurry much to keep up because of said trail. They could wander slowly along until they found her near where the ground started to get barren and have weird colours, halfway stuck in a bush and mumbling to herself.

 

(Figured this'll give you two some time to talk if you wish to do so. I don't mind waiting if it is you take the opportunity. ^^ )

Frost hadn't been outside for a few days, he had just been reading all day long. He ran out of food though, so he had to go get groceries. Maybe a whole bunch of packed daffodil sandwiches. He went out of his cottage at the edge of the Everfree forest, and started strolling slowly towards town, looking at the sky. He liked the sky.

 

EDIT: (I want to join you guys in the EFF, but I don't know you guys are there yet, so maybe something happens that alerts me? I don't know. :3)

since blitz was far of into the Woods and barrel couldn't fly summer decided to follow the trail blitz left behind to get to her crater, and as she was walking she could get to know barrel a little bit better. 'come barrel, lets follow the trail. just like i allways did when i was a filly. i used to follow timberwolf trails with my best friend, hoping to find some' summer told barrel, if she started talking about herself barrel  would maybe tell her something about himself 'i wasn't scared of timberwolves, if you have the power of the wind they are easily destroyed. you know, blitz is a bit like me when i was a filly, always exploring and searching the limits' and summer smiled as she remembered those happy days in the forest, with no worries and friends to play with 'i still can't beleve that you lived alone your whole life' summer said and she shakes her head. her manes fell before her eyes and she suddenly realised how messy they where. 'wait a minute, barrel' and she tied her manes into a ponytail, which fell over her one shoulder 'much better' she said and looked at barrel, 'it doesn't look weird or anything, does it?' she asked him.

Frost hummed a little tune as he was walking along the path towards Ponyville, when he saw something in the corner of his eye. He turned around, and saw lights flashing over the Everfree forest. He didn't like it much, and thought that maybe there was a fight going on, or some giant magic spell. Either way, it seemed interesting. He began walking back calmly to the Everfree forest in hope to find out what was going on. Before he arrived the lights stopped, but he remembered the general direction they were in.

He entered the forest, and walked in what he thought was the direction of the flashes of light.

Barrel watched as Blitz took off like the happy little filly that she was. He smiled at Blitz and... laughed on the inside.

 

Ahh... These feelings... they feel so... out of place... Why do I feel such emotions right now? WHAT ARE THEY? Barrel thought to himself.

 

He kept trotting closely next to Summer while they talked. "You... used to follow Timberwolfs? Didn't they ever chase after you? I know they did for me... Not to mention me taking out a few myself. But I will admit though, they are really flimsey when it comes to the wind." Barrel chuckled towards Summer.

 

"Glad to see you were not scared of them."  Barrel complimented her with a smile.

 

"Yeah... I don't know either... Perhaps it was just the will to survive out her and everywhere else I went. I did what I had to do. At that time, I wasn't sure if I could trust any other pony out there.... I thought every pony was out to get me." Barrel explained.

 

Barrel watched as Summer 'fixed' up her mane. He thought it was good either way. "What are you talking about? It looks great!" 

 

As much as Barrel wanted to say "Beautiful" to her. He thought that was going to be a bit too much. Barrel kept on trotting along side Summer as they followed Blitz's trail towards where ever it was they were going to.

Sole quickly flew down and landed in front of her, stabbing the blade of the scythe into the ground behind him with his tail. After hearing what she had to say, he was a bit confused, but he was definitely not going to let her disappear.

 

"I'm not sure what you're talking about, but if you need my help, just tell me what I need to do to help" He said bluntly. "We haven't known each other for long, but you seem like a pretty cool cat, so I wanna help you out" he said with a smile, acknowledging the pun as intentional. "So, what do I need to do? Give you some of my energy?"

