If you could change anything about the series, what would it be?

I'd make there episodes that took place before the main timeline, such as Luna and Celestia's past. I'd also make the villains more dangerous and sinister. Discord would not have reformed but made a bigger and better combat. Twilight would not have become an alicorn--now hear me out on this one; I simply wish there was a bigger variety of princess types, like unicorn princesses, pegasi princesses, or even earth pony princesses. The variety would have made Celestia and Luna more unique as a rare an immortal species. On that note, Cadence would have remained a pegasi and not transformed herself. I'd also like to see more of the characters' families; as in more than Shining Armor, Big Mac, Applebloom, and Sweetiebelle. I'd like to see more parental interaction.

There are a few things:

 

-I would tighten the continuity a bit more so that story arcs could be handled better.

-Allow for more fan participation, such as contests for a fan-written episode, OCs, etc, and make licenses for fan-made merchandise easier to purchase.

-Take care with how male characters are portrayed, namely I would get rid of Snips and Snails and make sure Spike was being written better.

-Flexibility in budgeting and time, to allow for such possibilities as a two-parter in the middle of the season, a movie, etc.

-Portray an adult blank flank in at least one episode and make an episode about depression.

-Portray a male blank flank in a Crusaders episode and have it deal with the gender divide.

-In terms of the franchise, have the merchandise sell the show as opposed to the show selling the merchandise. In other words, if there's a good story that can be merchandised well, don't squander it.

I would up the tension between the races of pony to highlight how the mane six represent that friendship and working together is the true way to overcome things like Tirek. Pegesi Unicorns and Earth ponies aleady learned this and it takes away from the fact that two of each kind banded together and beat what no one race could do alone.

More male characters who appear in multiple episodes and play important roles. Maybe even have a male pony join the main cast.

 

A villain who is introduced in the season premiere but sticks around for the whole season. They would only be defeated during the season finale.

 

The Wilhelm Scream should no longer be used, especially not during dramatic scenes. That ruined the ending of Equestria Girls for me.

If I got a hold on this show:
 
Magical Mystery Cure would have been handled a better.
Episodes like Simple Ways, Rainbow Falls, One Bad Apple, Filli Vanilli, Power Ponies, and Daring Don't would never exist. 
The CMC's would have their cutie marks already.
Rainbow Dash would have stopped being an ass back in season 2. 
A Celestia episode would probably exist by now.
Applejack's parents would have been addressed - they would be dead.
Someone in Fluttershy's family would have appeared or at least have been mentioned by this point.
Equestria Girls would be better.
Rainbow Rocks would not have been made.
The show would have probably ended already (not that I'm not stoked for season five, but things wouldn't be dragging around like they are and therefore a season five probably wouldn't be necessary). 
 
That is all...I think.

I'd actually make that episode have more of an impact. That was the episode that could've and should've developed Rainbow Dash's attitude, but the writers completely ignored The Mysterious Mare Do Well because "f*** it, Rainbow Dash needs to say stupid shit today."

I always saw it as having quite a heavy impact on RD's attitude in Wonderbolts Academy, albeit an unstated one. 

 

Let's see, if I were the head of this show...

• Less FRIENDSHIP RAINBOW POWER, more exploiting of Twilight's true strength as a protagonist; her logical mind. More problems that have to be solved with teamwork, diplomacy, and thinking.
• In that vein, introduce Equestrian politics a little bit (not Game of Thrones level) into Season 5. We need to step back from the big doomsday villains or we'll get burnout. Let's use a different sort of a threat.
• More episodes where Spike is included with another Mane 6 member, whether in the plot or as part of a gag. Spike is love, Spike is life. Imagine Fluttershy really going through with staying back in Ponyville with him doing silly things in the season premiere while plot happened. That would be hilarious.
• More hinting at AJ's parents being dead, but not an actual episode yet.
• Twilight episodes with more character focus than plot focus. Give her slice of life episodes on her character flaws like Season 2 again!
• Overall, give the series a bit of a dramedy vibe. It's my favored tone and could easily integrate into the MLP universe.
• After the first movie, don't involve Twi in Equestria Girls. Sunset Shimmer can take the role of lead there just fine.
• Explore weak character interactions more. Twi/AJ, RD/Sweetie Belle, Applejack and Luna, it's all good!
• Adventure episodes with non-Twilight ponies as the lead

Also, my crazy random longshot desire:

• Rarity and Twilight in a political thriller 2 parter

If more families are shown:

• This fanfic is canon, or at least the relationship presented in it is. I basically wrote it as "my headcanons but with a plot". 
• Fluttershy has a huge, rowdy family.

A Luna/Celestia episode:Luna already had her episode,and although Celestia didn't had her episode yet,it would be fun to see the two sisters sharing an episode just around them.

 

Raridash episode:There have been multiple episode who put two ponies at the same time(Rarity-Applejack,Twilight-Rainbow Dash,Fluttershy-Rainbow Dash...),but we still have to see an episode starred by Rarity and Rainbow Dash.

Of course there're other pairings that can be exploited,like Twijack,Appleshy(I don't exactly count Bats! as a Appleshy episode),etc,who need building,but,if I had to choose,Raridash has the most chemish of them all.

 

Applejack's Parents:I always complain about the lack of mention of some parents on the show,but what hurts me the most is that Applejack's parents aren't mentioned at any time.I would love to see something about them,even if it's just a simple mention.

 

Also,the same applies about Fluttershy's parents.

 

Equestrian Culture Building:On Equestria Games,we had the chance to see two pony leaders from other parts of the world.They clearly showed that their culture is distinct than the Equestrian one.An episode about cultural worldbuildint would be perfect.

 

Less super villians,and more real life problems:We're used to see a big threat at the season opening and finale,except season 1 finale.

 

The fun?I liked more S1's finale,because it didn't focused on a big threat,or on Twilighr(as it commonly happens).It was an episode where everyone was a protagonist,with their own troubles and issues,and I want to see something like that again.

 

Leadership:When we see Mane 6 episodes,we tend to see Twilight as the leader,but....what if Twilight was the problem?

 

What i'm trying to say is that the other mane 6 should have the chance of leadership(Applejack specially),not just Twilight.

Maybe, but I'm referring to content in season 4, after "Wonderbolt's Academy." Some of Rainbow Dash's dialogue in "Castle Man-ia," "Daring Don't," "Rainbow Falls," "Three's a Crowd," and a few others completely ignore these attitude adjustments to add useless dialogue showboating how awesome she thinks she is. And it's on a big enough scale that it's like the writers as a whole are treating the character as if "The Mysterious Mare Do Well" never existed rather than making a honest mistake, like Pinkie Pie in "Filli Vanilli."
