Steam caused good singleplayer games to stop being made.

 

All of the Fallout games are on Steam, The Elder Scrolls games, the Civilization series has great singleplayer. I'm not fond of CoD but damn, their singleplayers are fun to me.

1.  But your missing out on turn based tactical combat, which makes warfare far more interesting.  Also, the two expansions add a lot of flavor.

2.  Don't you want to play the sequel though?  I mean a good sequel.  Human revolution is worthy of bearing the title Deus Ex, unlike Invisible War.

3.  Mouse controls are a godsend for games like this.

6.  This is another worthy successor.  It cut out a lot of needless micromanagement, and you no longer have to spend 2-3 turns just getting everybody off the stupid plane.

I agree, same thing with Left 4 Dead 2 with me, mods are amazing there... (I have about 3/4 GB full of Pony mods on that game XD) And weren't the first two Elder Scrolls PC?

Console gamer doesn't like PC gaming now - is reasonable.

Reasons for disliking PC gaming completely trivial and barely explained - Not looking good.

I personally don't think Steam's an issue at all when it comes to the decline of PC games; the Cloud storage of purchases doesn't bother me in the least, and I think it's a nice jump forward from physical copies. I'll admit, I love having Morrowind and Oblivion for their respective Microsoft consoles in a physical form, if only for nostalgia purposes. Steam gave me those in a downloadable format so I no longer have to tote around a jewel case.

Also this, because active modding communities are the bomb for their work on making console-to-PC ports look even better than before. Pre-Steam games weren't ALL that bad either, hell, I remember my first 95 machine and the release of the previously defunct Presto Studios game The Journeyman Project. But that doesn't mean that I think Steam killed it. The team even came back together recently for a semi-reboot of the brand with Pegasus Prime for Windows, and I still love me some old-school time travel shenanigans (can't forget the extremely snarky AI constructs, either). Can't really bash Pajama Sam, Putt-Putt, and that horribly bad Tonka game that are stashed away somewhere in my house either; my interests changed with time.

 

More on topic, I think that account-tied purchases has helped more than it has hurt, at least in my experiences. DRM IS annoying though, that I can agree with, and it's probably the only reason why I'm not currently in a rush to buy Mass Effect 1/2/3 from Steam/Origin. Same with Assassin's Creed and UPlay. So no, I won't blame Steam on ruining PC gaming, because the companies are the ones implementing DRMs and being annoying.

I've gotten more into PC gaming since Steam, GoG and (Dare I say it) Origin.  I've become more and more of a PC gamer(While becoming less and less of a Console gamer) nowdays not just because of the benefits on STeam and GoG and Origin, but also because of the arrogance of Console makers nowadays.

I'm definitely more of a console gamer and I think I've only ever bought one game from Steam, but it still seemed like a good service.

Eh, I have no personal problem with Steam. I'll admit that I am more of a console gamer, but services like Steam & GOG ae excellent for the sheer amount of games available at decent prices. As gamers, how can we hate that?

 

My only gripe with Steam is that having the client open while gaming essentially makes any game I try unplayable. I have a '09 Macbook Pro, so that is likely part of the reason why.