Missklang separated from the group while nobody seemed to pay much attention. Only a foxy turned his curious eyes and glanced at his shadow as he slipped away. He sneaked toward the closest staircase and went down to the floor underneath. He stopped for a second and sat on the ground while searching something in his bag. After a brief search, he pulled out a very old piece of yellowish parchment that he carefully laid on the floor. It was some sort of ancient plan, but it was difficult to read as the ink faded away with time and the parchment looked as if someone had used it for writing something else, overlaying the original picture.  After closely inspecting what was left of it, Missklang stood up and turned towards the east. After some minutes of twists and turns, he arrived in a small room that looked like it belonged to a servant long ago, as it was so tiny that it barely contained a dusty broken bed and a small drawer. It seemed standing strong despite its old age. Missklang approached it and blew the dust from it. It was like if someone carved patterns and circles in a creative madness all over it. He pulled the drawer's doors that opened despite the keyhole that was placed on them. It was empty, just a bunch of cobwebs. He silently smiled, closed the drawer and pulled a small chaos crystal, infused with spider venom still dripping from it. A tiny ray from his horn hit the crystal, shattering it, revealing a small crystal key. The key fitted the keyhole perfectly, and with a dull mechanical noise, the bed lifted up, revealing stairs that led into a dark tunnel. Missklang grabbed a torch that was attached to the wall and lit it up. The passage was filled with cobwebs and dust and looked as if nopony used it since many, many years. Missklang started to descending and arrived at a crossroad in this tiny tunnel. He looked at the old parchment and went right on a descending angle. After a few minutes, he arrived in a large circle room. It has nothing more than a pedestal in the middle. The floor, however, was covered in bones and skulls of countless creatures and ponies. The closer to the pedestal, the more remains there were, creating a sort of a tiny hill around it. The most of the bones were gray and break as soon as he stood on them, but one skeleton looked more recent than others. It had wings and a skull with a unicorn horn and a strange pentagram on the forehead that looked as if it was carved in it with magic. It was laying on top of the pile, right next to the pedestal

 

"Well well well.... Isn't it Mliri Kunyada? I expected to find you here... He he he... You finally got what you wanted and become a princess."

 

He picked up the alicorn's skull

 

"Did it make you happy? I tried to warn you, but you didn't listen... And now, you are here, with all of your new subjects to rule on! I hope you are not too bored. After all, they don't look very talkative."

 

He dropped the skull on the floor laughing and looked at the pedestal. It was surrounded by a dark green opaque orb of magic. Missklang concentrated  and his horn glowed in the same green light as the barrier. It slowly faded away, revealing a very small box made of a very clean white wood. Extremely powerful magic was coming from it. His horn glowed again and the box became surrounded by the same shield as the one he cast earlier today, completely masking the magical diffusion.

 

"Well, that experiment proved to be a success and managed to keep a group of powerful beings inside, including me. I calculated the strength of the shield and it's resistance. And may I say, it surprised me. I wouldn't be able to escape it on my own... That should contain you safely enough..."

 

The box now looked as if it was surrounded by a dark gray transparent glass. Several stones felt from the ceiling as the magic has probably what kept the castle so well preserved all those years, and now time was slowly getting back control over the cold stones. With the degradation no more stopped by the magic, the castle would quickly deteriorate over the next months. Missklang carefully levitated it in his back and started walking back towards the exit.

Seamore followed Priestess into the war room after the changelings left, who had barely had enough time to get by undetected before Princess Luna arrived in the hallway. Hearing Last yawn he said, "Starting to get tired, Last? Well it has been a long day that's for-" just then Luna was approaching the door to the War Room, her light shining through the crack in the door, "-sure. Are my eyes playing tricks on me or is there somepony out in the hall?"

 

Luna knocked on the door three times. "Is anypony in there?" she asked loudly. She already knew the answer to the question, which was why she was knocking in the first place. Otherwise, she would have just opened the door and walked through, but if she just walked into a room suddenly in an abandoned castle, and there was somepony in that room with a sword that wasn't expecting it, it could only end badly.

'thanks barrel' said summer, barrel was a really kind pony, he reminded her of somepony she knew when she was younger. 'do you think we've almost reached blitz' crater?' she said, while thinking out loud. that was one of the things she always had done, most of the time it really annoyed other ponies, but she just couldn't help it.

summer really enjoyed the little walk through the forest, but she wasn't used to walking and her hooves started to hurt. so she started flying, just a little above the ground. she heard a little humming, but it stopped before she could really notice it so she wasn't sure if she really heard it or if it was her imagination. summer saw a weird color on the ground 'look barrel, the ground is orange. and i think i spotted something purple in the bushes a little while ago. we are getting closer to blitz' crater i think' summer said, and she landed again and walked on the orange grass, looking if she could find more collors to walk on. it was a bit childish but it was a summer thing to do

Frost kept walking through the forest, thinking he went the right direction. After a while he saw a tree that he had seen a while ago as well. "Well, this can't be right," he said in himself, coming to a halt, "I've seen this tree before..."

In fact it was a totally different tree, and he was actually going in the right direction, but this made him walk in a random direction, hoping to stumble upon some path or place to re-orientate himself.

He walked for sometime until he heard a few voices talking. He walked towards them cautiously, not sure if they were friendly or not. This was the Everfree forest after all, weird ponies walk here. He followed them for sometime, hiding in the bushes. He didn't want to get to close, in case they saw him. After a while, he decided that they weren't the bad sort, because they weren't talking about murder or other things. He walked towards them through some bushes. He got in the open, and saw two ponies. Then I noticed Summer.

"Wait..." I said, looking at her thoughtfully, "Hey, it's you! Long time no see!" 

I smiled widely. "And who's your friend here?" I noticed I forgot the other pony, and turned to him. "Oh wait, I should probably introduce myself. I'm Frost, what's your name?"

'frosty!!!!' summer shouted and gave him a ginormous hug 'i am so happy to see you again, what are you doing here?' summer asked him 'i thought that you where still in canterlot' and she gave him a friendly bump. then she remembered barrel 'barrel, i want to introduce you to my super special somepony: midnight frost. or just frosty for short' she said smiling and looked at midnight frost again 'frosty, i want to introduce you to barrel. he's my friend and i met him this morning, i am sure you to will get along fine' and she smiled again. she never thought she would meet frosty here, she was planing on going to canterlot to visit him soon but now she didn't have to do that anymore. could this day get even better?

I hugged Summer back, it had been too long since we had last seen each other. 

"I'm glad to see you too!" I said, smiling even more, "I moved here a few weeks ago, but I didn't really go out much. I saw some light thingies above the forest, so I decided to follow them.-" I coughed, "-It's not like I got lost, or anything." 

I turned to Barrel, "Nice to meet you, Barrel."

This day had suddenly become a lot more interesting.

Last's open eye grew hard and cold like ice again, despite having Petey still riding on her head, and she turned towards the door, katana in her muzzle and battle-ready for whomever was out there. At this point, it would either be a unknown quantity, or the suddenly vanished Missklang, and she doubted that the oddball would light away like that instead of just bursting in.

 

It didn't take more than hearing the voice before her narrowed eye opened wide, and she instantly sheathed her blade again.

 

"Last Stand of the Forgotten Shrine, several civilians and a half dozen children your majesty. The room is secure."

 

She didn't wait until the door opened before standing sharp and saluting towards the door, awaiting Princess Luna's presence amongst them. She was still tired, but she hid it as best she could how drained she was starting to feel. She'd have to be passed out or dead to do otherwise when it was the princess of the night herself that was in the vicinity after all.

 

On the other side of the door, omen just tilted her head a little from side to side at the voice that had come from inside the room.

 

"...Strange room."

 

The ones inside the war room would not be able to hear her, but Serenade and Luna would hear her curious words, showing trace that she felt drawn to find out what was in the other room, thought she didn't move towards it yet. Omen could contain her wants for now, though mostly because she was sure she would soon get an answer to whom had said these things, and why there were children in this place. She always thought they were supposed to sleep in the cities at this point of the night, not wander around an odd place like... Wherever this were.

If Summer, barrel and Frosty would look more closely at the colours as they went on, following Blitz' trail, they would see that it was not just random splurges of colours that were here and there in the otherwise normal forest. Small, scorched patches, minor holes and a few places were vegetation had either started to look really strange or didn't grow at all was showing here and there, though as they were not headed for Blitz' home directly, they would not see the main area for these things unless they took a large, wrong turn.

 

The patches would fade out relatively fast too, as this was the edge of the places where Blitz did most of her things, and she was rarely going so far overboard or lost control of the things these days to make a lasting impression this far out. Yet still, a few times a small bomb or firework could still end up fizzling away and out to these places, so Some were shown, but it wasn't much.

Luna, upon hearing Last respond, opened the door and walked through. She looked over at Seamore and said, "I must buy from you one log of Everwood." "I have not yet deseeded the logs yet but I will do so immediately, your highness," he said respectfully, while bowing his head slightly. "That will not be necessary, I will remove the seeds myself. We have urgent business that must be handled quickly. Do you have your Everwood Sales Permit with you?" Luna asked. "It's in the box on the side of my cart downstairs, in the portal room. The logs are still in the cart, I'll help you-" "I will not require any assistance," she interrupted, only to make things go quicker. Then Luna made a bag of bits appear, teleporting it from where she was keeping it. The bag was large enough that it definitely contained more than the two thousand bits the log was worth. "None shall know about this. To ensure your cooperation, the price has been doubled," she said, levitating the bag over to Seamore and dropping it in front of him. He knew that if he refused her generous offer, it would be considered rude. Though he didn't want to take so much money from the Princess, he had to, she was determined to get the log quickly and quietly. "I accept," he said calmly, and picked up the bag of bits, throwing it onto his back with the rest of his stuff.

Serenade enters the room after the Princess, her eyes darting back and forth. They've returned to their glowing green state, and her ears twitch back and forth. She stops and looks around, taking in everything but paying close attention to Luna's conversation.

Cresent herd Last and stood where he was not sure if there was danger or not ahead. He did fight blind once, it hurt more for him then his sparing partner but even then he still got in his defensive stence not with the blade out but at the ready just the same "under stood" he said waiting to hear what would happen.

"Your majesty, if I may?"

 

Last waited patiently whilst the trade went on between Princess Luna and Seamore, not saying a word before the deal was sealed and the lumberjack had picked up his payment.

 

"I feel obligated to inform you that we ran into a few issues on our way towards this room, and during it, I have lost track of the pony Missklang. I take full responsibility for this failure of my duty, as well as any consequences that may entail, yet I would like to ask if when these beings are secure, you might allow me a chance to make things somewhat right again by finding and retaining him?"

 

Last bowed her head after what she had said, awaiting her majesty's judgement on this. Where she came from, failure was met with punishment, as a way to deter them from making more, and whilst she wasn't sure if the princess had a policy like that, Last was ready to accept whatever outcome the highest ranking superior she had would determine should happenn for this failure. It might be forgiveness, it might be punishment, but whatever it would be the fact remained the same: She had failed a direct order, and whilst there were circumstances that had made it hard to follow her full assignment - Others to guard over too, and a blinded bat pony to lead - it was not a good enough excuse to disobey. Especially not when it had been from the princess herself.

 

"Strange words."

 

Omen wandered past the still dazed Ziggy, Serenade and Luna, towards the bowing pony witht he sword and the assorted others there. Now when she was this close, they should all be able to hear the whispering voice in their head when she spoke and glanced them over.

 

"Strange beings. Ponies, bat, cat... Bigger cats?"

 

She looked at Shaman and Priestess as she said the last words, her head tilted a little as she *said* the questioning words. She had never seen a fox in her time, simply cats, rabbits and a few bats. The small one - Syo - was a cat, she could see that, but with the others she could only go by what she knew, and with the exception of Crescent, they didn't look like bats. Plus, their tails were too big to be rabbits, along with their legs being wrong. Best she knew, they were some sort of really tall cats, or odd ponies, but she would try cats first.

 

Her gaze wandered and eventually fell on Petey, still sitting on Last's back about a meter to her left.

 

"Colourful kitten."

 

She did hers to listen to what the others said, and what happened around her, yet beyond the strange pony with the closed eye talking to Lulu and the merchant deal going between the princess and the other pony who now had a large bag of something, nothing had really gone on yet, and she was curious. It was also one of the reasons why she leaned a little closer to Petey, trying to see more of the kitten. There was something strange over him beyond the unknown shape, but Omen couldn't put a hoof on it and just ignored it as perhaps being something that was with this kind of cat.

 

Her kind had an natural ability to track small vibes of energy amongst their instincts for finding those they were sent for, and though Omen didn't think anything off it since the energy was more personal than specific, a tiny part of her subconsciousness did register that vague, Changeling energy clinging to the little life.

 

It would help if she had to track down Changelings in the future, and this one in particular, but right now it meant nothing to her since she didn't even know what a Changeling were. Besides, even if she did, this kind of sensing was more linked to her instinctual tracking than anything she could control. She would be as able to single them out consciously as Last or any other of the ponies here - if not less than them - so they should not be in any danger of being exposed by her

Missklang wondered into a room and saw everyone, including Luna and Last. Realising she failed to keep an eye on him he walked towards her and the princess.

"Failure?" Luna said, confused. "I only meant for you to watch them as they traveled through my dreamscape. If either of them brought their physical form into someone's dream it could have been a great trouble for me to deal with. I thank you for your services," she said sincerely. "After one thousand years of looters, I don't think there would be much left here that needs protecting from Missklang, though he may need protection from the castle itself. There are trapdoors everywhere, he could get hurt wandering around alone. I would recommend finding him, for his safety. This castle has seen enough dark days, we don't need another tragedy." Luna was almost to the point of tears, emotionally, but she did her best to hide it, though those who looked closely may be able to see it in her eyes.

As Luna is talking, Serenade backs into a corner, ears and tail twitching. She's muttering softly, the same words over and over. To those watching, she appears to be having a panic attack. "μολυσμένο ενέργειας παντού"
